O.K There is good as well as bad and it certainly isn't all bad, but don't be fooled by some of the over zealous reviews on here about this product. It looks great in the stores but might not do as well in the realities of your home. Please read on.
The Good!
The panel looks great cosmetically, its slim, the boarder is there (its just that it doesn't protrude from the screen like most its contained within the glass panel it self. The price is competitive.
Picture clarity under ideal viewing conditions is impeccable. 1080P and 1080I modes ee this TV perform at its best. Connected to a Blu-ray player playing 1080P, with the all the blinds closed is top notch!!
The Not so Good.
The screen has some serious glare issues (as it's a glass screen) If you have this screen anywhere near a window(s) especially behind you the viewer, it's really difficult to get your eyes to focus out the images reflected from behind you. My much older Westinghouse LCD has an anti-glare screen and copes much better than the LG does in usual viewing situations like this. The 120 Hz True-motion setting just doesn't work and causes some serious pixel issues. This effect can be seen clearly around people on screen. The Panel works O.K when this feature is turned off. Calibration and cinema mode settings seem to work just fine.
Low resolution viewing (lower than 720P) is not that great and again is out performed, in my personal opinion, by my much older Westinghouse TV)
I have found some strange issues watching recorded programs on my DVR such as "Flash Forward" the other night which had a great deal of dark scenes. It seemed almost like I was watching in Low resolution, the picture quality was not at all good. However watching the latest Star Trek on Blu-ray is just outstanding - so I don't know if this is an issue with resolution, black levels or 1080I versus 1080P settings.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a LED panel and have ideal viewing conditions and your primary input is going to be HD sources especially DVD's on Blu-ray, then this is the TV for you. If you are going to be watching multiple TV programs in more realistic household settings you may want to look at other options with screens that are less glossy.

(More customer reviews)I just purchased the LG 47LX9500 and it is amazing, I have yet to see the 3D, but I did get a glimpse out in Europe with a video game and it was amazing.... So I can't wait to see how it looks. The design is flawless and really heavy with a glass protecting the screen. I hooked up my PS3 and played AVATAR bluray and I was blown away (can't wait for the 3D version). I also hooked up my XBOX 360 and it is more than I could ever imagine. I know I'll have this TV for a long time. The price I got for was the kicker, originaly retailed at $3500 I got it at Fry's electronics for a mere $1250 (+tax and 3 year warranty)
NOT BAD DEAL AT ALL.
I would recommend that you wait for the retail price to drop to get this TV from LG. Make sure you get the correct HDMI cable that goes with it as well, and if you are into great sound shop for a good receiver that you can get your speakers pluged into.

VIZIO SV471XVT 47-Inch XVT-Series 240 Hz LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this tv about a week ago and have been really pleased. I previously had a 37" sharp 720p 60hz, and did not like it at all. Well after much research I had narrowed it down the Samsung LN46B750. Only problem is that tv is $1500+ dollars. So I wanted another choice and researched and for the price and quality, this Vizio is a no brainer. This XVT is Vizio's best model other than their new 55" LED.
Appearance: It looks really nice. Simple, clean, black and silver. Some people hate that the vizio light will stay orange when the tv turns off but its not really noticeable and doesn't bother me at all.
Sound: Definitely better than my old Sharp, but still nothing to write home about. I have some really nice Logitech 2.1 speakers I use if i'm really wanting the theatre experience but the built in speakers are fine.
Picture quality: This is where I was a HUGE stickler. I wanted at least 120hz, 1080p, and 4ms response time as I'm a gamer. Well this tv has all of those and even goes to 240 with the scanning backlight. The smooth motion when enabled (recommended low) is a little jarring at first, but you quickly get used to it. Not only does smooth motion help with blur, it seems to just make the entire image on screen more crisp whether its moving or not. Very pleased. Watching Dexter on showtime hd was AMAZING! The detail in the intro is just jaw dropping. And this is only in 1080i. Xbox 360 really shows how crisp it can really get. I thought Dexter details were amazing, I hadn't seen nothing until I popped in Modern Warfare 2. Its a sight to be seen. The smooth motion works beautifully on videogames. No problems with blurring at all. Very rarely will there be any judder problems and even when you see a hiccup its for like 1 second, my wife never notices it. Hopefully getting a PS3 soon and check out blurays. But if the other content is any indication of what to expect, it will be great. I just can't imagine it getting any better. We'll see.
Cons: As with all tv's there are always some quirks. I did notice the faintest of flash lighting at the top of the screen in a tiny small area. This is a problem with MANY LCD tvs and is really only noticeable when the screen is completely black, even then its barely noticeable. I only notice it cause I set out looking for these things. Compared to the flash lighting and clouding I've seen on some tvs, this one if by far and away one of the better. DO NOT at all let this problem scare you as all tv's are different and some may not have it at all. PLUS most tvs need 50-100 hours of break in time to fully get everything warmed up so most likely it will fade. Even still my wife can't see what I'm talking about lol.
Conclusion: For the price and quality, bar none the best deal you are gonna find for a while. I was able to snag mine at SAMS for $997. 360 & PS3 users, you will not be disappointed. Will update after I've had it for a while! UPDATE: 12/28/2009
Well I got a PS3 for christmas and got to see if blurays were any better than hd cable I had been viewing. I have to admit it looks incredible and does indeed look better. I got my wife the Harry Potter bluray collection, and we popped them in, absolutely CRYSTAL CLEAR. Sharp as can be, great colors. So yes, it did indeed get better than I thought. The tv handled the bluray beautifully with its motion and the colors looked dead on.
Also the flashlighting I mentioned earlier in my review has subsided quite a bit and I have to really set there and stare at the blank screen to even be able to see it, so that is good news as well.

(More customer reviews)This TV was on my short list as soon as it was announced. It's a beautiful glossy black TV, with a subtle infused blue around the edges. The blue is only really visible in certain light, otherwise it just looks glossy black, but the TV looks beautiful either way. I don't care much for the "mole" that sticks down on the bottom left of the TV as I'm a fan of symmetry, however this is still a gorgeous TV.
The LH90 series is LG's flagship LCD this year featuring backlit "local dimming" LED's, and in my IMO it's one of the best buys on the market. Local Dimming allows for deeper blacks, that rival good plasmas, and easily beat normal non LED LCD's. The picture on the this TV is fantastic. Beginning last year and continuing this year, LG offers more picture/color adjustments then any other manufacturer. Colors are great out of the box, and your video modes include Standard, Natural, THX Cinema, Sport, Game or Vivid. In addition there are two Expert modes where you can create and save the exact picture you want. Also there is an intelligent sensor mode that automatically adjusts the picture for you based on the ambient light in the room. The OSD menus are color and icon driven and very easy to use. They are much better then what is offered by most other manufacturers. The OSD menus and pictures adjustments is one area where LG trumps all other manufacturers. I would rate Samsung second in this regard.
Connections are good and notably feature 4 HDMI ports and a USB port. You can plug in your flash drive to the USB port, and leave it there if you want. I have yet to be able to get my videos to play from the flash drive, and that is the only knock I have against the TV. Pictures and MP3s worked fine.
Sound is also pretty good, and while it won't compete with a sound system, its certainly more then adequate. Sound modes include Standard, Sport, Music, Cinema, and Game.
Standard Definition viewing is pretty good. Video processing for SD is another area where LG typically outdoes other manufacturers. Samsung also typically does a good job here. Some manufacturers though tend to offer poor to mediocre video processing which can leave your picture looking mediocre to downright bad on SD channels. Most people still watch a lot of SD programming so this is an important consideration when getting a new HDTV that shouldn't be overlooked.
This model features a swivel stand like most LG models, and I'm surprised that most other manufacturers, (with the exception of Samsung) don't have swivel stands on most of their models. A few Hitachi models offer motorized swivel stands that can be controlled from your remote, which is a very nice feature.
There are raised buttons on the left side of the TV, for things like channels, volume and power. The remote is quite good with this TV and one of the best I've seen. It is well weighted, has large buttons with good tactile feel, and in general is well layed out. There is a back light button on the remote that lights most of the buttons for about 5 seconds.
I run my coaxial cable directly to the TV, and the tuner works well. The TV takes about 5 seconds to turn on.
Best of all I scored the 47in on sale, and couldn't pass it up. Size wise you can also opt for the 42LH90 or the 55LH90.
This is a great TV, but there are some other sets you may want to consider depending on your preferences. Last year's 47LG90 is still available for about 3-400 less then the 47LH90. The 47LG90 was LG's first TV to feature LED local dimming. The biggest difference is the styling of the cabinet, although I prefer the LH's styling, I liked last year's as well. The only other major difference is the bump from 120hz refresh rate to 240hz, and quite honestly it's not really noticeable in normal programming. Blooming is the only downside to local dimming Tv's, however on this set, its subtle and I only noticed it when the screen is black and was rolling credits.
Toshiba is offering the 46SV670 and 55Sv670 which also feature LED local dimming. They are competitively priced and also beautiful TV's featuring some subtle gray around the edges. The Toshiba sets however lack a swivel stand, and also lack the great OSD menu controls and adjustments of the LG. The Toshibas have something called SRT+, which purports to improve the SD picture, but there are mixed reviews as to how well this works. The Toshibas do feature a true 10bit panel, and are one of the few models on the market to do so.
Another choice soon to be offered is the Vizio VF551XVT which will offer have LED local dimming and be offered at a price similar to 47LH90 or less.
Samsung is also supposed to offer its 9000 series featuring local dimming, however those sets will likely cost a lot more. I'd advise to stay away from the Samsung 6000, 7000 & 8000 series which feature edge lit LEDs. The edge lit system is inferior and doesn't allow for the local dimming that gives you the deep blacks. Worse, the edge lit system is said to cause screen uniformity issues. The Edge lit TV's only upside is that they are very thin, (if you care about that), however you also lose side TV controls and side connections.
You can also consider a regular LCD or a plasma. In fact LG's high end 50PS80 plasma can be had for about 3-400 less. You are getting more screen, great motion resolution, wide viewing angles and the deep blacks plasma offers, all for less. Also that model offers an ethernet connection for things like Netflix and Youtube, which is one of the only features lacking in the LH90 series.
Now that Pioneer has left the market, high end Panasonic plasmas, are said to offer the deepest blacks, however IMO Panasonic does a mediocre to poor job with SD video processing, which I watch a lot of.
UPDATE 9/5/2009- I have yet to be able to play videos of any format from my flash drive using the USB port. Despite menus indicating it will play videos, the feature either doesn't work as advertised or is extremely limited in function. Pictures and mp3s still work fine. I am having the same problem with the LG 390 blue ray player.
The LH90 series has a matte screen which helps prevent reflections off the screen. It works well, however my TV is in a dimly lit bedroom and in hindsite I might have actually preferred the glossy clear screen of the similarly priced Toshiba 46SV670. Glossy screens reflect more light but they also preserve deeper black levels and colors. I would have loved to have compared these two TV's side by side.
That said, HD channels look excellent and SD channels are very good. The TV's seamless tuner works quite well, but channel surfing is a little slower then I'd like. The tuners on my old DVD and VHS players, would take about .5 secs to change a channel versus about 1.5 secs with the LH90 tuner. Still perfectly acceptable though.
If you are budgeting, I would recommend getting the biggest screen you can afford. The 47in size is a good fit for my bedroom, but if I had it to do it over again I might have sprung for the 55LH90 and scrapped buying separate speakers and a receiver. The speakers on the this TV are good enough and I think I would have appreciated more screen a lot more then slightly better sound. If you have budget constraints, you should also consider that you might be better served getting a 55in regular Samsung or LG LCD TV for the same price or less then the 47LH90. You might appreciate the extra screen more then the marginally better picture.

(More customer reviews)I have never written a review for anything, but a review for this TV is a must. It's picture quality is amazing from cable to BluRay to DVD. It has brought my old DD's to life with the motionflow 240hz technology. If you know anything about this, it looks as if you are on the set when they are filming and gives a depth to each scene. Just watched the Se7en on it (non-Blu-Ray) and caught things I missed on the set due to this TV's clarity and depth. I thought it would only bring my Blu-Ray's to life, but even movies like The Natural plain DVD were killer and made Robert Redford seem timeless like it was recently shot even though the movie was shot nearly 30 years ago.
I purchased this set from a local Fry's for 999.00 and based on thorough research and comparisons, it was a steal. Even watching the high end Sony's etc, they were giving the same picture quality at almost twice the price.
I can't speak for the lip sync issues, as I have it running to an old surround sound system and not showing any problems.
Bottom line, LG is making a rival 240hz slick design flat panel that exceeds other high end brands at a fraction of the cost.

(More customer reviews)I spent over a year researching AND trying out flat panels to find what, in my opinion, is the best deal for a premium LCD HDTV. By "premium" I mean a full HD set, over 40", 1080P display and, very important 120HZ which VIZIO calls "smooth motion". It turned out that the one set that met all my requirements, BEFORE price considerations, was the VIZIO SV470XVTa1 120HZ set. The picture is BLAZINGLY crystal clear, colors are perfect and, VERY IMPORTANT if this is to be the users primary display, is the benefit LCDS enjoy over plasmas...NO GLARE or REFLECTION off the screen! Just check out any LCD vs plasma set on display in most any store..you could comb your hair in front of a plasma and it reflects almost every light in sight. NOT so with LCD. Now here is the BEST PART of this review...you can buy a brand new VIZIO like mine described above for UNDER $1300. In some cases I've seen under $1250. You can not beat VIZIO for the best deal on a premium LCD HDTV...period! (Oh, yes, FOUR HDMI ports also!!!) One more point...VIZIO professes to be "Made in USA!"

(More customer reviews)Just wanted to give potential buyers a heads up on this TV. There are two models of this 46 inch TV that are almost identical and this can be confusing as you search for TV's that are LED, 120hz and internet connectable, both are but there are differences. One model is the 46PFL7705D/F7 and the other available model is the 46PFL7705DV/F7. The only difference being the "V". Here are the differences, the "V" model comes with Voodo software, MediaConnect Quick setup guide and USB Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n adapter. Per Philips technical service, the non "V" model is internet connectable via ethernet cable only, it is not wireless ready. If you want the wireless version get the "V" model.
Also know that you can go to Philips.com, select products, select 7000 series and then do a comparison of the two models. There is a box you can select that shows spec differences only. Trouble is, it shows no differences in the the two models at all as of this date (1-17-2011). But if you do a comparison of the 40 inch versions rather than the 46 inch version 7000 series TV's, "V" version verses the non "V" version, the differences do show up. I told the tech at Philips this info and he said he would report the problem. Anyway, just trying to help potential purchasers buy what they want and clear up the confusion here. (By the way, this probably explains the problem that reviewer Peter Pan is having). I bought the "V" version but it is in transit to me now. I wanted to get this info out, didn't want to hurt the ratings so I gave 5 stars even though I don't have it yet. Hope this helps.

This TV easily out performs that old TV. This TV is really very good when viewing HD sources. I matched a Visio Blu Ray player to use with this TV and there is amazing clarity. But, there is a noticable drop off when viewing non-HD sources like standard TV channels. Seriously, I don't think there are many 1080p sets that offer great standard definition viewing performance. Also, please note that there is an illuminated VISIO faceplate on the face of the TV that stays lit all the time. Now, using the TV in my living room this is not a problem for me, but if I had the TV in my bedroom it would drive me insane as it would probably illuminate half the bedroom! So far the only way I know to turn that light off is to unplug the tv from the power source. Please note that the remote for the VISIO TV was smaller than the remote for the VISIO Blu Ray player-that just seemed a bit odd to me. I also have difficulty menu-editing as when you are done editing they tell you to hit a button with a symbol on it that does not appear on the remote! Note sound output is pretty good-better than my 40" Sony Bravia, but I also am using a 5.1 HDMI theater sound system with it so I can pump it up even to higher levels when needed. On one BD I even had to turn the sharpness down bacause the main actor had 5 o'clock shadow that was so clear it was making me dizzy.

My first impression was positive, the hardware is beautiful and appears well made, the interface too initially seems pretty good. The 2D picture is great and the price is very appealing.
That said... Be warned the 3D crosstalk on this television is TERRIBLE! We bought it with hopes primarily of enjoying a bunch of 3D games on our PS3 (Call of Duty: Black Ops and Gran Turismo 5) only to be confronted with staggering crosstalk and ghosting. It was bad enough that my wife asked "Is the TV broken?" I find that the 3D crosstalk makes playing some games dizzying, annoying and fatiguing. In particular scenes with black on a bright (usually white) background will have your eyes crossing and head aching. For the record, we've tried with both 1.3x and 1.4 HDMI cables to no avail.

(Note: As of Dec 8th the following seems to no longer be an issue) Furthermore after viewing 3D content on the PS3 and then returning to the XMB we'd be in a very messed up state where the LG UI was corrupted and remained so until another 3D movie was played. Really screwy stuff. Hopefully we'll get a firmware update on the PS3 or LG end soon?
Update (Nov 29th): Please see the user images above for examples of the crosstalk in 3D video.
Update (Nov 30th): We've called LG twice about the crosstalk, the first call consisted of a 45 minute wait before they insisted we end the call and try against another kind of 3D content (we did, the problem persisted). The second call resulted in a 60 minute wait, speaking to a person for 2 minutes to confirm my name and phone number, then a 10 minute wait before being accidentally hung up on... LG is _really_ not impressing me here.
Update (Dec 2nd): We just had the LG Tech over about the 3D crosstalk issues. He confirmed that the 3D glasses and IR Transmitter were all functioning properly. After insisting there was no problem by examining some low cross-talk videos (like under water scenes) we showed the tech the scene I attached screenshots of (to user images above) and he was finally convinced that the crosstalk was really bad. He then left to his van for a bit (I assume to talk to his boss) and returned insisting that '3D is in it's infancy and you can't expect the 3D to work very well'... What?! If you know it doesn't work, why are you selling it?! We suggested to him that maybe the white/black (or light/dark) refresh rate of LG LED TVs might not be adequate for 3D but he insisted that the refresh rate is perfectly fine for 3D (I beg to differ!). The tech finally offered to replace the IR unit in the TV but claimed he 'didn't think it would help at all.'
So we confirmed that the TV is fine, the glasses are fine, the 3D content is fine (and the LG tech insisted that the light/dark refresh is fine) but somehow because 3D is in it's "infancy" there is horrible crosstalk?! That doesn't make any sense.
Update (Dec 8th): So the LG technician came by again yesterday to replace the part (the one that he said had no chance of resolving the 3D crosstalk problem). He (and I) were right, replacing this IR board did nothing at all to effect the 3D crosstalk/ghosting issues. I've confirmed the same amount of crosstalk in the PS3 Sizzler video and in MotorStorm 3D Rift. The technician explained that replacing the part is all he can do and from here on out it's between us and LG support... I love it when an employee of a company absolves themselves of helping you... /sigh.
Update (Dec 13th): Minus one star because LG is making this whole crosstalk problem so painful for us. We just ended our 8th call with them and they're insisting on sending another tech to look at our TV rather than giving us a replacement.
Update (Dec 15th): I've done an analysis of the crosstalk on this TV with a high speed video camera, you can see it here: [...] I think this is very convincing evidence that this TV suffers from strong crosstalk.
Update (Jan 20th): So we've now made two dozen calls to LG and had six technicians check out our TV. Although every technician agrees with us that crosstalk is a major problem on this set LG is stonewalling us and refusing to exchange or replace the TV. In the executive service reps words "we don't deal with customer service issues" and "in eight years here I've never seen a replacement offered to an unsatisfied customer". I wish those were LG's official mottos because if they were I could have saved myself a lemon of a purchase.
The Good:
* The 2D image is really great in most situations (No complaints watching Avatar, playing GT5, COD:BO, etc. in 2D).
* Good value for the size and features.
* The firmware for this TV is being actively supported by LG.
* This is the only TV I've ever owned that doesn't letterbox when connected to my wife's Mac mini.
The Bad:
* 3D crosstalk/ghosting ruins 3D functionality for almost all movies and games.
* Terrible telephone support from LG.
* Horrendous flash-lighting on blank black screen (especially with auto-dimming off)
* Overall the brightness seems very uneven in dark scenes, with or without local dimming enabled.
* Local dimming is a joke, there appear to be only about 24 dimming fields. This is not enough resolution to be practically useful.
* The UI is mediocre, you will be shown an annoying pop-up every time you enable 3D or DLNA. I hate pop-ups.
* If you have any problems LG will be completely loath to help you, we're 8 calls, 2 tech visits and countless hours into dealing with them and have no resolution in sight.
* LG, admitting problems with the 3D technology in their LED TVs is moving to another, passive, tech for their next generation of 3D sets.
Note: DON'T BUY FROM ADORAMA unless you are VERY sure you are going to love your TV. Their return policy is "No Hassle" only in as far as it's no hassle for them since they will not accept returns.

Obviously, it's not going to look exactly like you would see it in real life on a recorded video camera - and on top of that, a uploaded compressed internet video/low resolution; however, you should get a better idea of the smoothness and the size.
To be honest, when the brand name "Vizio" came to my mind before, I had a feeling it was more of a value brand than quality; however, I have a totally different view of them now after this TV. I'm impressed and more than satisfied with this TV compared to my Toshiba 40RV525R 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
47" is quite a nice size. What a difference just 7" makes. Movies and games feel way more thrilling than it ever did with the Toshiba 40" HDTV. It's a really good size for feeling like you're at the movies, but just at home.
Besides the size being an obvious upgrade, the 120Hz and "Smooth Technology" is really the other main selling point here. If you ever wanted that real feeling like you're looking through a window, then you'll want a fast motion 120Hz TV because the movement will really look faster and seem more life-like. This is really great for sports and reality TV because it really feels like you're actually there more. It really does make a difference.
However, this can be a bad thing for watching most film movies (shot at 24FPS) because it will literally make you feel like a movie shot on a film looking like it was originally shot on digital video instead! Some films just end up feeling really cheap at those speeds and is really distracting to watch (especially those shaky camera films because you'll notice the camera being more berserk than before and end up giving you more seizures; the subtle camera movements will be even more noticeable). Moreover, sometimes, when set to the max smoothness, it feels like the movie is being fast-forwarded but with the audio still magically syncing up...
Thankfully, the "Smooth Technology" can be disabled to still have that film feel (although it's still pretty smooth)! I've actually become a fan of this feature (even for someone like me who doesn't really like the modern digital look and prefers 24FPS film look) because it can actually give a whole new experience on watching films; it really gives a strange raw feeling like you're there at the scene watching it. You can enjoy movies in two different ways! It's really nice watching animation films with this feature on.
I find myself constantly turning this feature on and off depending on the content. I really wish there was easier access or button on the remote to quickly change this! It actually gets very cumbersome pressing "Menu", then "Picture", then scrolling to "Advanced Video", and then scrolling again to "Smooth Mode Effect" just to turn this feature on/off.
Speaking of the menu, it is really small and only takes up a small section of the screen. I also find it strange in order to change the aspect ratio, it's under the "Setup" option instead of the "Picture" setting. What's worse is there is no button on the remote to quickly change aspect ratios either! The remote is VERY basic. It's as basic as it can get.
Watching Planet Earth on Blu-Ray is much more enjoyable and thrilling with the 120Hz Smooth Technology because it really feels like I'm looking through a window now.
I also played PC and PS3 games on this and it looks fantastic. I played NBA 2K11, and with this TV, it really felt like I was at a real game! It is smooth 5ms and the experience is just so much more fun and amazing than it was on my Toshiba. It is such a blast to play it on this TV.
The audio on this TV actually impressed me too. You can't expect much from built-in speakers, especially in the bass department, but there's really good surround sound/depth feel to it (again, playing NBA 2K11 sounded like I was at the game!) It is without a doubt, the speakers on this is better than the one is on the Toshiba.
Most people should be very satisfied with the video quality. Despite this being 7" larger than my Toshiba, I find it to be sharper; it doesn't look that bad up-close like it did with the Toshiba. The further away you are, the better it will look.
I have seen deeper colors from other TVs and I also feel the blacks were better on the Toshiba, being really picky, but overall, I'm still happy with the way it looks.
This TV definitely doesn't deserve anything below a 4 stars (unless you get a defected/broken unit). I give it a 4 or 4.5/5. Even though I'm a harsh rater and also very picky, at this price range, most people should be more than satisfied. I really do like this TV.
I have a more positive feeling towards the Vizio name brand now.
Recommended.
Pros:
+ 47" is a great size/quality for feeling the impact of a home theater

+ 120Hz "Smooth Technology" gives it a more life-like feel like you're looking through a window instead of a TV screen (it can also be turned off)
+ Great speakers (bass is never that impressive with built-in speakers, but the surround sound range is nice on these)

+ Easy to set-up; the base is already mounted

Cons:
- Can't turn off the "Vizio" brand name logo front bezel glow light (why couldn't they add an option to disable this light? The Toshiba has an option to do so! When the TV is off, it will glow orange; when on, it will glow white)
- Very basic remote options
- Menu option is a little cumbersome to work with

I agree with other reviews it's a bit soft for my taste but it works well in the room it's in. I'm not a gamer or a big sports fan so I haven't noticed any pixel lag. It does a very good job with HD content.
I wanted a monitor not an Internet appliance because I expected it to last many years. It's hooked to an LG Blue Ray which is Internet capable and a TiVo.
It was delivered in July and on Oct 2 it refuses to power up. LG customer service was helpful on the phone but of course no service on the weekend as a matter of fact you can't even schedule service on the weekend. And parts and labor warranty (2 years) does not include the $75 charge for "diagnosing the problem".
I gave it 3 stars because a single failure on an electronic device is not a big deal. I hope that after this repair it's reliable. If not I'll report back. I'm also curious how many other owners are experiencing issues like this. I expect reliability from $1,000 products.
Well 6 days later, it's fixed. The local repair people (Videosonics Lab in Torrance - [...]) were great. No charge, despite what the LG service people said. They also said they have a lot of business repairing LG TVs, they said Sony, Samsung and Sharp are much more reliable.
My next TV probably won't be an LG.

(More customer reviews)Picture quality is good, although I had to mess with the color settings a lot (I'm still not sure I've got it 100% correct). There is some slight discoloration around the edges, but this is only noticeable when the TV is displaying one solid color.
I can't stand to have the smoothing option (called TruMotion) turned on. It's supposed to make TV look better, but I think it makes everything look like a soap opera. Luckily, it's easy to turn off (Menu>Picture>TruMotion). Note: you'll have to turn off TruMotion for each individual input. TV will look a little juddery without the smoothing, but it's a limitation of all 120Hz TVs, and it's a whole lot better than having TruMotion turned on (in my opinion).
That said, movies and video games look fantastic with the smoothing turned off. My Xbox 360 and PS3 games look great, as do Blu-ray movies.
I maxed out the 3 HDMI ports pretty quickly (Xbox 360, PS3, DVR), but I figure if I need another one, it'd probably be time to get a receiver anyway. It should be noted that there is only one set of component inputs.
Speakers are fine, nothing to write home about but they get the job done.
Remote requires you to point at a pretty specific spot (the lower-right corner of the TV). Kind of annoying, but I got used to it (I sit about 10 feet away).
The swiveling stand is nice (I turn it to face the kitchen when I'm making dinner), but it only turns about 20 degrees.
Overall, I'm very happy with what I got for the price I paid!

Good: The picture is very good, comparable to much more expensive sets, in both standard and high definition. The 120Hz refresh does make a difference, although if, like me, you're accustomed to the slight jitter of high-speed motion on a 60Hz set the smooth motion will seem a little unnatural at first!
It has a good selection of input ports. No real internet connectivity, but I figure that functionality will be obsolete in a couple of year anyway, so it makes more sense for that to be built into a dedicated component or blue-ray player or something similar in any event.Bad: Power cord is hardwired into the back of the set, rather than being detachable - that was a real nuisance when I was trying to run the cables. More importantly, the internal speakers are pretty poor. Compounding this problem, it has neither analog audio out nor a headphone jack! If your external speaker system/receiver takes digital optical SPDIF ("Toslink"?) connections (most recent ones do), you're good - otherwise you'll need an adapter (Somthing like this: Digital Audio To Analog Audio Converter, although mine is still on order so I can't vouch for it yet.)
Still, if you want really good sound, no flat-panel will deliver that, and you could add a $200 soundbar to this to get a system that will have as good a picture and much better sound than more expensive sets. If you already have a good sound system (especially one with optical inputs), this is a very good option for the money.

You do your research the best you can and hope that your purchase will be everything you hoped it would be. Occasionally, you are thrown for a loop and presented with some challenges that you didn't anticipate. That's what happened to me when I picked up this excellent TV. My old Sony LCD did not have HDMI ports, so I was relegated to the spaghetti bowl of component hookups to achieve high definition. I just had to have a TV with HDMI, so when I was finally in the market I knew it would have to be at least 46", LCD or something comparable, full 1080p, and have plenty of HDMI ports on it. With the exception of one small issue, this TV is everything I wanted.
I must say that the Samsung UN46C6500 LED TV is astonishing to look at. The colors are rich and saturated, black levels are the blackest I've ever seen, and the images are crisp and clear. The screen is a glossy finish, so it does reflect any light you might have in the room, but it's not overly distracting. The panel itself is super thin, only about one inch thick. The stand is very sturdy. Touch sensitive buttons line the lower right hand corner of the panel (kind of hard to see, but they're responsive). The bezel has a brushed matte charcoal grey strip covering a transparent acrylic (very elegant).
The one problem I have with this TV is not listed anywhere except inside the manual. I didn't see any other documentation or warnings about this, so I was a little disappointed when I encountered it. This TV is not compatible with HDMI versions older than 1.3. My old Onkyo receiver (TX-SR604) came with HDMI 1.1, so the TV would not display images through it. I had always thought that HDMI was backwards compatible. It's not on this TV, and the manual clearly says that if you have any components with HDMI versions older than 1.3 you may have issues with sound and video. Beware.
Because I was so disappointed that I would not be able to use HDMI through my receiver, I decided to upgrade to the Denon AVR-791 (which supports HDMI 1.4 and is 3D ready). Even though I'm another $500 poorer, I'm an extremely happy camper. Watching Avatar on blu-ray with this setup is truly amazing. The TV performs wonderfully and is otherwise exactly what I was wanting. I have not ventured into the internet TV features, but that's on the horizon. Unfortunately, the TV is not wifi compatible (unless you buy a USB adapter), so you'll need to use an ethernet cable (I actually knew this before buying).
Samsung makes incredible LCD and LED TV's. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high definition viewing experience. Hopefully, my review will educate and warn those with older components. HDMI is the way to go, but you can always fall back on component cables if you have to. That just wasn't an option for me. When all is said and done, I don't regret my purchase at all. The end result was well worth the journey.
