(More customer reviews)We got this system yesterday after waiting about six weeks. We had found it when searching the LG site, and while it was "released", the LG rep I emailed said that it was just taking time for the distributors to get it to retailers. LG service was prompt and VERY helpful!
When it was finally available on Amazon, my wife and I jumped on it and had it over nighted. (BTW: Amazon Prime rocks!).
This system was everything we wanted. It was easy to put together, and the NetFlix, You Tube, and the Pandora radio were simple to get going.
The picture and sound quality were excellent and we were thrilled with every feature except one.
The rear speakers are NOT exactly wireless.
We had envisioned that three front three (right, left, and center) would plug into the blu ray receiver, and the subwoofer and rear speakers would be completely wireless.
What we found was that the system comes with a box (about the size and weight of a Wii) called the "Wireless Speaker Router". This box can be placed anywhere in a room, as long as it has access to an electrical outlet. The box DOES wirelessly connect to the receiver AND wirelessly connect to the subwoofer.
HOWEVER, the two rear speakers have to be connected via speaker wire to this device.
We have put the wireless router in the back of our living room, thus significantly reducing the amount of wire needed for each rear speaker. If we has had to wire these rear speakers directly to the blu ray receiver, it would have taken a lot more wire. But make no mistake, the rear speakers are wired. You will have figure out how to hide the wires along open walls and across doorways. We had hoped for complete wireless.
The wireless router has pretty good range from what we've seen. It doesn't have to have an unobstructed line of site to the receiver/subwoofer or anything. So I suppose you could take it and the two speakers to another room and enjoy the internet radio or the ipod dock or the built in AM/FM radio or any other audio signal. The router and speakers are small enough to be quite portable.
So all in all, this is a five star system. Just not with completely wireless speakers.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit from Sears but wish I had gotten it through Amazon given the price differential. I compared it in the store with other similar sized TVs and its picture was superior. Having had it for a few weeks I've drawn some conclusions pro and con:
Pro: very easy set up, audio better than others though speaker sound comes from behind the unit. Nice remote and other Sony remotes work with it. Bright and brilliant colors. Quick start up. The whole unit has a quality feel to it and its manual is simple and user friendly. It really isn't needed. Easy to make adjustments to picture size and color settings.
Cons: picture quality is 720mp. My 48" high end Sony LCD has much better defined skin tones and colors don't vary as much as this unit. Faces washed out in some settings unlike the higher end Sony that I have. I prefer speakers in the front. There is no contrast adjustment and it sorely needs it with some channels. Minor assembly for the base. "Favorites" are not as easy to use as my Samsung's or my high end Sony.
I primarily did this review b/c the one existing review brought the rating much lower than it should be. For the money this TV set is a good buy. It is also the best of the comparable TV's that I looked at. I should not have compared something this inexpensive to a $3400 top of the line 48" Sony.

The finish is very glossy and shows every bit of dust and fingerprints and likely will easily scratch. The sound is a bit lacking when compared to a a true 7.1 system with a good (Onkyo) receiver. So, even though this decodes DTS-HD as well as DD True HD, it's kind of useless with this system. While it will decode those, you will not really get to appreciate it. Also, the sub is a bit weak. You have a 3 channel amp to run 2 speakers and the sub. So, if you simply do not have the room and you have to worry about neighbors, this is an okay system. I was thinking about giving this 4 stars, but after all, you can do better without spending that much more.

(More customer reviews)So I read the other reviews trying to find out if I should buy this tv or not and I didnt really get the information I needed from them to make an educated decision; I was very concerned with it being 60hz rather than 120hz, I read a lot of reviews talking about "blurring" "ghosting" and such for 60hz. I then did my research on my blu ray player(my Playstation 3). Turns out the Playstation 3 only does 60hz or 30hz, and on most games only does 720p. So with no intent on up-grading blu ray players this tv was an excellent choice, I have no regrets at all. Just watched Avatar on blu ray, looked awesome!!! no "blurring" or anything like the 120hz and up snobby crowd would have you believing with their tales of imaginary blurring and ghosting. Works great with hdtv and my 1080p laptop. I tweaked the picture settings to my likings, I suggest you do this too to get the most out of it, a helpful hint, the best colors to do this is with red, black and white, if you get those 3 colors looking good the rest fall into place.

- Video Processing : BRAVIA Engine 3(tm) Technology:
Many of the LCD tv companies share the production of various parts, including the screen. One of the major differences between the brands is the software that drives it. The EX 700 has the Bravia Engine 3 driving it. The EX500 and lower have the Bravia Engine 2. The Sony rep told me that Sony makes 90+% of the digital cameras and equipment so they have the software advantage when it comes to interpreting those inputs to get the output (the tv). Take this for what it's worth coming from a rep, but it's something to consider when comparing TV brands. With the Bravia 3 engine you know you have the latest available.
- The EX700 has a motion sensor (Presence Sensor) that turns off the TV when nobody is in the room. I think this is important because heat can damage your tv. If you accidentally leave it on your risk of damage is lessened by the auto-off. Also, this will save some $ in energy bills.
- The EX700 has Motionflow 120Hz Technology for Smooth Motion, the EX 500 does also. The EX400 does not.

(More customer reviews)I have had this TV for 4 days so far, and I can't say enough positive about things about it. The set up was easy, and the amount of control you have for the picture settings is very in depth. The extra warranty of the 860 (18 months instead of 12 months for the 850) is a nice perk. The blue TOC (Touch of Color) is barely noticeable, it really looks black/graphite grey unless you look very closely. The good news is that the 'halo effect' that some owners of the 750 have complained about is non-existent on the 860. I also love the swivel stand because I did not wall mount this TV even though it is exceptionally thin.
Plugged in my HD cable box and new Blu-ray player via HDMI and everything has worked perfectly so far. The picture is stunning, and there are so many functions and features that I just haven't gone through all of them yet.
On the flip side, there is a lag if you are using the little circle dial on the remote. Better off just clicking up, down, left, or right instead of spinning the dial around and waiting for the TV to react.
I don't have surround sound yet, but the TV speakers aren't too bad. Hard to rave about fake surround sound from tiny TV speakers, but that's expected.
Overall, I would recommend this TV without hesitation this to anyone looking for a new 1080p LCD TV.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Samsung LN22A450 after considering many other models in the Samsung lineup (the 19" version of this set as well as the 6 series version). I found that the 19" was still a bit too small for my liking, and the 6 series did not have enough improvements over this model to warrant the $90 increase in cost (the LN22A650 was on sale at a local store for $550). I ended up buying this television for $460 from amazon, and I am very happy with my decision. The tv is a perfect size for my small bedroom, and the picture quality is superior to many other brands that I have seen.
Pros:
-Built in digital tuner can be used to receive FREE HD channels via OTA broadcasts when connected to an antenna (almost all hdtv's have this, but it's an important feature to note if you don't want to pay for cable)
-PC input (VGA) can be used to connect a laptop for viewing streaming or downloaded internet content
-Picture quality (free HD channels are amazing, and upconverted DVDs are also great)
-Aesthetics of the tv set itself (it looks pretty slick when paired up with a matching upconverting dvd player, the Samsung DVD-F1080 1080p Upconverting Compact DVD Player)
Cons:
-Only 1 HDMI input
-VGA instead of DVI input for PC
-SRS "surround sound" is disappointing; I just keep it turned off and turn up the volume
Despite the few complaints, I still give this product 5 stars, because samsung seems to have gotten all the more important details right with this tv. You can't really expect to get impressive sound from hidden speakers that are pointed downwards, though the quality is good enough for a small room. Highly recommended!

(More customer reviews)I had been eyeing the LED market for a year in preparation to replace by HD Projection TV I bought back in 2003. Samsung was first on my list, but after some independent reviews (CNET, Consumer Reports), I decided to go with LG. This unit has all the bells and whistles at a competitive price point ($1,800 at the time of purchase) and the LG brand is gaining a good reputation.
I was concerned about damage during delivery after reading the only other post on Amazon at the time I ordered, but the unit came in a timely manner and the person delivering insisted on opening the box and looking the unit over before requesting my acceptance. While I can see how the stand could possibly damage the front of the TV if significant force was put on the front of the box, my delivery had no issues.
Granted, I had not formally seen the display on this specific model when I purchased it. I had seen the 55LE5400 in local stores, but the 55LE5500 was purchased sight unseen. I could not be more thrilled with what I got. I have the TV in a large room with lots of Florida sunlight. A minor tilt of the TV on the wall unit and I have no significant glare. The image displayed on the screen is great. High Def channels are pristine. Low Def channels, while they do show some blocky edges at times, are more than adequate. (The only Low Def channel we need if for some children's shows and the quality is more than enough for my 2 year old.)
There are plenty of display controls to fine tune the screen for your room. The widgets are nice, but I wouldn't consider them a reason to pick this unit over another. 240Hz was one aspect I thought I wanted, but the TruMotion 120Hz on this unit has kept up with any fast panning motions displayed. The Clear Voice aspect has been great for late night TV watching when you want to hear the dialog, but don't need the booming car crashes to wake up the sleeping family. Overall I am thrilled with my purchase. I can clearly see the benefit of LED and LG has delivered on its promises. I would recommend this TV without hesitation.

(More customer reviews)1080p HD Picture Quality: The picture presentation of the from the 50S2 is still very bright and with the improved black levels much improved. Black levels are deep and strong with an HD signal input through HDMI. While not the best we've seen lately, they lose the dark gray haziness that the S2 can display with a 480i signal. Color is plenty saturated and dark shadow detail remains excellent.
Picture Presentation from 480i signals: We always test every TV with a 480i resolution. It is a great test of a TVs upconversion and processing chip sets. The signal may be likened to what you would see with your normal digital cable or satellite signal.The TC-P50S2 series plasma contains the new an updated version of the NEO PDP (i.e. plasma screen) from Panasonic. This is the same screen used in some of the higher end Panasonic series which should make this model a good value if picture quality is your primary objective. We find the picture quality overall improved from the prior S1 series. The drives do a little better job of eliminating motion artifacts than the S1 series did. Color rendition is still with black levels being the primary progress area of the S2 series delivering more depth and solidity. As was the case on the S1 series, brightness is a strength of the these newer Panasonic plasma models.
Calibration Notes: Overall, calibration to D6500K was very easy with this TV. Though there are no white balance adjustments available on the menu without entering the service menu, the 50S2 calibrated so close to D65 from the start that it would have improved the TV inappreciably. We started our calibration from the custom setting in the Warm 2 color temperature position. The S2 series TV does not contain the THX picture setting option. Follow the following settings to calibrate to a nearly perfect D65. These picture settings are best viewed in a controlled light environment fairly dark room:

Contrast: +75
Color: +45
Tint: -2
Sharpness: +15
Color Mgmt: OFF

Black Level/Contrast: Black levels were an area that the S1 series needed a makeover on. They got it with this S2 series. These are not going to be the best black levels we see this year and we dont anticipate them coming close to some of the Samsung plasma black levels. However, Panasonic has brought black levels back into welcomed focus. Final ANSI contrast measurement was 1261:1 which is a nice improvement over last year but far from what we want. One of the TVs greatest strengths lies in its white brightness which measured an average luminance of 31.50. This result nears LCD TVs in brightness and points to Panasonic's desire to compete with LCD TVs in this area.
Dark Shadow Detail: Partly due to the high brightness of this plasma dark shadow detail is excellent. Panasonic plasma TVs have long been a favorite of ours in this important area.
Color Rendition/Color Accuracy: Color rendition is much more saturated with HD content. The TV excels with HD content and is much more subdued in presentation with lower signals. Colors can seem a little weak and hazy at times with lower end signals. I will give them the thumbs up on reality however.
Features: One of the key feature differences of the S2 series with the G20 series of plasma by Panasonic is the absense of The Viera Cast feature set, which enables online content via a web interface. As a result, there is also no Ethernet port. The included Viera Link feature allows the user to control other Viera link capable outboard equipment. Viera Image viewer is the Panasonic compatible technology which enables use of SD memory card viewing via the SD card slot.The S2 has discrete picture settings for each input as well as Panasonic's new "600 Hz" specification for blur reduction.
This TV is Energy Star compliant due to an energy saver feature option. Power consumption for the S2 has been reduced from the S1. This is one of the main feature differences aside from improved black levels. Panasonic started improving efficiency in their plasma TVs in 2007 and have improved it 400% with this S2 model. They are now close enough to LCDs in energy efficiency that is should not matter.

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this TV from Amazon and have been using it for about a week now. The picture is gorgeous out of my PC to the TV using a DVI to HDMI converter. Playing DVDs at 1080p is an amazing experience for me who is stepping up from a 27inch 720p set. There are loads of inputs to connect all your old equipment like a PS2 etc. You can send the audio out of the TV to your receiver using a single optical cable and this makes the clutter much less behind the receiver. The auto highlighting of the active inputs present on the TV makes it easy to know if the equipment you have connected is working or not.
The touch of color is an ok feature..just makes the TV look good and most of the times you need good lighting behind the TV to actually see the red color on the edges.
Is 120Hz worth it? Well right now it is not for the extra 200-300$ per set. I was thinking of getting the Sony Bravia with 120HZ but when I viewed the screen between these two i could not tell the difference.
Films and games mostly are shot/produced at 24-30 frames/sec...since this set has twice the sampling 60hz you should expect a pretty smooth frame rate and should not have any motion lag. 120hz samples at 4 times and will make it look even smoother..but you would need a giant screen to note the difference. at this size it is marginal so save your money and go with this Gem from Samsung.

Samsung PN58C550 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)Set up my unit on 5/21 which I bought from a brick/mortar store (sorry Amazon!), after researching the hell out of it. My equipment includes a WDTV Media Player (HDMI w/optical out), Nintendo Wii (analog), HD HTPC on the make, and Denon AVR-590(two optical audio inputs and three HDMI inputs).
PROS:
- NO BUZZING! YEAH!!
- Great picture out of the box - will be fine-tuning things later, but early indications are very positive. Several units had more features but PQ suffered. With so many blu-ray players and HTPCs that stream Netflix/Pandora, don't get lured in by feature-laden units that fail to deliver great PQ.
- Media Play - plug in any USB or HD into the unit to watch video, listen to music, and view pictures.
- Input panel is easy to access - swivel base is a real plus.
- The manual states that it can connect to a home network and "can access the Internet through your LAN connection" - this one might be interesting if I could get a third party wireless USB stick to work. So far, no success - I'll report back on this one.
CONS
- No memory card access - will attempt access with a card reader.
- Cannot tell unit to show subtitles only when muted - 7 different versions available, but none of them allow you to read subtitles when it's muted.
- Lack of widgets - I really wanted the web widgets, but wouldn't sacrifice PQ. With the new HD HPTC almost finished and running WMC 7, it will interesting to see if WMC will be enough.
- Sound effects and music sound great through Denon, yet dialogue is sometimes difficult to understand - I suspect that is due to my inability to read the language known as Denon and to configure it accordingly. Audio is being passed through the Denon with a single HMDI connection to the back of the Samsung.
Manufacturers like Sony and Samsung make way too many units. Once you choose a manufacturer or a set of features you cannot live without, eliminate as many inferior units as possible. Then, find where your top 3 prospects are sold and get full demos on each including use of the remote. This was the only way I was able to determine that the 550 would work.
