item was exactly as described, shipping was timely. this monitor makes all my pictures look wonderful. I love it!!
My only regret is that it did not come with instructions for settings. There are still some kinks to work out but, they may be limitations imposed by my computer.

Samsung SyncMaster 216BW 21.6-inch LCD Monitor Review

Samsung SyncMaster 216BW 21.6-inch LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A lot of desktop real estate at an incredibly affordable price and it looks classy too.
This is not a technical review of the product (incidentally there is very little of it at present on the internet) but wanted to share some thoughts.
I am sure like many who are considering an upgrade to their current monitor(s) will quickly find that the 22" LCD widescreen product class currently represents the best value for money. Going to a 24"+ the prices double and the smaller 19 or 20" seem to be around the same price point. Simply from that it is a no brainer that my options will be in this range. On that basis I have been researching various 22" monitors for a couple of months. I initially narrowed it down to the Acer AL2223WD (since I have an Acer already and has been completely reliable). In doing more research the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW came on top for 2 reasons. There appears to be a general consensus that the Samsung monitors are well regarded and secondly I preferred the styling of the monitor, although it came at a 25% premium over the Acer. So I have been in a holding pattern for the past couple of months to see if there would be significant movement (down) in price until I spotted the Samsung SyncMaster 216BW (released in early June 2007). At the same price point as the Acer, and only 0.4" (1 cm) smaller than the 226BW whilst still the same resolution of 1680 x 1050 the choice became clear. So I took the plunge.
As background, I was upgrading from a 17" widescreen ACER LCD (2003) and an aging SONY 15" LCD (2001), powered by a Radeon 9550. For most part the monitors were used for office work, internet browsing and watching movies. I am not a gamer so the emphasis on the response time wasn't a real concern for me. I unpacked and installed the monitor with relative ease. It really does dwarf my old monitors. I can now easily fit 2 Letter or A4 documents (full size) side by side. The monitor stand that comes with it doesn't look particularly flexible, thought I don't really have a view as I have attached the monitor to my Ergotron LX Desk Arm.
It comes with a thin manual, CD, analogue cable, DVI cable and a power cord. The power cord plugs straight into the monitor as oppose to an external box. Power input range from 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 1.0A.
When I first powered it on it was incredibly bright (Brightness on full setting of 100). With the MagicBright options I quickly changed it to the "Internet" setting which made it much easier on the eyes. There are no "dead pixels" from what I can tell which is a great relief (an irrational fear of mine with buying LCDs).
Some other points you may want to note when you do your own research.
- The 5ms response time is a Grey to Grey rating rather than a Black to Black. The 226BW quote a 2ms G-to-G.
- Also appears under the model number of SyncMaster 223BW as far as I can tell (see the Samsumg User Guide download)
- It is just a classy monitor without the other frills like speakers or USB ports
- An additional remark regarding viewing angles (having used it for a few weeks now). The Horizontal (left right) viewing angles is nothing to write home about but is completely acceptable for a computer monitor. However the Vertical (up down) viewing angle is quite poor. Not normally an issue unless you plan to use the monitor in PORTRAIT mode (i.e. rotated by 90 degrees.) If you do so then plan to use the screen dead on, otherwise its not particularly good.
Overall I am very satisfied with the monitor and hope to get many years to viewing pleasure. No issues with recommending it to anyone else who is considering one.
Update: Having used it daily for a month now, still maintain my recommendations above.
Update (Sept 07): In regards to the DVI vs Analogue cable question. Technically the DVI connection should be better, and maybe psychologically as well. Personally I have two side by side (one with DVI, other Analogue cable) which I use every day and frankly I cannot see the difference at all on every day use applications.

Ok let me first say that I was looking for any review a user would have on this monitor.
I searched for hours w/ reviews but never owners until I found 3 reviews on Egghead that's it.
I wondered why not any owner reviews? I still don't know.
Here's what I know so far I have used this monitor for 2 days with great results.
I just went into the menu and set it to MEMORY RECALL (1# is Exit)(#2 is Select) low and behold the whites looked whiter and the dark's were
dark. The back-lit L.E.D. seems to make images sharper then my cold cathode florescent lights (old technology)do.
Good:
The colors and lighting are fine , No Heat from this screen, and it has a sharp image, also easier on the eyes.
This monitor saves you money because the VX2450WM 24" only uses about 28-30Watts. My older 24"Gateway uses 125Watts.
This monitor DOES have vesa screw holes in back for mounting an monitor arm -
Bad:
This monitor is very light(8)lbs so the plastic base makes the monitor jiggle when typing, that's it.
Lastly just see if you can find many LED monitors that still have Vesa mounts screw holes in back apparently many don't.
The Ergotron LX is my choice http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-Desk-Mount-LCD-45-241-026/dp/B00358RIRC/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1284522367&sr=8-3-fkmr1 has many high reviews plus I watched some you-tube movies of the monitor arm in action it's an extra I know $119.xx for but worth it I hope for the freedom it gives you.

ASUS ML238H 23-Inch Wide Ultra-Slim LED Monitor (Black/White) Review

ASUS ML238H 23-Inch Wide Ultra-Slim LED Monitor (Black/White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this monitor to replace an aging 20+ year old 18" Sony CRT monitor that was still going strong (anyone want a great deal on a Sony monitor?). This LED monitor fit the bill and it is light years ahead on the stand compared to the MS238h that my son bought just a few weeks ago. The stand on the MS238H monitor is the only thing people complained about on the reviews and Asus must have listened and fixed it. This new stand (ML238H) is well built and doesn't even require a screw driver! I had this monitor up and running in less than 10 minutes. This monitor is amazing as the specs indicate and I couldn't be happier. 10,000,000/1 ratio dynamic ratio with a 2ms response timing you cannot beat for this for the price and the only spec I was concerned about was the brightness spec of 250 cd/m2 as the Samsung monitors are 300 cd/m2. I am happy to report that at 76% brightness setting I don't need all that extra brightness the more expensive Samsung monitors can produce. Some significant differences between this monitor (ML238H) and the MS238H that my son just bought a couple of weeks ago are:
1) The warranty on the ML238H is 3 years parts & labor whereas the MS238H monitor is only 2 years.
2) The color on back of this monitor is a very pretty piano white (easier to plug in power cord, HDMI, RGB, etc.) whereas the back of the MS238H is black and thus hardier to see where to plug in.
3) The new and improved stand on this monitor is swivel and tilt instead of just tilt with the ring stand on the MS238H monitor. This is called, Ergo-Fit II Technology, and is due to the unique ring stand design which allows for easy tilt or swivel adjustments with one finger. This new and improved stand is sturdy, beautiful, and solves all the complaints of the MS model. I needed the monitor to be above the table top to give me more room for the cords connected to my laptop.
4) The ML238H has what is called Smart View Technology and the MS238h does not. When you would like to watch movies upward lying down, Smart View Technology can adjust color parameters to deliver the same image quality and colors with straight viewing. I tested this feature and it really works as it looked clear looking up to the screen but when I looked straight on it looked blurred.
5) The ML238h has 6 Splendid preset video modes whereas the MS238H has ONLY 5 video preset modes, however, the MS238H has 5 color temperature modes and the ML238H has ONLY 4 color temperature modes.
The only con is the touch sensitive buttons that take some getting used to at first but I seem to be much better at using them now on the 2nd day. If you buy this monitor you won't regret it.
I decided against getting the 24" ASUS MS246H Ultra-Slim 23.6-Inch Wide LCD Monitor -Black/White, $[...] on amazon, that has an Asus monitor $[...] mail in rebate this month (8/2010) which makes it $35 cheaper with a bigger 24" screen than this monitor because of:
1) the crummy ring stand it has which is tilt only,
2) the energy savings-it is NOT a LED monitor,
3) and the contrast ratio is only 50,000:1 as opposed the the 10,000,000:1 on the ML238H monitor.
UPDATE 9/7/2010
Some people have complained about the ML238H factory preset mode looking strange or washed out and there is some truth to that. I would also guess the same would be true of the MS238h model too. I corrected that problem by making a few adjustment from the factory preset mode. Those adjustments were to change the mode to theater mode and then fine tune the brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc. to my preferences and that solved the problem for me.

SAMSUNG P2370 23-Inch LCD Monitor Review

UPDATED: June 20, 2009
I have to admit, I was a bit concerned about purchasing this online, virtually sight unseen. I went to Best Buy and saw the 20" version of this display and wasn't overly pleased, but then realized that the demo Best Buy had running on the monitor was not in the model's native resolution. So I came home and after a couple of days of deliberation with myself I took the plunge and bought this from Amazon. The display is a cinch to assemble. I've read some reviews where people have had great difficulty putting the stand together then attaching the stand to the monitor itself. This simply is not the case. Everything is keyed (all you have to do is pay attention to the carved out notches) and slid together very easily, no difficulty at all. "Professional" reviews have indicated that the monitor is very wobbly. This is the case to an extent, but it takes a fair jolt to get this monitor to tip. In all practicality who is going to be hitting the monitor with their hand anyway trying to get it to tip over. Perhaps a good earthquake, a running child or clumsy oaf is needed.
Buyers will definitely want to take some time to calibrate the monitor. I am currently running Windows 7 RC1 so some calibration tools are included that don't come in previous versions of Windows (including Vista, that I have found anyway). A Google search for "monitor calibration" will help aid in this process. "Professional" reviews have indicated that gray colors are not represented correctly, taking on a "yellowish hue." Out of the box using default settings this seemed to be the case (you'll see what I mean if you open a picture using Windows Photo Viewer, maximize the window and notice the color of the border surrounding the image), and using the monitor color profile that ships with the LCD (which Adobe Photoshop CS3 reports as being corrupted), but after customizing the monitor settings and getting a new color profile generated by Windows 7, this color turned from the "yellowish" hue to a light blue color as was displayed by my previous LCD (this of course is based on my current color scheme found in Windows 7).
Games play flawlessly, with good color, picture quality and vibrancy. No bleeding or blur with this 2ms response time display. The monitor includes presets for gaming, but if you calibrate the monitor properly this seems to be unneeded. Your mileage may vary depending on personal preference, but using in-game settings with brightness, contrast etc. can help get the job done. Games I tested in 1920x1080 were Crysis, the Half-Life 2 series, Far Cry 2, Unreal Tournament III, Stalker: Clear Sky, Street Fighter IV Benchmark (now available for download) and Bejeweled Twist. All played perfectly, again no blur or bleeding. I tested out a HD copy of "The Dark Knight" with no issues, perfect clarity in all respects. Some complaints (again from "professional" reviews) state that there is some white light bleed-through at the top edge of the screen on dark pictures. I found this to be very minor and not distracting at all. My desktop wallpaper images are native to 1920x1080 which is crisp and clear, so you'll probably want to find some HD or widescreen wallpapers for your viewing pleasure.
Settings for the monitor I have found to be optimal (at least for myself) are as follows:
Picture, Brightness: 50
Picture, Contrast: 76
Picture, Sharpness: 68
MagicBright: Custom
Response Time: Normal
Color, MagiColor: Off
Red: 50
Green: 50
Blue: 50:
Color Tone: Custom
Color Effect: Off
Gamma: Mode1
It may also be advantageous to use the ClearType technology built into Windows (MacOS probably has something similar), again personal preference so your mileage may vary. Windows 7 is a bit more extensive in customizing ClearType than prevoius versions of Windows.
I am very pleased with this monitor and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality display at a reasonable price.

Samsung B2430HD 24-Inch WideScreen LCD Monitor Review

Samsung B2430HD 24-Inch WideScreen LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The specs, price, and graphics quality in particular are excellent for this model.
But there are some serious disadvantages, exacerbated by Samsung's lack of support and unusually hostile response to those who are complaining about it.
The driver disk that comes with this product doesn't load in Windows 7 64-bit, which is now the standard for newer computers. You can find drivers that work, but not easily from the official Samsung site. There are actually two drivers, one for VGA and one for HDMI connections. In VGA mode, the monitor's native resolution of 1920x1080 is not supported; it deforms horizontally and clips off 3/4" on either side of the screen, thus converting squares into rectangles and circles into ovals, a fact that even level 2 Samsung support defiantly insists is OK.
In HDMI mode, they have written a fix (as of this writing) which allows a hardware option to 'fit screen' instead of the usual '16x9', which of course never should have been necessary, since the monitor itself is shaped as a 16x9 to naturally match the 16x9 standard. Also, the default mode for use in HDMI is AV, not PC, and if you don't override that, the type quality in particular is smeared and virtually unusable.
Worse yet, the front panel controls, which are both critical and extremely difficult to use, except in very bright light, can be overridden by software (convenient), but again ONLY if you are not using Windows 7 64-bit, a limitation you can find buried in their Web site.
Of the three reviews submitted to their site, it got one five star and two one-star reviews, and Samsung deleted the initial one-star and refused to publish mine. A company that makes a lot of fine products can get in serious trouble treating users as the enemy and failing to support those products. Be forewarned.

This TV was purchased to meet the needs of a tech savvy college student. It has a plethora of inputs to make it a versatile HDTV/Monitor. This TV also has excellent quality in other departments.
In the visual department, the 1080p quality is phenomenal. I haven't tested anything below Full HD because I don't have anything at those resolutions unless I dumb down the resolution. At the default settings, the picture quality is crisp and detailed. It also has a response time of 5ms which allows for quick movements in video games. Picture-in-Picture also makes a return on this Samsung model, and it works as expected.
Onto the Audio Department, I at first experienced volume issues but I soon realized that the issue was not with the B2230HD, but with the volume settings on the computer that was hooked up. So make sure that you have all the volume settings at max on your equipment if your testing your set-ups audio. The TV also has different audio settings that tailor to what your are watching. For example, if you are watching a presidential speech and the background is a little loud, go into the easy access tools menu and change the audio settings to speech and the persons voice will be amplified from the background. For the size of the TV, the audio is awesome.
As an avid gamer, I am very pleased with this TV. 9.8/10

First of all the video doesn't even come close to showing the clarity this screen provides, but I hope it's slightly helpful in that you can see the size better in comparison to a desk and stuff. Now about this beautiful monitor. I admit I've only been looking at it for about a week, but so far my eyes couldn't be happier. LED screens are clearly going to be the future. They look beautiful and save energy and space, and the screen is SO thin! Setup was a breeze - I just connected it to my desktop. The monitor comes with both DVI and VGA cables, but since my desktop had an HDMI output I bought a Premium High Resolution 10FT / 3m 24K GOLD HDMI TO DVI M/M CABLE FOR HDTV PLASMA DVD that uses the HDMI from my Desktop into the DVI in the monitor. I doubt I really needed to buy this, compared the cable with just the regular DVI to DVI and it still looked great, though it did seem a dash clearer (it could be my imagination).
Also, when shopping around and reading reviews of other monitors (especially LED) I noticed several customers complaining that it took a lot of setting switches to get the screen to look right.. with this monitor (at least for me) the picture looked perfect right from the start up. It does let you change the contrast and such, but I haven't dared to mess with them because I think it looks perfect as is.
About the sound.. I watch a lot of movies on my computer and listen to a lot of music, so imagining using a monitor's built in sound system horrifies me, but if you don't care about a high quality stereo system, I listened to the speakers and they'll do just fine.
So my overall review is an A+ thumbs up. I spent hours looking at monitors at Best Buy and on Amazon and anywhere else that sells them and I think I made a great choice with this ViewSonic. Granted, I've only had it a handful of days, but hopefully I won't have to revise this review for at least 3 years (that's how long the warranty is). If you have any other questions about the screen or would like to see a different video just leave a comment and I'll try to help you out!
**4 Month Update**
- Just thought I'd let you guys know it's been nearly 4 months now and my 5 star review still stands so far. Absolutely no dead pixels, and absolutely no problems. Unlike other LEDs I've seen in the store, the stand on this is very sturdy and has never even hinted at falling over. My comp doesn't have a blu ray player, but I watched some 1080p stuff online and it is noticably spectacular on this screen. And now I see Amazon is selling it even cheaper than what I paid for it ($189) so I can't recommend it enough!

Samsung P2770FH 27-Inch Full HD LCD Monitor (Rose Black) Review

Samsung P2770FH 27-Inch Full HD LCD Monitor (Rose Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this monitor for a great deal at a local warehouse store. It looks amazing and it's huuuuge. And surprisingly, it's super light (which makes it easy to pick up / install). One of the things I like about it is the audio out and optical audio out ports on the back of the monitor. This makes it so that I can plug in my speakers directly into the monitor as opposed to the back of my computer and it's easy to use multiple HDMI devices without having to mess with audio input plugs.
I did only buy this a couple days ago, so I wouldn't be aware of any long-term issues; but it's been working like a champ so far. The main reason I wanted to post this review is because of all the misleading bad reviews on here...
The people posting bad reviews on here have some serious hangups. One person is complaining about his video card being sub-par, but blames the monitor anyway. Another guy's comment is complaining about the number of HDMI ports (honestly, why would you need more than one for a monitor?) and false advertising (I haven't seen any site claim that there are 2 hdmi pots). The people who experienced touch button issues are probably validated, but I have had zero problems using those buttons. One person also mentioned that larger monitors should have higher resolutions, and such monitors do exist (for about $1,000); however, you shouldn't expect that from a monitor in this price range.

Samsung B2330H 23-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black Review

Samsung B2330H 23-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black
Average Reviews:

I had a Samsung 204B LCD for many years and I was happy with it. Recently it started taking about 10 minutes to warm up before I could see any image on the screen so I decided it was time to move on. I did a lot of research, then went in a competitor's store and almost changed my mind. I wanted the B2330H but the LG monitors looked better in the store. Ultimately the 23LG LED looked like it had its own color problems and the 23LG LCD with glossy screen looked the best, but I couldn't bring myself to buy a glossy unit. Ultimately I wanted all the functionality of this Samsung monitor, including vesa mount so I purchased it at a brick and mortar store.
When I brought it home, I was really concerned about dead/stuck pixels but there were none to be had. Some reviewers have said the Samsung monitors don't display text all that well and I found that to be the case if I wasn't using the native resolution of 1920 x 1080. One of my computers couldn't output to that and thus the text was a little fuzzy. My other two computers (using a KVM switch) could output to that resolution and the text looked great. I also hooked up my Mac Book Pro to it, and text looked good there too. Ultimately, the problem I had was with the color shifting. I noticed a faint pinkish hue on the right of the monitor which I just couldn't ignore.
I'm going to return the unit and instead go with a new Dell U2311H. TN panels, like the one I'm reviewing, tend to have color shifting problems from what I've read so the U2311H with its IPS panel might be better for uniform color distribution. If you don't care about the subtle color shift, this is a good panel. I didn't want to get another one to see if the one I had was defective because I just don't want to spend anymore time on a TN panel. I work in 3D programs and do graphic design (print and web) so space to work in AND color accuracy are important to me.

Samsung BX2231 21.5-Inch Widescreen LED-Backlit LCD Monitor (Black) Review

Samsung BX2231 21.5-Inch Widescreen LED-Backlit LCD Monitor (Black)
Average Reviews:

Pros:
Bright, good color quality. Fine, sharp image. Decent blacks. A lot of menu options. Three video inputs. No dead pixels. Bottom mounted touch controls are easier (for me) than front mounted. Thin, cool running, and lightweight. No ghosting. Decent viewing angles for a non PVA panel.
Cons:
Some light bleed at the edges. Looked lousy (for me) until I adjusted some settings in the menu. Smaller than you might think, if you are used to larger 4:3 monitors. Having a power adapter instead of a straight in plug is kind of a hassle. Only 1920:1080, not 1920:1200.
Other:
I got this monitor specifically because it was the smallest size I saw from Samsung that had the full 1920:1080 resolution (I wanted a 1920 by 1200, but apparently Samsung doesn't make any anymore). I wanted a fine dot pitch, and I got it. The text and graphics are sharp and clear. The size is smaller than what I was expecting, but I got used to it. Text is so much clearer than larger monitors, I consider it a good trade.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the color compared to my old monitors. I don't know if it is the LED back light or not, but it looks great. Black levels are pretty good too. I did have to change the "HDMI black level" setting setting from "normal" to "low" to get a decent picture, however. No ghosting in my games, either.
Finally, the real viewing angles are approaching the specs, still not as good as my Samsung PVA but still a lot better than my used-to-be-top-of-the-line non PVA Samsung. The "MagicAngle", however, is apparently just a software setting and not a hardware technology. But the viewing angles are still good.
All in all, this is a quality monitor for a great price. I was especially impressed with the menu options. If you can live with a smaller sized monitor, this should please you. Although supposedly an entry-level monitor, it is easily the better looking than all my older semi-high end ones, and it was a lot cheaper, too. I highly recommend this, considering the price.

Samsung FX2490HD 24-Inch HDTV LED Monitor (Brown) Review

Samsung FX2490HD 24-Inch HDTV LED Monitor (Brown)

First I think this monitor deserved a better score than three and half stars from cnet.com. Eric Franklin always does this wobble movement test on monitors. I understand that a monitor needs to not only feel like it is made of high quality materials, but unless you live in a high earthquake area or have a lot of children running around knocking over stuff. I don't think he should take away from the monitor by hitting the side of it to test the movement of the monitor. I don't think people plan on knocking over there monitors. In the review he did for the HP w2408h he criticized the monitor's rotating feature because the picture did not rotate. First your PC, laptop or internet device has to have this feature or be able to use that feature for the picture to rotate. So I would say the monitor was not hooked up to a device capable of that. Most monitors don't rotate anyway or at least most people use regular monitors that may only lean forward, back, turn left and right or raise up and down. Even though the Samsung FX2490HD does not raise up and down and only tilts back a little and not that much forward, most people aren't going to be looking at a monitor from the floor or ceiling. Plus if that is the case a lot of monitors can be wall mounted like most HDTV's. I don't like the fact that he knocks it for not having a DVI connection. I understand that most PC gamers need this to view their games at a higher quality, but most HDTVs, monitors even PC's or laptops, cameras, and other various electronics that use cables require you to purchase higher quality cables to get the best picture or video possible anyway. And sure some eletronics include the cables or connections that people want but most don't have everything included. And also some PC's DVI output often do not support HDMI audio so the owner of the PC would have to buy an extra cable or adapter anyway.
I DID NOT see any green tent or color when watching a HD DVD, Blu-Ray DVD & DVD movie during playback! And that was before I decided to mess with the calibration options on this monitor. And with almost any HDTV/Monitor or video/picture type electronics the user often with have to calibrate it to their liking so I don't see how this monitor could be knocked for that.
My Cons: The design of the Samsung FX2490HD is very slim and styish, but the design also makes this monitor appear smaller than other 24in monitors in it's class even though it is a 24in monitor that is larger than most stock monitors that people purchase.
Here is the monitor page as well as the Full Spec sheet page info: [...]
One fact is that the correct Full Resolution is: 1920x1080p not 1920x1440 and the correct Dynamic Contrast Ratio is:5,000,000:1 not 1,000,000:1
I confirmed this through a chat session on the Samsung website and through looking at the real Spec sheet, which I put a link up for this in my pros section for this monitor. My experience with this monitor so far has been Excellent. I couldn't ask for a better monitor!

I built a gaming rig and was looking for a nice 20+ monitor to finish the deal.
I originally went with the HP 27" LCD monitor and was looking around, price comparing and spec comparing.
I ended up looking at the Samsung LCD predecessor to this monitor, and went to buy it, and they were all out of stock. They asked if i would like this one as a replacement/upgrade, seeing the LED on the box sealed the deal.
This monitor hooked up through HDMI is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL! True color on intelligent during movies really adds a certain likelife contrast to the video.
It is glass smooth playing games (MW2, L4D2, TF2, Bioshock 1&2, Crysis, ect.) It is the BEST monitor i have ever owned.
An awesome buy and very well worth the price!

Samsung BX2431 24-Inch Widescreen LED-Backlit LCD Monitor (Black) Review

Samsung BX2431 24-Inch Widescreen LED-Backlit LCD Monitor (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The display image itself is very nice with very sharp images and vibrant colors. No complaints on the actual display (5 stars for the image). I use this monitor for work, and it is outstanding for viewing documents and web pages. I have not used it for gaming or watching movies, so I can't comment on the image quality for those uses. I really like the fact that this monitor uses a scant 27 W.
The display's physical housing however, is a major disappointment (1 star for the housing):
- The display is wobbly on the base.
- The tilt adjustment is super stiff. It takes 2 hands and more force than I'd like to apply to the wobbly base to adjust the tilt (one hand to hold the base and one hand to hold the bezel).
- The bezel and base are gloss black, so they show every single fingerprint and smudge. Samsung seems to be aware of this issue because they included a cleaning cloth with the monitor that is NOT for the display area, but for the bezel and base! Hey Samsung, skip the cleaning cloth and use a finish that does not highlight every fingerprint and smudge! Another downside of a gloss black bezel is that it reflects light from adjacent light fixtures and windows, which I find to be a distraction. I have half a mind to get out some 400 grit sand paper and take care of the gloss finish once and for all.
- The base is some stylish post modern curved design that cannot be used to put anything on (e.g. won't hold a pen, a note pad, a paperclip, or my reading glasses), and is therefore a useless waste of my desk space.
- The touch controls on the lower right side are exactly where I grab the monitor to adjust its position. Every time I do this, I accidently shut the monitor off or activate some on-screen adjustment. I prefer buttons in the lower middle to avoid this issue and show deference to our left-handed friends.
- There are no VESA mounts on the back (in case that matters to you).
Finally, the power cord includes a power converter brick in the middle of the cord, which is an inconvenience.
So, I love the display image and hate the housing on this monitor, resulting in 3 stars overall. If my complaints about the housing are not things that would bother you, go for it. If you prefer a housing with a stable and useful base, an easy tilt adjustment, a non-reflective bezel, and/or VESA mounts then you should pick a different monitor.
