(More customer reviews)This is our fourth HD big screen. We have a Panny 37" circa 2005 and two new 2010 Sony 46" Bravia w motion control. We picked up this set for a second home in Florida.
Pros: Excellent picture at 480, 720, 1080 w Comcast. Lots of brightness in a sunny room. Although it has a gloss screen, reflections don't seem to be the problem I was expecting. Very thin profile. Simple menus and sets up easy. Three HDMI inputs are a plus. Swivel is nice. TV allows viewing from very steep side angles, best of all our sets. The blacks are VERY black, also the best of all our sets. The price is AMAZING at Costco! Audio is great for me at 10 feet and I have hearing issues.
Cons: Haven't found any yet although I have not used it for on line games, a game box, bluray or SD card. My standard DVD movie looked great.
I am sitting here watching college football in HD. There are no compression problems. The ball spirals are perfect and the receiver routes in slow mo and full speed are clear wo rasterization problems. My 2005 Panny stinks at this so I do know what really bad technology and pictures are like.
CATS is the auto brightness control that you can set in the picture menu. It works great if you adjust the brightness and color settings in a darker room first. Then during brighter daytime settings the picture will be great. The other way will leave you disappointed or frustrated but there is no need to turn CATS off.
Another nice feature is the auto selection of the picture mode and screen fill. Works great for us. If there was a way to grade this a five star ++, we would. A great value buy!!

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV at Costco this past weekend, I searched online for reviews before buying the Vizio M420VT model but there was not many reviews on this TV. I took a chance and took one home. So far the TV is working out great. Enjoy the LED edge backlighting technology because it creates a very sharp contrast. I did notice there is a slight lean with the screen towards the floor, so I took the stand off (metal bracket) and added some felt to the front part where the screen goes.
Overall the TV looks good with crisp images.

Toshiba REGZA 46RF350U Super Narrow 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I've watched this Toshiba thin bezel for over a month now and can now feel qualified to post this review. I orginally had my eye on a SONY KDL-46XBR4 with it's attractive glass bezel, but the price stopped me. The better idea was to have no bezel and all picture. I compared this picture with the Sony, as well as, my last year's model Toshiba 42" plasma and this 46" LCD is great.
The picture is so sharp that individual hairs on the Celtic Women DVD through my OPPO's 1080p playback are easily recognizable. The hues shadow casted by blue backlighting from the Shane Castle walls is finally significantly noticable. Lisa's very very light blue top on her gown is clearly identifiable from her pure white lower half of her dress. This was never very distiguishable on any other television before. Plaid lines on coats with the tightest weaves can be seen on Lester Holt's NBC Today Show wardrobe. You can even attribute the out of focus side images on the screen to the actual focal length limitation of the studio cameras instead of your TV's reproductions when they do tight-ins with food on embroidered tablecloths. Now, even Jay Leno's makeup can't hide all his blemishes and you can even identify all the birthmarks on his guests during their close-ups on their interviews. You start to really notice these things when you get a great HDTV and don't get distracted by the picture frame bezel and screen reflections. Lastly, the sports coverage in HD is so clear, it's like looking through a pair binoculars from my season ticket holder's lower level seats at FedEx Field, without the noisy and obnoxious fans in the front seats standing up in front of me at the wrong times.
See the Toshiba Regza website to understand how they treat their picture to get such realism. At the latest commodity prices, you shouldn't be without this model of HDTV. It's much lighter than a plasma and was easy to wall mount, too.

For HD inputs, I'm using an Toshiba HD-A35 1080p HD DVD Player, a Panasonic HDC-SD5 Hi-Definition Palmcorder Camcorder BUNDLE, as well as an HTPC driving the TV at full resolution 1920x1080x60. Videos, HD DVD's, normal DVD's, PC games, web browsing, digital photo slideshows: all look completely stunning.
In addition to showing beautiful video, the physical design of the display is also excellent. The matte screen surface does not cause distracting reflections from lights in the room, and the very thin bezel makes for a very tasteful frame and allows the TV to fit in the middle of a wall where any other 40" display would be too big. One thing that really bothers me about other HDTV's is how much space is made for built-in speakers. This is part of a home theater, and I've got a 7.1 speaker system. I don't need cheap speakers on the TV and I definitely don't want to be reminded of them every time I look at the TV. This display does have some speakers, and they sound okay (as good as two closely spaced 10W speakers can sound, I suppose). As you can see from the images, the speakers are out of sight. Perfect for my needs, they're behind the screen on the bottom left and right, so they don't mess up the look of the unit. Overall, very appealing.
I expected that since the display is optimized as a TV, it wouldn't be that great as a computer display (computer LCD's normally have more of a screen door effect than LCD TV's so that the pixel boundaries are more square and precise when displaying text and other fine pitch imagery). I was wrong. It makes for a fantastic computer monitor that I can comfortably use for web browsing or gaming from about 6-8 feet. Games look wonderful, Netflix media player looks beautiful, it's all good.
Because I'm also using a Toshiba HD DVD player, they can talk to each other over HDMI (Toshiba calls it CE-Link). While this seems like a good idea, in reality, it's utterly and completely useless and is more of an annoyance than anything else. The only thing that seems to work about it is that if I turn the TV off, the next device in the HDMI network will shut off too. Absolutely nothing else happens. As a result, I've disabled it. I advise you to get a universal remote and program a few macros so that things turn on and off together.
I've mounted the TV on a Sanus VMAA18 Articulating Mount for 30"-50" Flat Panel TVs - Black which is a little overbuilt for this TV, but I wanted it to be *really* secure. Cable routing is also a little difficult since the mount structure interferes with easy access to most of the input ports. You can still get to the inputs, but small hands help quite a bit. Not a deal-breaker, and certainly not the fault of the TV, just an annoyance to be aware of.

(More customer reviews)First off, I should note that CNET is way too critical with their reviews and I'm so glad I went to look at this tv at bestbuy instead of just trusting their review. I don't think you could find a better tv for only 1140.00
To begin, the off angle is just fine and unless you have a living room wider than 15" and viewing from only 6" back, you'll be fine.
The remote that comes with the tv is so wonderfully simple that I'd trust my mother to use it. 2 simple buttons sum up this ease of use (input, and avmode). The buttons are not only labled well, but the resulting popups make it very clear what you're doing.
Hooking up the tv was incredible. The inputs are very easy to reach without moving the tv sideways. Aside from that, the available side inputs are also easy to plug in.
One feature I wish the tv had was avi/mp4 playback. Though it has usb functionality, the tv is only capable of loading images and (music? cant recall)
--- This should not deter you since the super low price makes buying a Play Station 3 with this TV a great option and one that I chose to do, especially since adding the PS3 means you can play video from usb, get wireless onto the tv, and stream shared files from your computer, in all, a major win, especially since the two combined keeps the price under the midrange samsung w/ internet plus you get the added blueray and upscaling bonus.
As far as picture quality goes, I have had the chance to watch HDTV, DVD, BLURAY, and PS3 games at 720 and 1080. The results of this viewing made me feel very good about my purchase. Though I'm sure the PS3's ability to upscale played a part in DVD looking superb, I have to say that Tony Soprano looked like he was in the livingroom. I also watched Princess Mononoke which has a lot of fog/type scenes (lots of greys swirling) and to my pleasant surprise, no noise, artifacting, nothing. I got off the couch and stood 4 inches from the TV and couldn't believe the picture was that good for only 1100.
Gaming is excellent. I really like the game mode (and I do recommend pressing the AV-Mode button and utilizing the feature). I tried out MGS4, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank, and Lego Starwars. The colors though not as vibrant as perhaps the 2700 dollar samsung, were none the less incredible and vibrant.
The sound on the tv is great and LOUD. I keep it at 14-20 (the tv goes up to 100)!!
Even still, I decided to take advantage of my surround sound, and purchased a 4.50 optical audio cable off Amazon to hook up my stereo.
Some other thoughts:
The tv is crazy light, I set it up myself (it really is only 37 lbs) so if you can pick up a 2yr old, you can pick this thing up.
The tv has a nice cable management feature, but I don't use it since I only have 3 cords going into my tv (HDMI from cable box, HDMI from PS3, Optical audio out to surround sound), ya, it's that awesome.
In short, buy the tv. You really can't go wrong.

(More customer reviews)I bought the Sony KDL-40v4150 around 10/01/08 for around $950.00 which was part of a package deal (TV, Blue ray DVD, and theater system). The whole package cost about $1399.
To setup the TV was simple. I bought the HDMI cables for under $5.00 (6 foot) from [...].
The picture is excellent and the sound is good (without the theater system). All LCD TV's have only two small speakers so do not expect too much from them. However, if you connect the LCD TV to a sound system- WOW. The sound is GREAT!
I bought the package from PC Richards. They wanted me to buy the HDMI cables for $79- ya right. Do not be fooled by the sale pitch that all stores will give you. Buy the HDMI cables from [...].

Also- to set up the Sony LCD TV with all of the listed (TV, Blue ray DVD, and theater system) will take a little more time. However, the directions are clear and easy to read.
Lastly- the Sony KDL-40v4150 is a new model but is the same as the KDL-40v4100. I do not think there are many differences but the KDL-40v4150 has a 18 month war. the KDL-40v4100 has 12 months.
Overall- you get what you pay for. I have had Sony products before and never had any problems. This LCD TV looks to have a solid built but is light enough to move around.
Again- the picture quality is really nice and even better with HD channels and really great with the Blue ray DVD player.

(More customer reviews)I recently bought this tv acouple days ago. I had been wanting a plasma screen television for quite some time, and when I seen the price of this for alittle bit under $2,000 in a local advertisement I had to take a look at it.
When I went there I was quite impressed with it, visually it looked great, the design of the case and the picture quality itself. I asked the sales person alot of question but he didn't really know too much about it so it made me question the integrity of SVA, a brand which I had never heard of at the time.
I went online to try and find some reviews and information about it, but could only find these same reviews below on abunch of other websites, which didn't really help at all since you have 2 people saying they like it, and 1 person that posted twice about how it sucks and not explaining a reason why. After abit more research I read that the picture tube is made from a Samsung picture tube. I heard of this before where other companies like Dell import pieces of plasma screen tvs and construct them in one of their factories to keep the price down.
After visiting the store again, this time with my brother to decide on final purchase, me and him went over all of their plasma tvs and gave them our own bare eye inspection. Both of us thought that the SVA had a great picture quality compared to all of the other plasma screen tvs they had on display, and in alot of cases it looked even better than alot of the tvs on display.
When I bought it, the only thing that was bad was the stand was broken on it (which we recieved another stand) and for being a plasma screen tv and how thin it is, it is very heavy. The other thing is that it has no controls on the tv itself, there is no volume, channel, video select or even a television power on! (Although there is a main power turn on/off) So if your remote control breaks (and you don't have a universal remote programmed for it) it sounds like you'll have to order a new remote.
I read from a different review that someone was having problems with the remote control and that it had a "mind of its own". I haven't came across this problem at all, either that person had a faulty remote control, or was talking nonsense.
But still, like I mentioned before, I have recently bought this plasma tv, I haven't had any problems with it yet, and I had been looking up information about preventing burn-ins since I hear it plagues plasma tv's and I play alot of video games and intend to use it as a pc monitor as well.
Also another nice addition was that included ALL the hook ups you need. I am not sure about the exact amount of cords, but it include acouple of the same ones like 2 a/v cords, 2 normal left/right audio cords, 1 component, 1 s-video, 1 pc cord, 1 pc to component (which is really cool), 1 analog(?) cable, and 1 audio (you know like a head phone jack) to left/right audio cord. I thought that this was very cool since alot of tvs I had bought and other people bought didn't include, or only included maybe 1 or 2 cords.
I gave this a rating of 4 because like I said, I had just recently purchased this tv and still am testing it out. I wrote this review to help people get alittle bit more knowledge about this tv since I couldn't find much help about it online either. My biggest suggestion for anyone interested in this tv is to go to a store and take a look at it and compare it to other plasma tv's, make sure to check for burn ins and everything. When I was checking it out at the store they did not have the audio set up, only the picture cables were hooked up, when I got it home and tested out the audio, I was quite surprised at the quality of it since I heard alot of plasma screens with speakers didn't give good quality. But still I run all my audio through my reciever for surround sound, which the majority of people that purchase plasma tv's do as well, so you wont be worrying much about the audio on this... which I believe by looking at it, it has 4 sets of speakers, I could be wrong... but it did give off some nice sound for when I was testing it out.

Toshiba 40RV525U 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

We decided a while ago that we wanted to upgrade all tube TV's in our household with decent wall mounted HDTV's. So we started of researching and initially bought the Samsung LNT series. This HDTV @ 1080P had a great price point for the specifications listed (contrast, resolution, available ports).
The second brand we bought was the Sharp, more specific the aquos series. Again, very similar to the Samsung although a bit more pricy and not necessarily as nice looking.
We then ordered a Marantz from the Philips outlet and boy was that a pice of junk. Cheap but it had sever ghosting and was impossible to use. That one moved to the family room.
Finally we needed the 4th TV and wanted it for the kids' XBOX 360 and PS3 experience in their gameroom. When checking over Thanksgiving we wanted to get another Samsung as that was the best one in our experience but no good deals were out there and most that had them were out of stock on the reasonable deals.
So we ran into the Toshiba 40RV525U as the cheapest 1080P 40" HDTV with (supposedly) a fast screen rate for gaming.
About the 40RV525U
First of all this is NOT a REGZA from Toshiba, which is more high end than this item. However, this TV does look good with its black piano laquered front bezel (although it is not as shiny as the Samsungs but less wobbly in its reflection, so it is equal in aesthetics).
It comes with 3 HDMI ports. Very important for the furture as the switch boxes are trouble in our experience.
What we noticed MOST during the reasearch into this item is that Toshiba is not very forthcoming with specs other than Gamer Mode being great for next gen console requirements, 1080P and the number of HDMI ports. Even downloading the manual for spec sheets gives you nothing on contrast or the milliseconds is requires.
We took the gamble since the item was hundreds cheaper than the next best thing and are VERY happy with it. The contrast ratio is not as good as a Samsung since you need to put the contrast and brightness up a bit but there is no ghosting or fuzziness when playing XBOX or PS3. We have noticed the same issue another reviewer had: the XBOX does not produce sound when connected via HDMI but this is a known XBOX 360 NXE issue and not a Toshiba one. The component cable connection is great and the screen looks wonderfully crisp.
Another few comments: the side buttons are very plasticky but luckily hidden. The remote is simple and effective (not a button laden brick) and most of the interface is VERY simple to navigate through. Make sure you switch the gamer mode on as it is of by default. It does make a visible difference.

Wallmount screws are placed relatively far aparts so if you want to adjust screen horizontally you will need to buy a wide mount. Samsung has the mount holes really close together, as a contrast.

Samsung HLP5674W 56-Inch HD-Ready DLP Projection TV Review

(More customer reviews)I am not a very knowledgeable electronic buff - but have been fantasizing about buying a HDTV for a couple of years now.
Since the choices are so many, it was a fun job trying to find out about them - at the same time very confusing. Finally, I did decide on Samsung DLP - the only question was which model I should be going for :-)
The HLP 56" is just about right for my family room -- has a very good viewing angle, has no real issue with room brightness. The quality of standard TV via Satellite depends on the different channels. (I use component cable for Satellite and DVI cable for DVD) Some channels appear better than others. HD programs are fantastic. The default color settings were a bit to greenish for my liking. The TV is lighter compared to my standard 29" TV. The PIP feature is cool. The TV was almost "plug-and-play" - didnt need too much tinkering to get the basic features working (for normal non-electronic buffs who wonder if a HDTV has to be always set-up and tuned by a professional).
I also bought a Samsung Progressive Scan HD 841 DVD player -- a good combo with this TV. (And the good thing is that this comes with the DVI cable in the package)
Some Cons I noticed:
# The remote lacks a backlight feature - since I like watching my DVDs by darkening the room - its frustrating to grope around the buttons.
# There seems to be some humming noice - like a fan rotating when the TV is on mute (or volume very low) - not too noticeable - but present all the same.
# The feature wherein you can change the source or the TV display size make you cycle though ALL the possible choices instead of poviding a "drop-down" ike UI to choose the one you are looking for directly - this becomes fustrating if you are the type who constantly change you TV display and source (between Satellite, Antenna, DVD etc.)
# Very little to no documentation on fine tuning the system available .. what exists is definelty enough to get a nice viewing experience - but if u want more fine grained control - dont bother reading the documentation to find out how.
But all-in-all its a great TV and I hope to enjoy it for a long time !!

O.K There is good as well as bad and it certainly isn't all bad, but don't be fooled by some of the over zealous reviews on here about this product. It looks great in the stores but might not do as well in the realities of your home. Please read on.
The Good!
The panel looks great cosmetically, its slim, the boarder is there (its just that it doesn't protrude from the screen like most its contained within the glass panel it self. The price is competitive.
Picture clarity under ideal viewing conditions is impeccable. 1080P and 1080I modes ee this TV perform at its best. Connected to a Blu-ray player playing 1080P, with the all the blinds closed is top notch!!
The Not so Good.
The screen has some serious glare issues (as it's a glass screen) If you have this screen anywhere near a window(s) especially behind you the viewer, it's really difficult to get your eyes to focus out the images reflected from behind you. My much older Westinghouse LCD has an anti-glare screen and copes much better than the LG does in usual viewing situations like this. The 120 Hz True-motion setting just doesn't work and causes some serious pixel issues. This effect can be seen clearly around people on screen. The Panel works O.K when this feature is turned off. Calibration and cinema mode settings seem to work just fine.
Low resolution viewing (lower than 720P) is not that great and again is out performed, in my personal opinion, by my much older Westinghouse TV)
I have found some strange issues watching recorded programs on my DVR such as "Flash Forward" the other night which had a great deal of dark scenes. It seemed almost like I was watching in Low resolution, the picture quality was not at all good. However watching the latest Star Trek on Blu-ray is just outstanding - so I don't know if this is an issue with resolution, black levels or 1080I versus 1080P settings.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a LED panel and have ideal viewing conditions and your primary input is going to be HD sources especially DVD's on Blu-ray, then this is the TV for you. If you are going to be watching multiple TV programs in more realistic household settings you may want to look at other options with screens that are less glossy.

I had another LCD Sharp for four years before this one. That one has survived two cross-country moves and the pixels are still perfect. My feeling is that Sharp's panels tend to have fewer dead pixels than their competition. Also, there are many fewer complaints about the sets suddenly not turning on after two months (in stark contrast to Samsung). So I regard Sharp as a high-quality but relatively cheap LCD TV maker.
Picture
The picture quality is fine (I'm not a videophile) and HDTV really is lovely. Imagine being able to see the food served on the Food network... to say nothing of a football or golf ball. I like the 120MHz motion de-juddering, but I have it turned to low rather than high. It really is quite unnatural in the high setting - everything looks like an episode of the Teletubbies. Maybe I'll get used to it. The "OPC" thing is annoying, but you can turn it off and/or stop the little leaves from appearing every thirty seconds. I think it has something to do with dynamic contrast, which takes the ambient light in the room into account, but I can't be sure. Suffice it to say, the picture is pretty good.
Sound
Also fine - how loud do you want it? Actually, the bass is a little overdone, but I've hooked up a soundbar and everything sounds great now. Nicely enough, this set acts a bit like a receiver: all my audio signals get channelled into the TV through HDMI connections and then I use a digital audio output to send it to my soundbar. I don't need multiple wires to connect my soundbar. I thought that was a nice feature.
Set-up
Easy. Clear manual. Good menus. Functional remote control (which also operates my other Sharp TV and looks almost identical!).
Why buy?
The styling is fine. It's not as thin as the latest Samsungs but it's only 40 lb (that's considerably lighter than last year's D85U, which this replaces) and the design works well.
It's energy efficient. Again, only the much more expensive Samsung LED-based LCDs are better, but they don't have even lighting across the whole screen. Oh, there's a Philips Eco-TV, too, but I never saw that in the shops.
It's high quality and does the job. Basically, it's a brand name product with the latest technology at a no-name price.
Why only 4 stars?
I wanted an LED set! No, seriously, this is a great TV with plenty of inputs (9 by my count, of which 5 are HDMI) and it's energy efficient and light enough to transport or wall-mount. It's not the lightest or the brightest or the loudest or the fastest, nor is it the cheapest, but it's a good compromise on all those things.

I bought a 62inch HDTV two years ago, picked up a SquareTrade Extended Warranty on the HDTV. Worked fine until a week prior to my SquareTrade Warranty was expiring-I know, I was frantic.
Called SquareTrade, they processed a claim and dispatched a Technician to discussed the issue and inspect for repair within three days. On the fourth day the Technician submitted his affidavit concerning the problem with the HDTV. The next day I was contacted by a SquareTrade Representative and they refunded my "entire" purchase price for me to either buy a new item, or use the funds to have it repaired. My refund was processed and credited that evening and available to use the same day.
All within a week my HDTV died and I received a full purchase price refund and credited immediately to use and a few days prior to my Warranty expiring. That is unheard of these days, in addition to the excellent, professional, and courteous Customer Service. I will buy a new HDTV and add an extended warranty with SquareTrade.

Sharp Aquos LC46D64U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

I had a Sharp LC42D62U and then upgraded to the LC46D64U recently; the original LCD was great but there are several improvements made to the new 64 series. The 64 series LCD's are incredibly slim and have a smaller bezel. They really look awesome wall-mounted due to the small profile. No other LCD is currently available that is this slim and has this picture quality. The 64 series TV's also add several tone and picture corrections, an analog PC input, a USB 2.0 port for firmware upgrades, an RS-232 control port and three HDMI 1.3 inputs. The picture quality actually seems to be slightly better which is amazing because the 62 series looked fantastic (specifications indicate a better backlight system).
I am a professional AV systems design engineer and part of my job is to keep up on new TVs. This unit is currently the best we've seen for a consumer model and we specify it all the time. I highly recommend this unit or any of the 64 series.

(More customer reviews)This TV has an amazingly beautiful picture, with deep darks and bright colors, and good saturation even in soft, light colors that might get washed out on other TVs. Scenic panoramas are so realistic! One reviewer said they thought the picture was too dark overall, but I can't understand why, unless it's being watched in a very bright room. My experience is that we had to turn the LED backlight down a lot to make it dim enough and save our retinas. We're very impressed with the picture quality and the sound is even impressive for a TV, but we still hooked it up to the stereo system, because of course that's better. But we were impressed with the audio quality as far as TV speakers go.
There was an issue with 1 of the 4 HDMI ports not working, however LG said for any TV over 30", they will send a technician to your home to repair any issue not caused by customer abuse, and this would be covered, but since we only really need 2 inputs, it's a tolerable defect. One other small complaint is that the HDMI ports have a loose fit, however, in three weeks, we only had to tighten once and they're holding steady. The ports are just around behind the screen, easily accessible without going behind the TV, so it's no problem. These issues are minor, and I would still choose this TV over others for it's great picture quality! I'm very happy we bought it, and at such a great price. And for LG's fabulous customer support, 5 stars.
The seller was great (Video & Audio Center) and shipped it same day for free. It arrived in just a couple days.

This TV as indeed at "best buy" from a leading consumer magazine. I never considered a JVC
before. My brands were Samsung and Sony. But, after buying this JVC, I have become a big JVC fann.
Everyone who as seen this TV is amazed by the rich colors and excellent resolution.
We use a DirecTV HD box as a source as well as a Panasonic blue-ray player. Both give
perfect colors.
My next project will be to hook this TV up to a Fit-PC2 to create my own, very inexpensive
entertainment center able to play any movie any time.
I do not know what the one negative reviewer was complaining about. You can pay 2x for comparable
TV from Sony or Samsung.
I can't say enough good things about this TV. If you buy it, I am sure you will be happy with it.The only negative is that the styling is "unique" and takes a bit getting used to. The blue
light accents are a bit weird but, when you match it up with the blue lights on the DirectTV HD
DVR then it actually looks spectacular.

Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-L32S1 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)Bottom line, this TV is currently ranked the 3rd best 32inch TV according to consumer reports, only behind the much more costly Samsungs, but ahead of the more costly Sonys. Tier one brand, great price, buy with confidence.
My TV situation: stood in the corner of formal living room, designed not to dominate room, used a few hours a day.
My TV viewing: general TV, casual films (no gaming or surround sound serious cinema).
My TV source: digital antenna/OTA/ATSC (no cable or sat) via Tivo HD, plus Netflix and Amazon video on demand.
I was shopping to replace my old 27inch CRT TV and a 32inch LCD is a perfect size for that. There is a bewildering choice out there. In a big box store I honestly could not tell the difference between the many manufacturers. Reading user reviews on line was ultimately a waste of time as someone always has a complaint or some unique need or set up.
I made my choice for this TV because of 1) the excellent professional reviews by consumer reports 2) brand quality reputation, 3) great amazon price, 4) clean case design 5) good number of inputs.
The picture by the way is excellent without modifications, bright, clear, viewing angle is not an issue.
Considerations: I technically probably didn't need a 1080p TV, 720p would have been fine as most TV signals are that, and I would not see the benefit at my viewing distance at 10+ ft, but this TV gives me flexibility to use with higher quality sources like HD downloads, gaming consoles or as a PC monitor in future. This 1080p model was also not much more expensive than a 720p model.
I wasn't sold on on the added cost for 120Hz for my needs: 120Hz does not seem to matter for TV signals, only 24fps movies, and if you're into serious cinema you're probably not looking at 32inch :-)
Sound on this TV, like most 32inch TVs, is from 2x10w speakers, and is absolutely fine for a living room and casual viewing, I have not had to go above 50/100 on the volume level.
