LG 55LHX 55-Inch LCD HDTV, Gloss Black Review

LG 55LHX 55-Inch LCD HDTV, Gloss Black

The number one reason why I got this unit was for the size and the wireless HD capabilities.
I hang this unit over the fireplace with Sanus VMPL50B wallmount.
The TV is about 60lbs, so you will need a friend to help you hang it up on the wall.
The screws for wall mounting was already attach to the TV which was great.
Once I have on the wall and after I plug in the power behind the TV, NO MORE other wires are needed. I put the wireless media box which came with the set about 10 feet away with no direct line of sight and was able to show HD tv with great clarity WIRELESSly... this is a great feature.
I have wireless phone, internet and head sets which did not cause any interference with this TV.
The 55LHX's lg logo on the TV is where the TV's receiver is, so if you stand right in front, you will see some static or no picture as you are no blocking the signal. But, I will know to avoid to stand right in front of the TV :)
The viewing angle is good, I tilt it downwards about 12 degrees for less glare. The TV screen do not reflect much, but the black frame does.
Just a note, with the 240HZ True motion on, sports looks very life like; but on movies it looks 3D ish, so shut I had to shut it off. Now I know why a 240Hz tv can possibly view 3d movies.
I have a Pioneer plasma which still looks way better than this TV, but this TV is as good if not better than my sharp Aquos. So, maybe its a settings thing.
There are lots of settings, but I have yet to find the best one, so please leave me a comment if you know what the best settings are....GL.

LG 47SL90 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black Review

LG 47SL90 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black
Average Reviews:

If you are looking for a latest technology LED HDTV you probably have come across this LED panel from LG. I read the other reviews on here and am a little suspicious some of these people might work for LG?
O.K There is good as well as bad and it certainly isn't all bad, but don't be fooled by some of the over zealous reviews on here about this product. It looks great in the stores but might not do as well in the realities of your home. Please read on.
The Good!
The panel looks great cosmetically, its slim, the boarder is there (its just that it doesn't protrude from the screen like most its contained within the glass panel it self. The price is competitive.
Picture clarity under ideal viewing conditions is impeccable. 1080P and 1080I modes ee this TV perform at its best. Connected to a Blu-ray player playing 1080P, with the all the blinds closed is top notch!!
The Not so Good.
The screen has some serious glare issues (as it's a glass screen) If you have this screen anywhere near a window(s) especially behind you the viewer, it's really difficult to get your eyes to focus out the images reflected from behind you. My much older Westinghouse LCD has an anti-glare screen and copes much better than the LG does in usual viewing situations like this. The 120 Hz True-motion setting just doesn't work and causes some serious pixel issues. This effect can be seen clearly around people on screen. The Panel works O.K when this feature is turned off. Calibration and cinema mode settings seem to work just fine.
Low resolution viewing (lower than 720P) is not that great and again is out performed, in my personal opinion, by my much older Westinghouse TV)
I have found some strange issues watching recorded programs on my DVR such as "Flash Forward" the other night which had a great deal of dark scenes. It seemed almost like I was watching in Low resolution, the picture quality was not at all good. However watching the latest Star Trek on Blu-ray is just outstanding - so I don't know if this is an issue with resolution, black levels or 1080I versus 1080P settings.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a LED panel and have ideal viewing conditions and your primary input is going to be HD sources especially DVD's on Blu-ray, then this is the TV for you. If you are going to be watching multiple TV programs in more realistic household settings you may want to look at other options with screens that are less glossy.

This TV has an amazingly beautiful picture, with deep darks and bright colors, and good saturation even in soft, light colors that might get washed out on other TVs. Scenic panoramas are so realistic! One reviewer said they thought the picture was too dark overall, but I can't understand why, unless it's being watched in a very bright room. My experience is that we had to turn the LED backlight down a lot to make it dim enough and save our retinas. We're very impressed with the picture quality and the sound is even impressive for a TV, but we still hooked it up to the stereo system, because of course that's better. But we were impressed with the audio quality as far as TV speakers go.
There was an issue with 1 of the 4 HDMI ports not working, however LG said for any TV over 30", they will send a technician to your home to repair any issue not caused by customer abuse, and this would be covered, but since we only really need 2 inputs, it's a tolerable defect. One other small complaint is that the HDMI ports have a loose fit, however, in three weeks, we only had to tighten once and they're holding steady. The ports are just around behind the screen, easily accessible without going behind the TV, so it's no problem. These issues are minor, and I would still choose this TV over others for it's great picture quality! I'm very happy we bought it, and at such a great price. And for LG's fabulous customer support, 5 stars.
The seller was great (Video & Audio Center) and shipped it same day for free. It arrived in just a couple days.

Purchased the TV at a great discount from the normal price. Set it up and have been amazed at the quality. My wife occasionally complains that the picture looks "weird" because it is too crisp and the colors are too bold. It is like looking out the window, you actually feel like you are there. Sharp has made a fantastic product that actually backs up the hoopla of the commercials.

Viore LED22VF60 22-Inch 1080p LCD Television (Black) Review

Viore LED22VF60 22-Inch 1080p LCD Television (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought this TV for my fiancee from a local retailer, and I am quite pleased with it.
I am quite sure there are HDTVs out there that have a much better picture quality, but this is a massive improvement over my fiancee's old analog tube TV.
There are also several inherent advantages this has over the old tube monster.
1) Even though this TV has a bigger screen, it still takes up not even 1/4 the space of the old tube.
2) This TV weighs about 1/8 of the old tube.
3) Being this is an LED illuminated TV, it uses considerably less power, drawing a mere 12 volts instead of the tube's 115 volts.
4) This TV has an expected operating lifespan around double that of a tube TV.
About the TV, I had already read multiple reviews about it, many of them deriding the sound quality.
There is, however, a very good explanation and solution for that problem.
First, you need to go into the menu, then look under the Audio settings and switch off "Surround Sound" to put it back to standard stereo.
Unfortunately, the default setting has that switched on.
The so called "Surround Sound" on this is a cheap imitation not even as good as Dolby Pro-Logic, and it does indeed make it sound as if the sound is being played underwater, with a lot of gimmicky swirling effects.
Very annoying, that.
Switching that off produces a very acceptable stereo sound image.
However, yes, this is a super thin TV of only one inch thickness, and that necessitates very shallow speaker cones, so this makes for rather undersized speakers that are about as good as standard computer speakers.
However, the manufacturer had the presence of mind to have a headphone jack built into the back of the unit, which easily allows you to simply plug in a better set of speakers to improve the sound.
Besides, I suspect most serious movie watchers will dispense with the sound from the TV altogether by having their DVD player and satellite tuner play through a proper high end 5.1 setup.
As for myself, until I get around to moving my Yamaha 5.1 setup over to my fiancee's house, we are both perfectly content to watch movies on this nice little TV with its integral speakers.
Another aspect of this TV that is noteworthy is that it includes two HDMI jacks, making it a simple matter to hook up the satellite tuner to HDMI1 and the DVD player to HDMI2.
We then simply use the "Input" button on the remote to select between the two HDMI jacks to watch either what DishNetwork is broadcasting or a DVD.
For anyone who wants to know, yes, this includes an ATSC tuner, so anyone with a rooftop antenna or rabbit ears for over-the-air broadcasts will be able to seamlessly watch TV without requiring a separate converter box.
It also includes A/V jacks (Yellow-Video, Red-Right Audio Channel, White-Left Audio Channel), so you can easily hook up your three wire A/V cable to it.
It also has an RF connector for those of you who hook up your TV to coax cables.
Finally, for input, it also has the component video hookups (RGB) for the best picture short of HDMI.
Other jacks this TV includes are:
1) A COAX connector for hookup to a 5.1 COAX connection
2) Headphone jack (already mentioned above)
3) Two HDMI jacks (already mentioned above)
4) VGA connector that allows hookup to a computer's standard D-Sub video cable
5) Audio jack that allows an audio device to play through the speakers on the TV => often used with a computer sound card
6) Power
7) USB, which I seriously doubt anyone will have occasion to use, as it is intended strictly for updating the TV firmware
Are there better TVs out there?
Absolutely, and the one I intend to get when I can eventually afford it is the 32" Samsung LED TV.
However, this is small enough that it sits nicely on my fiancee's rather top heavy DVD cabinet, and it is quite nice for spending an afternoon sitting on the couch together.
You will really enjoy this TV, and you can even completely bypass the speakers if you don't like them if you so choose.
***ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION***
Having used this TV for the last few months, I have discovered two useful bits of information.
1) If you are looking to program a universal remote to work with this TV, I would suggest you look under the Samsung TV section for a valid code.
I did that with our DishNetwork remote, and we can fully control this TV with it.
2) This TV has a COAX jack to allow an external A/V receiver to decode digital audio to output to speakers.
The jack works for that purpose, but with one small problem, which is that the audio that comes out of it is limited to stereo ONLY.
Anyone wanting to listen to stereo only through his receiver won't mind that, but you will not be able to get 5.1 or other surround sound out of that jack.
We overcame that problem using our Toshiba 1080p upscaling DVD player by hooking the TV HDMI input to the HDMI output of the player, then hooked the COAX output jack on the rear of the DVD player directly to the COAX input of our A/V receiver.
We now fully enjoy Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 6.1/5.1 this way.

I just purchased the LG 47LX9500 and it is amazing, I have yet to see the 3D, but I did get a glimpse out in Europe with a video game and it was amazing.... So I can't wait to see how it looks. The design is flawless and really heavy with a glass protecting the screen. I hooked up my PS3 and played AVATAR bluray and I was blown away (can't wait for the 3D version). I also hooked up my XBOX 360 and it is more than I could ever imagine. I know I'll have this TV for a long time. The price I got for was the kicker, originaly retailed at $3500 I got it at Fry's electronics for a mere $1250 (+tax and 3 year warranty)
NOT BAD DEAL AT ALL.
I would recommend that you wait for the retail price to drop to get this TV from LG. Make sure you get the correct HDMI cable that goes with it as well, and if you are into great sound shop for a good receiver that you can get your speakers pluged into.

I have been very happy with my new TV! I looked at all the LEDs available and settled on this one because of its cool features and because it doesn't have the stupid glossy screen that everyone is obsessed with for some reason. I hate glossy screen TVs, you can't see anything but reflections!
Anyways, I only had two negative things about this TV. 1. I could have sworn that Pandora was part of the features when I bought it, but it is not! I am pretty upset about that. 2. It caused some serious lag with the Wii, even with the new upgraded cables, I still have to adjust my movements to anticipate what will happen.
The picture quality is amazing, there is no/minimal ghosting with movements. The energy settings are pretty cool. I like the remote and the ease of using netflix (although you can only access your list, no searching). It takes some getting used to, everything looks too "real." But now I love it. I love watching movies I have seen a dozen times and seeing something new!

[Anyone remembers the old "I am not going to spend a lot for this muffler" commercial?]
Just in case someone may feel guilty for not paying a lot more for, basically the same thing, let's look at one of our top of the line offers in premium HDMI, Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable (2 meters) and do a quick comparison.
For a lot less, the BLUE Advanced supports the HDMI 1.3a/b standard. Any HDMI 1.3 cable can carry up to 10.2 Gbit/s. Hmmm... I suppose the Monster is much better, right? Well... it "guarantees a certified cable bandwidth of 10.2" Okay, but the Monster also supports "x.v.Color, and Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD". It turns out that, all of the above, and more, are part of the HDMI 1.3 specs and they are fully supported by every cable that complies to the standard and can be had for about 95% less in the Premium Gold. The expensive brand presentation simply enumerates the HDMI 1.3 specs as if it being HDMI 1.3 compliant was a really big deal. It is not a big deal. Even a cable that costs 95% less is HDMI 1.3 compliant.
My suggestion: if you think that the proponents of the expensive brand have a point when they claim that their product is a lot more durable, buy TWO Blue Advanced wires and still pay significantly less than half of what you would pay for one of the expensive ones.
My personal experience: I've never paid 'a lot' for an HDMI cable because it makes no sense to pay more. I took home one of the 'expensive' ones once because the salesman promised to take it back if I wasn't amazed by the difference. It made zero difference and I returned it.

I first bought the Vizio 42 inch VIA with internet apps. The TV just did not seem responsive at times, and you could not hook into your home network. I noticed this Sony and read into it. It allows you to connect to your home network and access video, music and other files off your home computer. It also has about 60 or so apps. A few months ago this TV was around $2000.00. I bought it at Sam's Club for half of that price. Amazing picture quality, way better than the Vizio LCD. So for abouth the same price as the Vizio 42" LCD, I got a 46" LED LCD SONY HDTV with all the things I wanted. Also the TV comes with the WIFI adapter to connect wirelessly to your home router. I believe the first shipment of this model did not come with the adapter and had to purchased seperately for around $75. So that is a nice addition. This TV is perfect for my family. Since we have gotten rid of DISH and cable. I just use windows media center to record all my favorite shows and then watch them by accessing them through the Sony Bravia Network connection on the TV. Also have a $9 Netflix subscription to stream videos instantly so the kids get to watch their shows as well. Since we are hardly home to watch TV with 3 children and full time employment, my wife and I decided to go this route. Much cheaper for us!
Get this TV it is great. JK

With that being said, in my experience I've never been disappointed with something I've bought that I've done extensive research on...
And that holds true with the Vizio VF550M.
I bought my set at Costco during the Thanksgiving Weekend Sale. One of the first things I noticed right out of the box was how big it really was. I upgraded from a 46" LCD and the size was noticeably (and awesomely) huger. Yes... huger. When I saw the VF550M display at Costco it just didn't look that big because it was set next to other 50-60 inch sets and in the middle of a huge warehouse. However, while setting it up I realized it was the perfect size for the further viewing distance in our family room. The set-up was easy enough. I mounted the tv with the VideoSecu Adjustable Tilt TV Wall Mount (bought on Amazon) which I was very pleased with. We ran the cables through the wall to my devices to hide them... and I must say, it looks beautiful mounted to a wall. I would definitely recommend mounting this set. I didn't care too much for the remote that came with the TV so I opted to upgrade to the Logitech Harmony 670 remote (also got on amazon).
The picture on this TV was just as good or better than any other HDTV I have ever seen. The black levels are great with the DCR feature. Blu-Ray looks amazing on the big screen. I will admit I jumped on the 120hz bandwagon and as of right now I couldn't be happier with it when it comes to watching sports- but thats all I use 120hz (or "Smooth Motion Effect") for.
PROS
-BIG
-Great 120hz feature for Sports
-Good out of the box sound
-5 HDMI ports!
-Stunning picture
CONS
-Don't care for the remote

First of all you can get the tv at best buy during sales for 2199 and then get them to match a coupon for sears for 10% off.
Secondly, there are no voice issues if you use the right kind of hdmi cable...get the brand new updated version and you won't have
any problems. Third, do yourself a favor and buy the new ps3 to play your movies on..even if you don't need a game system.
It has wireless networking, it's down to 299 and it will display all your photos and music on your tv, it's like having a 120
gig hard drive hooked up to your tv with blueray capability. I have been looking for a year for the right tv and i knew this
was it. The picture is fully backlit, instead of edgelit like the Samsung, that makes a big difference in the details. The
other thing is that the picture is absolutely stunning. The LED technology will save you money over plasmas and last longer...
approximately 7-15 years longer. It doesn't run as hot as plasmas, the electricity cost you a lot less, there's no fear of burn in,
the picture is unbelievable and there's several places to use it as a computer monitor. Pertaining to other people's comments
about the power light, it actually blends into the background when you're watching tv or a movie, it's not bothersome at all, but
in the case that it does bother you really bad, hey, just get a sharpie, lol. Some of you reading this are wondering what tv to
buy. If you do your research, consumer reports, cnet and all those, they will tell you this is one of the best in the 55" category.
The contrast ratio is 2,000,000 to 1, the automotion ms response time is 4 or less because of the 240 hz, not as fast as a plasma but how many people were complaining when there lcd's were just 120 hz...no one was. Anyway, good luck with your decision but at the end
of the day if you buy this tv, you'll be happy.

LG 42SL90 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black Review

LG 42SL90 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV, Glossy Black
Average Reviews:

After extensive research and visits to video stores, we chose the 42SL90 for several reasons - stunning HD quality, LED technology (3,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio), small form factor, and excellent price/value. We were limited in size by our entertainment center - most other 42 inch sets were too wide, but the form factor of the 42SL90 is so svelte that it fits perfectly. After comparing 40 inch sets with 42 inch sets, the extra 2 inches of real estate was quite a noticeable improvement.
The HD picture on this set is absolutely stunning, much better than our Sony LCD XBR that sits in another room. We watch the SL90 from a distance of 10 feet and the size is perfect. All the bells and whistles have so far worked flawlessly. Blu Ray, DVDs, HD Roku, and HD cable look fantastic. Standard Def is actually watchable, again better than the Sony XBR.
The set comes with two remotes - a beautiful backlit model and a simpler model with just the basic functions. The menu system is easily the best I have ever used. Very intuitive and simple to use. The picture adjustments are extremely extensive. A picture wizard is included to calibrate to your own tastes. If you can't find an optimum setting with this set, you should not be watching TV. The color accuracy appears to be spot on out of the box.
Given its thin 1.15 inch depth, the sound is better than I expected. I have yet to turn it up past the 50% volume level. Adjustments for bass, treble, and surround sound. And the Clear Voice II function works great. Hook the set up to a sound system and it really shines. The only cons so far (and we knew about these going in) - no analog audio out (optical only) and no PIP. I purchased a Gefen Dolby optical converter that allows the SL90 to work flawlessly with our legacy sound system.
We have the SL90 hooked up to an LG BD390 Blu Ray player, so we also have full wireless access to services such as Netflix, Vudu, and YouTube via the Blu ray player. The 42SL90 also includes LG's Simplelink Technology. So, when you pop a DVD into the LG Blu Ray player, the SL90 turns itself on and automatically switches to the DVD player input, ready to play your DVD! If the set is already on, it will still switch to the DVD input automatically.
Highly recommend the 42SL90. It is a stunning set to watch and easily the best looking set when turned off too. In fact, the new 2010 high-end Sony sets have copied LG's "borderless" design concept exactly, renaming the Sony design "monolithic" - quite a compliment indeed.

Sharp LC60LE810UN 60-Inch LED LCD HDTV Review

PROS: Size (60"), 1.5 inches thick, Picture quality, Panel, Price, Value, Aquos Support, LED, Aquos Net
CONS: Screen uniformity (inherent in most edge lit LED models)
This Sharp LED television is an awesome set. This set has the Quattron technology which adds the color yellow to the RGB spectrum. I have noticed that the colors are sharper and more vibrant. Purists will tell you there is no advantage to adding an additional color to the RGB spectum. All I know is I can clearly see the advantages in overall skin tone color, background colors, and I even noticed more intense eye colors on actors! Something I never noticed before on my plasma or standard LCD. I previously owned the Samsung 55C7000 set, but was turned off by its screen uniformity issues and "flashlighting". This set does exhibit some screen uniformity issues, but none to the degree of the new Samsung edge lit model I previously owned.
I found these calibration settings on the 'net' and they really help dial in the Sharp's colors. I will share them here:
Backlight -2
Contrast +25
Brightness +1
Color +1
Tint -2
Sharpness 0
CMS Hue Keep at 0
CMS Saturation Keep at 0
CMS Value Keep at 0
Color Temp Low
R Gain (LO)+8
G Gain (LO)0
B Gain (LO)+25
R Gain (HI) +9
G Gain (HI)0
B Gain (HI) +17
Gamma -1
These settings are a great, and a little tweaking to your liking will have you viewing your Sharp in a whole new way!
BY THE WAY: The picture AMAZON is using to identify this set is incorrect. It looks exactly like the picture of the Sharp LC-60LE820UN on Amazon's page.

VIZIO VF551XVT 55-Inch XVT-Series TruLED 240 Hz SPS HDTV Review

VIZIO VF551XVT 55-Inch XVT-Series TruLED 240 Hz SPS HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
VIZIO's VF551XVT is proof that VIZIO can produce not just high value TVs but high performance ones as well. Currently the lowest priced LED-backlit LCD TV with local dimming capability, the VF551XVT offers similar performance to TVs from the name brands which may sell for up to twice the price.
The set's "240 SPS" processing is not "true" 240 Hz, but is really 120 Hz processing with a scanning backlight to effectively get 240 "scenes" per second. The feature does reduce motion blur on things like sports and live TV broadcasts, but we found that it added an unnatural video-like look to movies, not unlike other brands' motion smoothing/motion interpolation technology. Also, off-axis viewing is fairly typical for LCD TVs, turning blacks to bluish gray and generally losing color saturation outside a 90 degree viewing angle (45 degrees in either direction).
But viewed on axis (straight ahead), or slightly off axis, the TV produces exceptional black levels for an LCD TV. Dark films on Blu-ray such as "Blade Runner" and "The Dark Knight" produced inky black images with very good shadow detail and crisp image delineation with no noticeable haloing. Colors also appear accurate, with good flesh tones once the set is properly calibrated.
The VF551XVT lacks any kind of internet streaming or IPTV features - this will be coming early next year in the VF552XVT. It's also significantly thicker than the latest LED-backlit TVs from Samsung and LG, but if you're looking for a big flat panel LCD TV with excellent contrast, it's hard to go wrong with the VIZIO.
A complete review of the VF551XVT is available on Big Picture Big Sound (dot com).

TruLED is comprised of 960 backlighting elements, controlled independently in 80 blocks or zones of 12 LED elements each. Local backlighting with VIZIO's Smark Dimming technology means you'll always get an incredible picture, no matter lighting in the room.

1080P Full HD Full 1080P High Definition resolution gives you over 2 million pixels, making the clarity and detail of your picture razor sharp.

Smart Dimming Smart Dimming creates 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio enabling us to achieve the richest black levels by intelligently controlling these 80 blocks of LEDs, turning them on and completely off--and richer blacks mean brighter, more bold colors.

240Hz Refresh Rate Delivers 240 scenes per second producing enhanced frame rate and delivering sharper clarity of fast action scenes for blur free images.

SRS Audio Technologies SRS TruVolume evens out dynamics to limit volume inconsistencies between programming. SRS TruSurround HD delivers immersive virtual high-definition surround sound out of the unit's two speakers.

178-Degree Horizontal and Vertical Viewing Angle The VF550M features a viewing angle of up to 178-degrees, resulting in a crisp and clear picture that is easily visible from just about anywhere in the room.

Green Technologies VIZIO's Eco HD models exceed the current Energy Star guidelines by 56% below Energy Star 3.0, which saves you money on your utility bills while limiting the impact on our planet.

In addition to the fact that LED HDTVs are more efficient than standard LCDs, the display's LED backlights do not utilize mercury, an environmentally harmful substance used in other backlights.
