Philips PHDTV3 Indoor Amplified UHF/VHF/FM/HDTV Antenna Review

I bought this indoor antenna after trying the Terk 5 and a RCA indoor antenna. All claim to be able to recieve HDTV signals. Neither the Terk 5 nor the RCA could even find one digital channel. Then I decided to try the Philips indoor antenna and on the first try my TV found 17 digital channels in San Jose!!
The reception is pretty good. Placement is key so try different places. I live in an apartment and I found a spot for it. Reception is very sensitive. One inch here and there makes all the difference. But once the antenna can lock onto a digital channel the picture quality is superb.
Analog reception is mediocre and it does as well as the rest. Nothing to write about.

GE 24746 Futura HDTV Ready Antenna Review

I bought one of these at the local hardware store. It was out of the box and hooked up in 5 minutes. Downsides: No power light or switch, so when something doesn't work it's hard to tell if it is due to the hookup, tv settings, or power outlet. Also, there is a long telescoping antenna (not pictured) which makes this antenna much less wife acceptable. I managed to finally get 2 hdtv channels to connect roughly 100% of the time, but then magically the power adapter must have given its all - so back to the store for a refund. Happy Thanksgiving for HDTV!

RCA ANT121 Indoor Antenna Review

This budget-priced indoor antenna unit does the job. I received all the local HD channels available in my area with minimal adjustments to the antenna positioning.
The coaxial cable is part of the unit and cannot be removed. The cable itself is rather skinny. That being said, the unit performs, flawlessly.
I have the unit placed behind my 42" plasma with the antenna extended and hidden from view. The location of my flatscreen is top-floor of a house and about five feet from the window. I also used this unit in my bedroom and it worked, flawlessly.
I think the location of your home (relative to the broadcast towers) and positioning of the unit is what matters. Not the brand or price of the indoor antenna unit.

Affordable amplified HDTV antenna - received all HD channels in the DFW area with minimal tweaking via antenna input on DirecTV HD Tivo unit. All HD channels except 2 have 90% signal strength in my Arlington, TX home, which is about 16-20 miles from most transmitters. Nice form factor also.

RCA Indoor Amplified Tv Antenna Review

I live in in a yellow area in West Berkeley, CA, so I shouldn't need an outdoor antenna. To hedge my bets, I purchased this antenna because it has a power gain i.e., it's amplified via a powercord to an electrical outlet. Before I plugged it in and attached it to my Sony Bravia 40in flat screen, I didn't receive ANY channels in the SF Bay Area. After I plugged it in and did a channel search, it found 31 digital channels.
I'd recommend to anyone purchasing an antenna for HDTV to do your research, find out what color zone you are in, and then hedge your bets and get an amplified antenna if you go with an indoor antenna.
I've no complaints with this antenna & now I get so many stations that I'm quite happy to embark on my 7th year of no cable or satellite TV! Between all of these digital channels I get over the air in the SF Bay Area and my Netflix subscription for movies, I'm set...and am VERY glad I don't need to pay a cable or satillite company to get TV reception.

Samsung SIR-TS360 DirecTV High-Definition Receiver/HDTV Tuner Review

Samsung SIR-TS360 DirecTV High-Definition Receiver/HDTV Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My ts360 is great; there are lots of features in the menus to customize your use and appearance of the guide. I use mine solely as an OTA receiver, and bought it second-hand. There were a few issues...
The first was, since it was stored away for a while by original owner, it would not power up right away. There was a constant clicking noise; no display. After letting it click away for a few hours, it came back to life. Then a "boot fail" error on the display. You can still bypass this by pressing 'select' to get to the menu to choose "no dish". The receiver resets itself, then works like a charm. I was so happy to get all my local digital/hd channels. BTW, both problems were solved by a little 'googling.'
The ts360 is easy to use, and the guide still provides you with almost all the info (times, descriptions, etc.) on programs found on the digital subchannels (18.1, 24.1, etc.). I've had no problems with it ever since I revived it.

Samsung DTBH260F HDTV Terrestrial Receiver Review

Samsung DTBH260F HDTV Terrestrial Receiver
Average Reviews:

This item has been hard to find in stores and online. After being waitlisted with Amazon for some time, I finally ordered it from another large electronics vendor that offerred free shipping, but I had to pay sales tax.
Last year I purchased two HDTV's (without built in tuners) thinking I would always get HD from my cable company. When I totaled up the cost of HD on cable with all of the extra boxes and fees, over-the-air HD for the price of a tuner seemed like a much more reasonable alternative.
The tuner was not difficult to hook up. I used an inexpensive HDMI cable (purchased off the web), regular rabbit ears/UHF antenna and plugged the tuner directly into my TV. (Remember to flip the switch on the back of the unit and to set your TV to HDMI input.) According to the manual, audio is supposed to be transmitted to the TV through the HDMI cable, but my TV does not accept dolby 5.1 surround sound. I had to change the audio setting on the unit to PCM to get sound out of the TV. Alternatively, I got stereo sound by running separate audio cables (included with the unit) to my home theater unit.
Being at an age where I grew up with over the air TV and recalling that we continually had to adjust the rabbit ears to improve the picture, I was astounded by the quality of the signal. The transmission towers are about 19 miles away and I was getting all bars on the signal strength. No fidgiting with the rabbit ears was required and the picture has no ghosting. Clearly, this is not the over the air TV of the 60's and 70's.
In addition to the HD shows, I'm also getting a 720 digital signal on most of the non-HD programming, which is a big improvement over the 480 analog. The improvement is so good, I'm thinking of getting another tuner for my other hd-ready TV.
I do have a couple of small complaints. As noted by other reviewers, the channels seem to change very slowly using the remote and you need very good aim. And, don't lose the remote because you cannot change the channel without it. Another reviewer noted that it takes a bit of time for the unit to boot up when first turned on, which I can also confirm. He also noted that the unit gets very hot, which is NOT my experience.
Happy viewing!
