ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black Review

I have owned this monitor for six months now and it has been one of my best purchases in years. I wanted a some what large monitor to use on my glass computer desk which consist of my PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and an original Xbox. First, this awesome thing is full 1080P (1920X1080P) via HDMI, DVI, VGA and even component! it's also widescreen 16X10 and not 16X9, confused? it looks a bit taller and larger than other monitors of the same screen size (25.5).
All 16X9 material like PS3 and Xbox 360 games are upcoverted to 16X10 meaning your gaming world will look just a bit more skinny and taller, this makes the games look awesome though, I have switch to 16X9 mode a couple of times (you get slight 1 inch thick black bars on the top and bottom) but original 16X9 looks weird to me now, characters look fat etc similiar to when a full screen picture is stretch to fill a widescreen display. You will love gaming on 16X10 trust me it looks wonders without any loss of picture quality. I have my PC on VGA, my 360 on HDMI, my PS3 on DVI (via hdmi to dvi) and my original xbox on component running in 480p (note that this component input is capable of full 1080p though) I noticed that 480p on this monitor looks so much better than my old Sony 32 inch HDTV, games like halo 2 and ghost recon look like 720p games! I recommend to not use the build in speakers though (who does?) buy yourself some nice PC speakers and just use the audio out jack from the monitor and your set.
The 2ms response time is brilliant on first person shooters with no ghosting at all(ghosting is what makes the screen blurry when turning or slowly moving in games). The bluish tint was there with factory settings so take a few minutes to adjust the brightness and saturation, or use these:
SPLENDID : Scenery. BRIGHTNESS 100. CONTRAST 100. SHARPNESS 100. SATURATION 73, ASCR: OFF (VERY IMPORTANT) COLOR TEMP: Cool, SKIN TONE: Reddish. ASPECT CONTROL: FULL (BUT USE 4:3 FOR NON WIDESCREEN GAMES) and for xbox 360 go to your display settings and choose "1080p" from HDTV SETTINGS, choose "standard" from REFERENCE LEVELS, and choose "YCbCr709" from HDMI COLOR SPACE, for PS3 is all automatic so don't worry about it. There it is! enjoy!

Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM 25.5-inch LCD Monitor Review

Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM 25.5-inch LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To address the previous "reviewer's" comments on this monitor. I, within the last few days, purchased the Samsung 2693HM 25.5 in. monitor, and can attest to the fact that not only are Blu-ray movies allowed to play on this monitor, they look great! Using an HDMI chord I was able to play "I Am Legend"(Blu-ray disc), through my Playstation 3, with no problem at all. Pausing the movie on Will Smith I was able to see every detail of his face, something only an HD equipped display can do with such clarity. I know also that with a little tweaking of the factory settings, I can customize it to suit my needs.
The one real gripe that I have is one that I do share with the other reviewers, concerning the menu buttons in the lower right corner of the frame. Although I do appreciate the esthetic quality of the all black frame, trying to operate, much less see the menu "buttons" is pretty frustrating. I suppose like anything though, given time one can get the hang of their operation. I just wish they were illuminated, at least while I was operating them. The good far outweighs the bad here, and I feel I made a good choice.
Aside from the ability to play Blu-ray Movies, and Playstation 3 games, I was thrilled to have this great monitor for my creative endeavors. being an artist, and a Mac person, I can really appreciate the real estate that I have to work with, with this size monitor (especially when working in Photshop, or iMovie). I originally was looking at the Apple cinema displays, but was encouraged to look into the Samsung's for getting more bang for your buck. With HDMI, and more flexibility in making adjustments to suit your needs, it seemed the clear choice. Not to mention the price.
Do yourself a favor and always trust reviews of people who have actually tried the product out or ran it through its paces. Research is key, as are more than one, or a few reviewers opinions.
Hope this helps!

Toshiba 26LV610U 26-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black Review

Toshiba 26LV610U 26-Inch 720p LCD TV with Built in DVD Player, Black
Average Reviews:

Like all Toshiba TV's, the picture quality is top-notch. I compared this TV to a Samsung of similar size. Toshiba's color was a tad better than Samsung, but the Samsung was excellent also. Built in DVD player is a plus when space is limited for a separate player. We use this TV in our bedroom and the 26" size is perfect, almost bought Toshiba's similiar TV in 22" size, glad I picked went for the 26", bigger is always better...
Two gripes, you cannot tilt the TV downward. We have ours on a 5 drawer dresser and we have to look up to watch the TV when laying down in bed. If you do not tilt the TV downward the picture quality goes away, and I mean away, so dark you can't even watch it. I made a wedge out of some molding I had laying around to raise the rear of the TV so it tilts down. No having the screen tilt is a big mistake by Toshiba, the smaller screens sizes of this similar TV DO tilt, I cannot see why Toshiba did not use the same tilt feature in the 26" model. Very bad design for Toshiba on this one. The other gripe is the sound amplifier could be a tad stronger if the TV is used in a room other than a bedroom. The best bet would be a set of amplified speakers if the TV is used in a noisey enviroment. Yes I know you shouldn't have to go out and buy external speakers, but this is a common problem with ALL flat screen LCD TV's, there is not enough room for quality speakers in the thin case design.
Overall this a great TV for picture quality and the built in DVD player is a plus.
To solve the tilting problem, I would suggest mounting the TV on a wall with a wall mount that will enable you to tilt the TV to any desired position. I am thinking of doing that myself.
I would highly recommend this TV/DVD combo.
Additional comment: Wall mounting was simple and easy, but you do need 2 people of course to do this safely. Find at least one stud in your wall, the spacing of the mount does not allow you to screw the mount into two studs of course. Use winged Toggle Bolts for the side without the stud if mounting on sheet rock with a hollow wall behind the sheet rock. If stud mounting is not acceptable, the use of the winged Toggle Bolts can be used to attach the mount to the wall. Make sure your mount has full tilt capabilites of many degrees.

Vizio VMM26 26 Inch LCD Glass Multi Media Display Review

Vizio VMM26 26 Inch LCD Glass Multi Media Display
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had the monitor for a week now and am extremely happy with it. I did a lot of research before getting it at [...]. I was willing to risk it due to their return policy.
The feature list of the monitor is impressive and unmatched by anything out there. I also find that all the features work as advertised and have not been disappointed by any.
The ones that made me pick this monitor are:
- large screen (obviously)
- 16:10 screen ratio, instead of the 16:9 that is more commonly sold as widescreen. If you only watch DVDs, then maybe 16:9 works for you, but for any other computer application 16:10 gives a much better real estate.
- high resolution 1920:1200
- adjustable height!! there are very few monitors out there that offer that, and none even close in price. if you look at the 22" and 24" monitors they end up standing loo low ergonomically speaking and will make you hunch over, unless you raise them somehow. This is especially true for widescreens that tend to have a height comparable to a 17" lcd.
- built in USB hub (maybe i'll use it some day :)
- VGA, HDMI and DVI inputs (with ALL CABLES INCLUDED!!)
- sleek, modern, high-end look (for example the touch controls that disappear when not in use)
I was prepared for the following shortcomings from reading other reviews:
1. glossy, reflective screen
2. bluish color tint of the image that is difficult or even impossible to correct
I found #1 to be completely unfounded! While the screen is glossy and thus more reflective than the matte LCD screens, I compared it to about 5 other glossy monitors and 2 other laptops in the store and it was not any more reflective then those. Furthermore, in day to day use (I mean 12-14 hours a day) I don't notice it at all. In theory, if I watched movies with a lot of dark area in them, it might be noticeable, but again, it is not different than the other monitors on the market.
The real issue is #2. The blue tint is quite noticeable when you have a white window in front of you. However, I was able to correct a lot of it using the video card Gamma controls and I don't notice it anymore.
I was ready to return the monitor of these 2 issues proved to be problematic, but I am definitely keeping it. I know I would never be able to find a monitor this nice (and big) in this price range, and the blue tint issue is easy to accept.
A couple of more comments:
- tested the built in speakers, I did not notice anything worth noting compared to other built-ins. Note that if you connect with HDMI, you can get your sound that way, without connecting an audio cable. I have a nice speaker system, so I don;t plan on using them.
- the manual is useless, it does not describe the settings, and some of them are not obvious (acronyms). nevertheless, if you need a manual to set up a monitor, you have bigger problems mate
- the build quality seems very nice, everything is solid and stable.
- make sure you have desk space, especially if you buy two - I mean this thing is the same screen size as my old TV!
I highly recommend it.

Never really concentrated to much on the sony products because of the prices of them. For the money, you can get a larger sized samsung like a 32", or for the same size TV you can save big bucks by going with a westinghouse or other bargain priced TV's sized at 26" which is ideal for a bedroom. After purchasing a 26" westinghouse and not being extremely happy I bought a 32" Vizio. Still not satisfied, I left the bargain TV basement and took the plunge and bought this TV. Wow, what a difference. At $300-$400 dollars more than the westy, I'm not sure if it's that much better if tied to a budget, but if you've got it (cash), get it (sony). As far as specs go, read the description, but rest assured this TV is really nice. Sound is better than expected for a 26", menus are nice, picture is B.A. On XBOX 360, the best and most graphically demanding game is by far Gears of War. This TV makes it look incredible. The darks are dark enough in the spooky parts unlike other TVs I've tried out which looked washed out and lame. This set really makes the whole thing look alot better. I have been switching between the 3 presets (vivid, cinema, standard) and haven't made any tweaks yet exept for turning on the dynamic lighting. I'm sure you could make the picture even better with some adjustments but it's unnecessary.

Toshiba 26AV502R 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Toshiba 26AV502R 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note: I purchased this 26" LCD TV one week ago. As I am waiting for the cable company to upgrade my service, this set is simply receiving a standard cable signal without benefit of a converter box or High Def signal. Many LCD owners consider the signal source a major factor in image quality -- so I want to be clear on this point at the outset. Also, my DVD player is more than 5 years old and does not upconvert.
PROS:
Easy to install base pedestal. Four screws (provided) and a phillips head screwdriver are all that's needed. Instructions were clear and straight forward. Hooking up the coax cable took only a minute.
Superb remote control. Layout is intelligent and intuitive -- a pleasure to use. Glows in the dark (bright!) Sleep timer button is well placed on the upper corner and easy to access without even looking. Easily one the best designed remotes on the market and a pleasure to use.
Picture and sound set-up controls are very easy to understand. Owners manual instruction very clear and straightforward.
Sound is excellent. Very good quality and volume. Treble, Bass, and Balance controls are easy to use if you choose. For it's size and likely application -- a bedroom or a small den -- the sound is really quite good. This set has forward facing speakers -- not down firing as many LCD sets have.
Picture is fair to good. Live TV broadcasts such as news programs and talk shows appear brighter and with better, cleaner colors than movies -- especially films with dark scenes. DVD programs appear much better. (Please note again the standard coax cable signal source I am presently receiving)
2 HDMI inputs and multiple others. More than enough for most applications.
CONS:
Picture not as sharp as I would like, especially broadcast TV as opposed to DVD (standard DVD). Also, I am noticing scenes go from dark to light and back for no apparent reason. This could be due to a setting which may be improperly set .. but I've tried it both ways but see the same effect.
One other frustrating scenario for example: multiple camera shows. For example, a news program where you have an anchor in the studio and a reporter in the field. The anchor looks pretty good but the field reporter might look a bit green or orange. Other sets even this out, the Toshiba does not.
Conclusion:
For the money, this is probably the best value on a 26" LCD TV on the market today. Prices under $[...] are out there. If you are an "average" TV viewer, you may find this set to be just the ticket for your bedroom. But, if you have a critical eye, you may find the tuner or signal processing unit on this set a bit under par compared to Sony and Samsung -- perhaps more sophisticated technology, but which also carry price tags of $[...] and more higher.
Once I get a better cable signal, I may amend this review. Indeed, I will decide whether I am keeping the Toshiba or spending the extra money for the Samsung 26". So please "stay tuned".
UPDATE: Yesterday I installed a Panamax PM8-HT 8-Outlet Power Line Conditioner and Surge Protector. The image quality of this TV increased markedly! Panamax PM8-HT 8-Outlet Power Line Conditioner and Surge Protector

I got this TV, mostly because it was a name brand and cheaper than most. I really like all the ports and I was willing to go with a 720 rather than a 1080 out of pricing. for a simple high def TV, this is really nice, I play alot of games and watch even more movies, so my old CRT wasnt going to cut it anymore. A few things I found to grip about(isnt that why we all read these things anyways?, lol)
1. the speakers broadcast most of the sound BEHIND the TV, now my games sound OK, but movies lose a bit. I would recomend using a stereo or alternate device to broadcast your sound.
2. I would have liked more than one S-Video port, I use alot of devices, and don't want to go out and get a componant cable just to have the DVD player and games at the same time with out loss of signal.
and 3. It was kinda wierd to find the buttons are not on the front of the TV, so that can make changing channels ackward if you lose your remote, and your TV is against something, not something that effects everyone, but hey, just a simple problem.
all in all, this is a great TV for someone who wants reasonable HD at a low cost. If you are looking for a 720p, just buy this one, toshiba is a crappy brand, and sony costs too much. and everytime I buy panasonic, I am always satisfied.
hope my review helps

I just bought this model, and I also own a Sony 40" S model. I was tempted to get Sony's S model in this size, but the M is a newer model, and $50-$80 cheaper. Picture quality is, overall, equal to my larger set, (though fleshtones are more natural on the "S") which cost twice as much. However, I was surprised that it does not come with the stand attached. Not a big deal, but I've never seen this practice before. Also, unlike the S series classy flat black matte finish, this M model has the "Samsungy" glossy piano black finish. Again, not a big deal..but still. Anyway, despite all my nitpicking, it is the picture that really matters, and in that area, this set delivers in Sony tradition..excellent. For the money, a great set, a great value, but it will remind you it is entry level, something the S models did not do...of course, Sony's least, is still better than it's competitors best.

Bought to replace a smaller-screen TV in our bedroom. The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I've seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money.

SAMSUNG P2570 24.6-Inch LCD Monitor Review

SAMSUNG P2570 24.6-Inch LCD Monitor

I purchased 2 of these monitors to run a dual-monitor setup in my home office. My initial concerns when purchasing were a lack of USB ports in the monitor, no webcam, and a fixed base for a stand. However, a leading name brand, great size, and great specs convinced me to take the plunge.
Assembly took about 25 seconds. It took another 25 seconds to hook up the included DVI cables, and I was up and running. My first thoughts after hooking them up were 1. The picture is crystal clear. 2. The size is awesome. 3. What an elegent look having the glossy black frame with clear glass borders and clear glass stand.
I don't buy monitors for bells and whistles, I buy them for viewing. 1 screen EASILY fits 2 full sized web browsers. I love the dual screen set up with 4 full sized browsers.
With the HDMI connection, I'm going to hook up our Cable box and switch the input so my wife can watch her recorded shows in high definition on the right monitor while editing her photos with the left one. If my son wants to hook up his Xbox, thats an option as well.
Overall, if you want an amazing high resolution experience and a lot of screen real estate to work with for a really fair price, I highly recommend this monitor. If you are in love with the built in webcam/usb ports/adjustability and positioning of the screen, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Wall Mount Bracket 24-25.5

After lots of looking around, I finally got the nerve to order this for my T260HD and luckily it fits without a problem. My only complaint is still that samsung should have incorporated mounting holes into the design so we don't have to spend an additional $30 to mount this to the wall.
Definitely reconmmend this item to Samsung T240/T260HD owners. it is a sturdy mount and allows for the tv to tilt. In my case I am using the bracket in conjuntion with a sanus articulating wall mount, so it easilly pans, extends, rotates, and now tilts. Yes, my mount does this as well, but I would have to undo the friction knobs. the samsung bracket is a torsion spring so it holds the tilt without having to loosen anything.

I purchased this TV to replace the big tube TV in our bedroom, and have been extremely pleased with it. The viewing angle is extremely wide compared to other LCD TV's I have looked at in the past. I don't know if that is a product of the technology getting better in time or if it's specific to Vizio. The picture quality of HD signal rivals my 1080i native 50" plasma. The menu/software is fairly intuitive and gets you setup in short order. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating is due to the built in guide, which will show you what is on the current channel only. It would be nice to have some memory in the guide allowing you to view other channels schedule as well. I know that most of the converter boxes are doing this so it seems this would be a fairly cheap addition. Another poster mentioned that you cannot change the picture format & that it was not Closed Caption capable....which is simply not true. I can select from normal, wide, or pan for my standard def signals. Of course, if you're watching HD you are forced to use wide....which you'll get with any widescreen TV?!? Closed Captioning is also available.
Wall mounting this TV only requires a light duty wall mount as the TV itself only weighs 17 lbs. I picked up a mount at Best Buy for $29, mounted the TV to the wall, and now have the top of my dresser back.

I was researching HD TV's to get to play 360 on when my large TV was being used. Ordered this TV from Amazon (had shipping issues but not amazon's fault so won't get into that)
Upon opening the package it looks real slick. It was a snap to get it installed into the base, placed into position and turned on. One thing I noticed right away is that the remote control for this TV works for both my Samsung 52" and the Viore (and the samsun control works for the Viore too) After some googling it appears that Viore's are manufactured using a lot of Samsung parts.
The internal speakers didn't seem very good but I will just be using headphones with this set (which sounds good).
The 1080p looks awesome on 360 playing modern warfare 2. Everything is crisp and sharp.
Overall I am impressed with this TV. It's easy to move around, cheap, and great quality!
If you're looking for a cheap secondary TV for console gaming (360, etc) look no further!

I'm very happy with this TV. The picture is great, and the sound is good. The Amazon site said it had three HDMI ports at the time I ordered, but the TV in reality only has one HDMI (I sent Amazon a note to correct the product description.) I wasn't thrilled about not getting three HDMI ports, but I decided to keep the TV nonetheless since it has a great picture in the size I need and at a good price.

Samsung LN26A450 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LN26A450 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

So, despite the poor reviews I re-read them and figured they were by people that didn't know much about HD-TV's or are bitter by one thing or another about the product.
Why will you buy this screen? Well you want a medium sized TV for a bedroom, college dorm, etc that has TONS of inputs.
For you gamers, this is the perfect sized TV that will hook up to your consoles with multiple HDMI inputs and component inputs you will get a bunch of your consoles plugged in to this without additional AV tuners. Note: this doesn't have composite inputs, so you will have to either buy an HDMI cable or component cable for the consoles if you don't have one already.
The contrast ratio and brightness of this screen is also amazing which makes movies and games come to life. Been playing GTA4 over the weekend through my ps3 and everything was amazing and didn't notice any delay (another perk of the 8ms response time).
The speakers for this definitely are it's one weakness, so that review is appropriate, they are in the back of the screen and pointing directly down to the ground. So while that kind of sucks honestly you have to ask yourself, are you going to use the TV speakers or use the multiple outputs to plug into a surround sound anyways?
I would ignore the poster that talked about bad picture plugging directly from cable, that will happen on ANY HDTV because without a cable box you don't get a digital signal (at least not until the digital transition) and because of that ANY HDTV will look bad. The cable box converts the signal.

Samsung LNS2641D 26-Inch LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNS2641D 26-Inch LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is intended to be a little technical, so if you want an easy description of this TV, this would be it: it's a great TV with features most entry level LCD buyers are looking for: great contrast, decent response time, good color reproduction and an extensive jack panel including a FANTASTIC VGA PC connection.
Here's the technical break-down of what I think makes this TV great:
1.) It's an PVA (Patterned Vertical Alignment) LCD panel. PVAs and S-PVAs (not usually available in this size) are my favorite over the other two common LCD panels: TFT (Thin Film Transitors) and IPS (In-Plane Switching). TFTs (used most commonly by Sharp) boast excellent response/lag time (usually around 6ms); however, they suffer from the worst color reproduction and artifacting problems. IPS panels (most commonly used by Panasonic) can be thought of as the older predecessor to PVA panels. While they boast excellent color reproduction and moderate contrast, they generally have the longest response/lag times (usually in the range of 12ms). PVA panels (used by Samsung and Sony) offer the best of both worlds with excellent color reproduction (keep in mind, color reproduction also depends on the set's lamp), the best in contrast, decent response times (usually around 8ms) and excellent viewing angles (up to 178* on S-PVA panels).
2.) It's made by Samsung. Samsung and Sharp have long been the leaders in LCD panel technology, investing large amounts of money into LCD R&D. Samsung can take a lot of the credit for the dip in prices of larger LCD screens with the construction of their generation seven LCD plant (the generation number of a plant refers to the size of the glass panels they are able to cut to use in TVs). Samsung built the plant and Sony rents/shares part of it. SAMSUNG DOES NOT MANUFACTURE SONY'S LCDs. This is a common misconception. Samsung owns the plant in which Sony does its glass cutting, but the panels are independently manufactured by each company.
3.) The PC connection is great. Many LCDs come with a VGA connector to attach a PC and use the TV as a monitor (recently, Sharp has been removing this feature from a lot of its TVs). What makes this PC connection great is that it will accept a full screen signal from a compatible video card, up to 1330 by 768 if my memory serves me correct. Many LCD TVs will only accept a 640 x 480 or 600 x 800 PC input.
4.) The matte black bezel. You might think this is purely a cosmetic perk, but it has serious implications! The whole reason that TV cabinets were originally black after the console era was because black draws the eye out, to make the screen appear larger and more vibrant. The 51 series that Samsung offers does boast higher qualitative statistics such as a wider color gamut and higher contrast ratio; however, I still like the 41 series better because the high gloss finish on the bezel of the 51 series is extremely distracting. Sharp started this trend last model year by offering glamourous "piano black" on their TVs, but think of this: a piano is beautiful because it has a high-gloss, COMPLETELY FLAT finish. The high-gloss finish on these TVs accentuates all the bumps and fluctuations in the plastic of the TV. It merely looks like high gloss plastic (that is far from completely smooth) instead of the glamoursly intended piano finish. LCDs are great for brightly lit areas because they absorb, not reflect, light like plasma TVs do. This high gloss finish makes a bigger difference than you might think.
5.) The remote is ergonomically comfortable. Anyone who has a Sony TV will tell you they're remote is confortable and easy to operate and anyone that owns anything JVC will tell you there are more words on the remote than in the manual. Samsung has developed a remote control layout this year that the company has used across the board on almost all their TVs. It's a perfect balance of functionality and ergonomics. And it looks great too...
6.) It's light. And it's lighter than most LCDs in this size, especially over Panasonic. Sony had issues with weight last year which that have since mildly addressed, but just compare the weight of this item to that of Panasonic's models as well as the depth. The Samsung is slim and light, making it easy to mount on the wall without fear of it pulling the wall in.And in closing, I wanted to address a previous review posted here: YOU DO NOT NEED AN AV SWITCH TO OPERATE THIS TV. Your connection set depends completely on what you are hooking the TV up to. In the case of Time Warner Cable, they use a box to descramble some channels, so a box is necessary. In most markets, a box is necessary from your cable or satellite provider to provide HDTV (this TV is an integrated HDTV, meaning it will receive high def broadcasts over the air if they are available in your market, but just like an old antenna, you have to be able to receive those signals; things, such as buildings, will interfere). Usually you will hook your box up to the TV via component cables or a single HDMI cable, depending on your cable or satellite provider. Hooking any TV up to standard cable with an RF cable IS ONLY GOING TO GIVE YOU STANDARD TV, unless your cable company provides un-encrypted digital cable. This is EXTREMELY rare because a box allows the cable company to encrypt pay stations. Unencrypted digital cable systems are usually only available in mass-purchase markets, such as on college campuses. Be sure you understand your connect scheme and HD availability before you purchase a TV or explain your setup to a store salesperson. Any QUALIFIED salesperson should be able to tell you what is right for you.
(BTW, I often get people asking me if I work for any specific company--I do not work for an electronics company; I'm still in college. I sell electronics at my summer/part-time job, but I sell lots of different brands and items, not just Samsung or any other brand.)

If you're just entering the HD arena and don't want to break the bank on your first flat-screen television, the entry-level 26-inch Samsung LNS2641D LCD TV is a great fit for your budget and it offers many of the same video processing features as its higher end 51- and 52-Series siblings. It features an integrated HDTV tuner, 10-bit video processor, and a 3000:1 contrast ratio for smooth, vibrant pictures. It also includes dual HDMI inputs for simultaneous signal transfer of audio and video from digital devices and PC connectivity. The dual purpose pedestal stand can also be used as an articulating wall mount when it’s folded back. Additionally, the stand can be removed for wall-mounting via optional VESA compatible hardware (such as Samsung wall mounting kit WMTL2600).
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
The LNS2641D features a stunning 3000:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 brightness rating (for brighter whites, deeper blacks, and every shade in between), a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution (for a widescreen 16:9 screen aspect ratio), 170-degree viewing angle, and a super-fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which minimizes blurring of moving images and is especially helpful for sports and action movies. Other convenience features include:
Picture-in-picture (PIP) enables convenient simultaneous viewing of TV programs and video or PC sources.
Built-in image scaler to handle inputs from a variety of digital and analog audio/video sources.
Parental Control (V-Chip) helps parents monitor what their children watch on TV by establishing rating limits.
Auto volume leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing.
Multi-lingual on-screen displays in English, Spanish or French.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the sides of the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass. It produces 5 watts of power per channel (for 10 watts total) and offers the following connection options:
Composite (RCA audio/video): 2 inputs (1 on the side)
S-Video: 2 inputs (1 on the side)
Component (Y/Pb/Pr): 1 input
HDMI: 2 inputs
PC: 1 D-Sub15 input
RF: 2 inputs
Sound monitor output: 1
Digital optical audio ouput: 1
Headphone: 1
RS232 port: 1

Tech Talk HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
