My wife occasionally complains that the picture looks "weird" because it is too crisp and the colors are too bold. It is like looking out the window, you actually feel like you are there. I am still playing with some of the Net features but it seems like there are some good possibilities on this TV.
I updated over the internet by connecting my ethernet cable. It was a bit slow but seemless. Much easier than updating most things. The only complaint was the TV played in the background (behind a large progress rectangle) while the update was happening but there was no ability to turn down the volume so be prepared!
The picture seems great although it is our first larger screen and some of the shows had a soap opera feel to them. This may just be more noticible on a larger screen. The bezel is very stylish and looks contemporary.

(More customer reviews)I already own 4 Sharp LCD TV's. This TV is to replace my bedroom 37" Sharp LCD that is about 6 years old (still works great, but will be putting it in my kids' playroom).
So, after looking around at all the different brands I decided once again to buy a Sharp, the LC-40LE810UN. Reading about all the nice features of this unit, including the introduction of the new color (yellow) technology is what did it for me.
After 1 week of using my new TV I am happy to report I made a great choice picking this unit. I explain the main points why:
* LED technology provides cleaner, brighter lighting. This is apparent as soon as you turn on the TV. As this unit is edge lit, not sure I see a difference between it, or a back lit LED unit. Need more time to evaluate this I guess.
*Adding yellow as a fourth color is definitely noticeable, and I like it. As most people know plasma TV's give you better color than LCD TV's. My Panasonic plasma TV is proof of this. However, I believe the LC-40LE810UN is a step up in LCD technology that brings it closer to plasma-like colors.
* Overall picture quality is excellent.
*The speakers are great, clear and loud. To me this is a major improvement for Sharp as their speakers are always horrible (like on the other Sharp units I have).
*The picture and sound adjustment options are plentiful and easy to use. This has always been the case with every Sharp TV I've owned. This one is slightly better/more user friendly.
*The unit is very well built and elegant looking, especially the glass base.

In closing, I am definitely recommending the LC-40LE810UN to all. You'll really like it!

(More customer reviews)This TV has an amazing picture. Great deep blacks and vibrant colors. You must have a good clean HD signal to fully appreciate this TV. I have an RCA amplified HD antenna (rabbit ears) and the World Cup 2010 games are superb. I leave the settings on SPORTS mode and play with the brightness and color settings depending on the content. The NET TV feature is nice. It requires an internet connection through WIFI (wireless) or ethernet (wire). VUDU is great for instantly renting movies and the quality is excellent. The other content needs better programming in the future.
PROS: Great dynamic picture, Low power consumption (1.3 AMPS), Aesthetically pleasing beautiful design, only 2 inches thick, great menus, good remote control unit, low price.
CONS: NO ANALOG AUDIO OUTPUT JACK.

MY experiences/opinions are (scale of 1-10, 10 being the best):
Handling, ability to move to desired location: 10 ... light, easy for 1 person to move,maneuver, install on stand
Easiness to initially setup/get useful asap: 10 ... You really do NOT need the directions, but they are excellent
Connections amount,availability, setup: 10 ... I have cable, a PS3, and Xbox360, dvd ... too easy if you ask
me !
Viewing: 9 ... great from even extreme angles. Adjustments in the menu DO fine tune your individual needs.
: the 1080P shines in action movies, sports, and especially video games ... resolution is phenomenal !
: I've experienced NO bleeding of colors or blurriness in high speed transitions
Audio: 7 ... OK at best, but I bought it for its viewing capabilities, NOT expecting a 'Bose' audio capacity.
One of its menu items allows you to keep advertising volumes the same as network broadcast volumes...
Mine does NOT function that way... commercials still too loud
I have it (easily connected to) enhanced by my stereo system, so this is a wash as far as I am concerned
when wanting to listen to a Nascar race, music concert, or other venue.
Price: I did a LOT of homework, and found the price very acceptable in comparison to other tv's boasting
similar if not identical capabilities... I bought mine on sale at Best Buy, but lucked into a good price
Green : Not much heat coming out of the uppermost exhaust vents
My end result: A great buy.

YES, a thumbs "UP" !
After owning a SONY HD tv, and experienced their lack of customer attention/satisfaction... a
lack of callback on their part force me to forever part with them as a trusted manufacturer.
In my opinion, their (SONY) trusted name is forever trashed/overpriced... if they will not
service what they sell... I want no part of them !

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV recently from a national chain store on a semi-whim (I'd been wanting a new TV for a little while but wasn't sure if this was the time to buy). Surprised by how few reviews there were, I decided to write this one.
While shopping with my wife, we wandered over to the TV wall just to check out what was available, and I proceeded to wander up and down the wall looking at the TVs. Slowly I narrowed my pool by size (37"-42"), technology (LED LCD), resolution (1080p), and refresh rate (120Hz-240Hz). After all that, I shocking found myself staring at a Philips set (at a great price). The picture was clear, colors were vibrant (probably over-saturated for the sales floor but that's par for the course, I believe), and the bezel was clean and understated. Honestly, I couldn't believe it. I asked my wife which one she liked, and she picked the same one! We decided to purchase this TV and have loved it ever since I set it up.
The performance:price ratio on this TV is unbelievable. I'm the type of person who lives by the "get what you pay for" mantra, and, honestly, the price was the only thing that scared me about this TV. Is the deal too good to be true? Since we bought the TV without researching it first (another past time of mine), I hopped on teh almighty interwebz as soon as we got home. I could only find a couple negative comments, and I will elaborate on them here:
- The remote and TV IR sensor are a little picky. An angry customer commented that you have to point the remote directly at the TV for it to work. This is not entirely true. The sensor is placed in the bottom middle of the bezel while most TVs have them out to the sides these days. He probably had something sitting directly in front of the TV blocking the sensor. I had to move our center channel speaker to the side a little so the remote has a clear path to the senor. Seems to be an average remote experience to me - just something to be aware of.
- Video games lag with the 120Hz processing turned on. I only tried it with the setting at Minimum on my Xbox 360, but the video does noticeably lag (not a lot, but you can see it) at that setting. Solution: Turn it off. It's as simple as that.
- For the short time I had the 120Hz processing turned on, I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not. It seems really cool, but my wife did not like it at all. There seems to be a little judder (like they skip, I guess that's the term) in fast moving objects with the setting on Minimum. We just turned it off and have left it that way. Honestly, after reading about the technology more, I'm not sure the programming for this feature is there yet. I'm a little bit of a purist so I'll just leave the video the way it is recorded and broadcast.
- I've read some complaints about the sound. Well, what do you expect when the speakers are mounted on the back of the TV? I haven't auditioned the built-in sound setup since I have everything running through my home theater system, but I can't imagine the sound would be very good reverberating off of the wall behind it or the entertainment center surrounding it.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this TV (especially since I was able to get it for roughly half of the competitors' price!). Philips may be able to offer this TV at a lower price because they don't do as much sponsoring, advertising, or PR as other brands like Samsung, LG, and Panasonic. This TV sat next to Samsung on the wall, and it outshined the Samsung. The menu experience is very sleek and quick. Not sure if this menu is proprietary to Philips or not, but it's certainly not one of the generic specials I see on all the store/off-brand TVs. The TV menu even has an option to add devices to it by linking a description+icon (video game, DVD, Cable/Satellite, etc.) to an input. My wife LOVES this feature even though we won't use it (AV receiver does all the switching). I even used a USB key to update the firmware on the TV. It was easy and executed flawlessly. Blu ray looks great on this TV, as well. The colors and details really pop. I'm hoping this TV will last my wife and I quite a while :)
