The price on Amazon was several hundred dollars less than the store price, including shipping. The tv offers great picture and sound. It is large, so make sure you have room in your living room to fit it.

(More customer reviews)I've recently purchased this rear projection television and I'm very impressed to say the least. I've owned a Samsung 40 rear projection prior to this, which was also a very good TV, but nothing compared to this JVC bad boy. Some nice features include a DVI jack for future (some present) digital connections, a center channel input (although I've tried it and the sound is less than acceptable, perhaps its my receiver), numerous multiscreen displays including dual tuning for split screen, and most importantly exceptional picture quality. I believe it's the internal line doubler that creates such sharp pictures, or so they say. The clarity is really astounding for a projection TV, and what's more, the clarity is not limited to HDTV broadcasts, but the picture on regular cable is amazing as well. Let's face it, most of us do not spend most of our TV viewing time having access to HDTV broadcasts and receivers. Albeit a fortunate handful, but for the rest of us this television has excellent picture quality across the board. I highly suggest watching the Monsters Inc. dvd with a player using component connections. The clarity is breathtaking, many picutres truly appear to be 3 dimensional. But instead of relying solely on reviews, go out to your local electronics store, and take a look for yourself at this television against other manufacturers. And don't listen to large chain store electronics sales employees, they don't know what they're talking about. Happy shopping!

(More customer reviews)A great buy from Amazon! Even after shipping costs I saved nearly $300 over B*st B*y and Circ*it C*ty. I can't believe this unit shipped so fast and in perfect condition to Florida. Ordered late on 25 April and received the unit on 30 April from Fed Ex (estimated delivery date was 29 April - 4 May.) Fed Ex delivery person helped me bring it into my house, which is unusual for curbside shipping. He also told me he could have delivered the TV on 27 April but that was before the shipping date so he held onto it. No sweat though, it was still ahead of schedule.
I'm pleasantly surprised with the TV. One word of advice - don't buy HDMI hi-def cables from a retail vendor or you'll pay 5-6 times more than you need to, like $50 for a 6 ft cable which is ridiculous. It's a digital cable, so the signal is there or it isn't. There's no advantage to buying M*nster C*bles or another overpriced brand. I picked up 12 ft cables from a reputable online vendor for $10 each.
Remember this unit doesn't ship with a TV stand. I have it resting on two end tables until I make my own stand for it.

Mitsubishi WD-57733 57-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV off Amazon over the summer to replace a Sony KDS-60A2000 that I had sold due to a move. I wanted to get the KDS-60A2020 to replace it but I had some concern about the weight/width for getting it into the family room of my new residence.
The Mitsubishi TV solved most of those problems. The TV is only about 14" deep and weighs around 65 lbs. Not bad for a TV of this size (the Sony was about 20" thick and weighed about 95 lbs).
The TV has 3 HDMI ports (all of which are being used now, compared to the Sony's 2) and has dual digital tuners. It's useful if you want to get OTA HDTV and your regular cable as well.
Really the only flaws are some weird screen geometry (warping on the left-hand side of the screen) and occasional issues with HDCP and the HDMI. Supposedly the set is using HDMI 1.3 and I think this may be causing sets with the Playstation 3 which is also supposedly HDMI 1.3.
My other HDMI devices, an Xbox 360 and a HD cable box both work fine but sometimes the PS3 just loses the signal and I have to plug/unplug the cable from the back of the TV. I haven't had any issues with component or any other connections, just the PS3's HDMI. There's also a noticeable lag when changing resolutions via HDMI (I've noticed when changing from 480p/720p/1080i/1080p).
I'd also say that the remote is kind of cheap and not that great (although the multifunction abilities were able to interact 75% properly with my rather obscure audio system successfully drop down to 2 remote controls).
Those are not huge deal breakers for me and the cost for the size was great. Plus, as a DLP set I'm less worried about the green blob issue that I used to notice on my Sony set.

(More customer reviews)I'm an early adopter, so pretty much as soon as I saw this monster at the new price point (Mits' first 82" rear projection debuted at $21,000!!!) I knew I was going to have it. I'm about two weeks into ownership, upgraded to BluRay at the same time, and couldn't be happier.
I've read some reviews that complain about the "new improved" control protocol, and it is different from older models, but is still very instinctive and easy to figure out. Now that I have, it IS an improvement.
The mystery to me is how Mitsubishi can maintain such magnificent detail and color intensity on such a massive picture. I upgraded from an early model JVC 61" 720-line, and the picture is not only much richer and more detailed, it's nearly twice as large!
Love it, love it, love it! And by the way, Blu Ray ROCKS and this 82" is the perfect TV to show it off. We "debuted" with "Master and Commander" and even my non-tech-geek wife was blown away!
Update: I'll leave the rating as-is because the TV is everything the reviews says, but the add-on is, Mitsubishi's customer service (using the term loosely) totally sucks. Nothing was wrong with the function of the TV, except that there was transfer of adhesive material from the clear polyvinyl chloride protective tape used for packaging to the surface of the viewing screen which non-abrasive soap and warm water wouldn't remove, plus as I removed the tape it took some of the black paint off the metal frame around the viewing screen.
Getting this evaluated/reviewed and the repair authorized and completed (still not done at three weeks and counting after the one week it was supposed to take) was an absolute nightmare.
Hint to Mits: The early adopters like me who pay the first-on-my-block prices for your latest gizmos are pretty much used to having things our way. Even with our support your products can fail, but without our support it's impossible for your products to succeed. Treat us like crap and you don't get a second chance. The amount of crap I've had to go through for a minor problem that was 100% the result of how you packaged the TV when you shipped it to me is unforgivable, and the attitude of the "regional manager" who basically told me I was SOL on the paint the tape tore off the frame shouldn't be in a customer contact position.
