This simple glass stand is elegant in its simplicity, and the dark bronze legs are a perfect frame for the Sony 46" HDTV. We have it placed in that passageway to the outside, and it makes a decorative statement that complements both rooms. You can assemble simply in less than 30 minutes (they even include extra caps and smaller parts); the result is sturdy, and elegant. Best money I could have spent, and it arrived two days after I placed the order. Don't worry about backing it into a corner or against a wall (unless you have a roustabout dog or young adventurous children). It would easily take a 52" flat screen as well. (More customer reviews)If you have a new Macbook from April 2010+, and are looking for an adapter for HDMI W/ audio THIS IS THE ONE. I spent 30 minutes looking through Amazon to make sure it would be the right one, so let me save you the trouble and say it is!
Make sure you go to settings and switch audio to "HDMI out".
Now the problem... It's not a problem with this product at all (thus the 5 star rating). The Macbook won't control the volume with the keyboard through HDMI out, you have to control it from the TV/Monitor/external speakers. Not sure why, I guess that's just how Digital audio works. This was a surprise to me, so I wanted to let you all know that.
The audio sounds fantastic!

(More customer reviews)If you don't care about the fact that you'll never be able to remove it again, this product definitely seems to do the job is was made for. However, it is not true that it will not do any damage to your TV shelf/tabletop, as the manufacturers claim. If you decide to use this, you better be committed as to where you'll be putting it, because you'll never be able to move the metal adhesives again (at least not without ripping the finish off any wood piece of furniture). Was a bit disappointed by this aspect, since it seemed like a bit of false advertising.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice-looking unit, in a modern minimalist way. It's possibly a little difficult to tell from the photographs, but the steel frame has a nice semigloss enamel covering. With reasonable care, it doesn't look like the finish will nick off.
It comes well-packed in a single carton, weighing nearly 100 pounds. All parts are embedded in custom-molded polystyrene foam. Be aware that you'll have a LOT of foam to discard. Once you wrestle the box into your domicile, individual parts are light. A small-framed person might wish to have a helper for the three glass shelves. Assembly instructions are simple and reasonably clear. Anyone with the slightest bit of mechanical aptitude should be able to put this stand together in under an hour. While quite solid mechanically, I did have one bolt that didn't grip its specified hole. There doesn't appear to be any warping. Instead, I believe the hole wasn't quite properly tapped. There's enough redundant support that I'm not going to worry about it.
One small complaint. The framework is comprised of hollow steel pieces. Depending on your listening levels and choice of listening material, there's some chance that this frame could resonate slightly. The very best frames would fill those areas with bags of sand or some other damping material. This is a minor problem at worst.

Philips 32PFL5403D/27 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

This is the 3rd hdtv lcd I have purchased this year but the 1st one I am happy with. I purchased a Samsung earlier this year after reading all the amazing reviews, maybe I was expecting too much but I felt disappointed when I had it at home. I then purchased the HP Media Smart 42" with the wifi, it is a nice lcd but it is way overpriced because of the useless wifi which is impossible to setup anyway. Took that right back to bestbuy the next day. Now for the Philips. I was debating whether to get the Sony Bravia L or this Philips. Even though this is more expensive I went with the Philips because of that gut feeling I had everytime I was disappointed with an lcd I told myself I should have got the Philips. Well I finally did and I am very happy with my purchase. I got it for $691 at Sams Club. As soon as it became available I ordered it. I have had it for 3 days now. As soon as I opened the box I liked the glass stand. The lcd itself has a very nice elegant minimalist design which I love. The remote is very simple I like it as well, one thing that would truly make it better would be some sort of backlight, but after a while I will memorize the location of the buttons anyway. When I plugged in all my equipment, just the cable box and the Cambridge Soundworks i765 which I use as my dvd player and external speakers for the lcd, I powered it on and it walked me thru the setup which is very simple. Instead of the usual numbers to calibrate the settings, it walks you thru sets of pictures, half of the screen one setting the other half the screen the other, you select which half you prefer, then the lcd knows what you prefer and it is all setup. It does the best job of analog of any of these newer hdtvs I have seen or had, that makes me very happy. It is also great for dvds and hdtv. All around and for the money it has me very happy. The reason I did not get the 42" is because for my room the 42" is just too big that is a big reason I returned the HP Mediasmart lcd besides that I realized that I overpaid for useless and complicated to setup wifi. So for anybody looking for a well priced lcd hdtv that is great for both analog and digital video this is a must buy television.

For a memory based device, it is curious that there would be a mechanical noise on the audio track. It is a shame as the device is beautifully designed, easy to operate and captures nice quality images. Contacted Samsung and they would not say anything other than to return it for servicing. Very disappointing. I decided to go for a hybrid device instead and ordered a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. It's fantastic and takes good HD video as well as beautiful stills.

(More customer reviews)Ok let's start by telling you, that I am not just some guy doing a review. I have purchased and tested 3 other Soundbars and tested all the rest in the stores... First was the Vizio Bar - Ok sound, but did not produce a real surround sound effect. And I was able to max... out the volume at 3am in the morning with out waking anyone up... Needless to say it ain't all that loud... Although it had easy one wire hookup with a fiber optic cable... Second was the Sony HTC100 with HDMI hookups. This one was loved for it"s ease to hookup HMDI components straight to it and it acted as a switch. The big thing is, this unit was horrible on sound. I turned it up to it's max of 50 and could still hear my dishwasher in the background... As a matter of fact when me and best buy guy Dave tried it, we could talk over it on max vol... Now for the Samsung HW-C450: Amazing - amazing- amazing... This unit out did all the others on volume of only 26 with a max of I don't know (I think 60), because I'm afraid to turn it up because it may bust the speakers it's so loud... This Sound bar is great for the person who knows nothing about 5.1 and 7.2 channel theater systems. You will be very happy. Now I am a owner of a old Sherwood Receiver and 5.1 Dolby Surround System, with Cerwin Vega speakers... And it doesn"t give the back noise as great, but it definitely stands it's ground for a one pc speaker... Now for someone who knows about theater systems, don't get scare, this is the best low cost unit you can get and you will be amazed, but all I'm saying is, don't expect a 5.1 Dolby Sound from this. It is amazing sound, but doesn't hit every corner like your seperate speakers will. Now for design, A+++... Samsung gets thumbs up from me. It's not a big as the others @38" I think... But this thing hits harder then the rest. But the look is classy with revealed speakers with the crome tone tips... Just nice... Oh and I almost forgot it's touch operated, which is a nice added feature... Now for room size, mine covers a petty good sized family room. And still rattles the walls upstairs. And clearly heard outside the house. This one has 2 options for sound hook up, Analog RCA (Provided) and Fiber Optic (Provided). I opted for Fiber Optic, because my TV automatically sends the sound from the TV to the Soundbar. Which is the easiest thing for me, because it saves you from having to hook up and waste money on a receiver. All you would have to do if you had all HDMI hookup (Seeing if your TV didn't already have enough of them) is buy a HDMI switch from online or Best Buy. I use my Cable box HDMI, Blu Ray Player HDMI, DVD/VCR HMDI. But if you havee more things like Wii, Xbox360, etc. The switch will help you send the signal to the TV. I have not found any negatives with the unit as of yet. It has played both, burned DVDs well and regular ones with great sound... So there has not been any problems... Great sound, Great look, and Great price... And the Wireless Sub is fantastic. Use Cinema for Music, not Music... Under the equalizer. Has about 5 options...
