(More customer reviews)Ok let me start off by saying this TV is awesome, I bought it as a family gift for Christmas it's in a family room. It makes the room look so much bigger (should state we had a projection screen TV, it was huge) this TV is on the wall and positioned great. Enough about that, lets get down to why people read these reviews. The picture is great i don't have the high definition channels yet but I have a lot of Blu rays and from that aspect I couldn't ask for anything better. The picture is so clear you can see the pores in people's faces. The settings for the TV are good too, usually to get the best picture the TV has to be on vivid (that will burn out the the TV out really quick) that isn't the case here I have the TV on cinema and it's bright enough for me. The sound is OK it's loud but when I watch movies I like to think I'm in the movie, I bought surround sound and that fixed that problem. I buy everything Sony because the Bravia sync works great you don't have to program the remote it's all done for you as long as you hook it up through HDMI. Now the TV has tons of inputs no need to buy an input extender. It has four HDMI one VGA and two component inputs, (all the inputs are on the side of the TV for easy access except the two component inputs are on the back of the TV) which I hate because the TV is on the wall and there isn't anyway to get to them without taking the TV down, but if you don't plan to put the TV on the wall you won't have a problem. All in all the TV is a great buy I would highly recommend purchasing this item, The product is great and the price is very reasonable.
On a related note I would also recommend purchasing a warranty from square trade, The prices beat the store warranty buy at least sixty percent and no shipping your giant TV and waiting two weeks for it to be returned. They come to you and do all repairs in home for all TVs greater that thirty seven inches.

(More customer reviews)I just received my TV today. All I can say is: OH MY GOD! The picture is gorgeous. The sound is incredible. Setup was a breeze. The guys delivering it were nice and courteous. They set it up for me, and even offered to take the packaging away (I kept it in case there were problems).
I've read reviews that state there were screen problems, especially with rain or fog. I don't see it. No artifacts, no blurring, nothing. I think as long as it is setup correctly, the problems don't occur. There are a lot of settings, but the menus are clean and easy to understand.
I am a little hard of hearing. My old TV was cranked to the max, and I could just hear it. Not my new Sony! Even at 50% it is too loud even for me.
Just a note (in case someone else has this problem): I initially didn't have sound at first through the HDMI cable (and panicked a little). The problem was I had to configure my cable box audio setting specifically to HDMI. You'd think as an engineer, I would have known...
The picture is awesome with my Oppo up-scaling DVD player (I don't have a Blu-ray yet).
A nice touch: because of the multitude of connectors on the TV (and the compactness of HDMI's combined audio/video cables) I was able to get rid of a huge rat's nest of cables (coaxial, composite, S-video, and various combiner/splitters).
Update:
I've had the TV for a few weeks now, and still love it. I bought one of those DVD kits to calibrate the color, et. al., but all I had to do was change the color setting from "vivid" to "standard." The TV's settings were already spot on!
I've also noticed that the picture is much better if you turn off a lot of the "extra" settings that affect the picture, like the CineMotion. I have a set of PAL DVDs that looked all jerky. I turned this off and now they look great. My NTSC DVDs were OK most of the time, but certain scenes were jerky. They now look great, too. The Motion Enhancer seems to be best at "Standard."

(More customer reviews)I spent hours researching and comparing "LED" LCD TV's in the 55" size category. I finally narrowed it down to two "edge-lit" LED TV's (the Sony Bravia 55" EX710 and the Samsung 55" LED 6300 series) based on price/performance, overall image quality, image contrast, refreshing rates (for sports), ease of use and customer service.
I've owned both Sony and Samsung in the past and was satisfied in general with their performance and customer service so I felt comfortable with either TV from a reliability and customer service perspective.
In terms of image, watching the TV's side by side for well over 10 hours, I can say I could not distinguish between the two TV's. The shape of the Sony is a bit different (slightly taller and narrower) than the Samsung, giving you the impression that the Samsung is bigger, but it's not.
Both the Sony and Samsung TV's provide excellent color resolution and contrast, deep dark colors and vibrant lighter colors as well.
I did find the Samsung 6300 series tv image on "non-HD" tv programs to be slightly better than the Sony, but the difference was marginal.
As for sports, both have 120hz. and relatively fast refreshing rates, so sports viewing on either TV is excellent.
For ease of use and set up, I found the Sony 55" to be very good. Sony provides the user manual as an item on the TV menu instead of a written one, which may not be to everyone's liking. But then again, with it installed on the TV, you're never wondering "where the heck did I put that user manual!"
In the end, given the overall similarity in quality and performance between the Sony 55"EX710 and the Samsung 6300 series LED/LCD TV's, I boiled it down to price and that's where the Sony won out! I paid $1499 for the Sony while the best price I could find for the Samsung was $1750. I put the price savings towards a 5 year extended warranty for the Sony!

(More customer reviews)Just got this unit a couple days ago. First, setup was a breeze, menu driven and easy to follow. Took less than 5 minutes, including internet connectivity. If you have a Netflix account, the setup was also super easy. Follow the on screen instructions, register your set at Netflix and within seconds, your ready to stream. Your Qeue is onscreen and streaming starts quickly. Impressive list of other internet based video sites as well. Not to mention streaming music and pictures from the more popular photo sharing sites. I should mention that the set is connected hardwired to a router in my living room so I cannot comment on the wireless setup yet.
I connected my set to a Dish Network 922 VIP HD reciever and I have to say, the picture is excellent - maybe not perfect, but darn close. Colors are accurate, bright and the picture is sharp and smooth. 240 Hz makes a huge difference from 120 HZ or 60 Hz. You will be impressed.
Remote is simple and comfortable in your hand. The menu's are quick, responsive and easy to follow. Little need for the manual.
Good number of inputs for your sat/cable receiver, home theater, blue ray player and game system. Xbox looks amazing on this thing and I am sure a Playstation looks just as good.
3D - I did not purchase the 3D glasses and emitter, and I really wish Sony included them. That is my only complaint. I did try out the 3D functionality in the store watching a ESPN football game. While the 3D was fun and far better than I ever remember it being, with so little content out there now, I figured I would wait a while.
If you are looking for a entry level, 3D ready, quality LED-LCD TV, you cannot go wrong with the HX800. The price is right and you will be impressed by this set.

(More customer reviews)First off, I have had an 40" Samsung for 3 years and have been very pleased with it. It has a matte screen so that is what I was looking for. I really didn't want any glare so I actually was looking at LG's since they are one of few companies that make 50"+ lcds with matte screens. CNET reviewed the LG's with high marks as well so I was pretty much dead set on an LG.

So I went to Fry's, Bestbuy, HHgregg, and local TV shop just checking out the products. I definitely liked the pictures of the LG's. The colors are on par with the Samsungs and the washout from off angles is also better. But I couldn't get over the simple fact that the Samsungs just looked better. Every store I went to I was like yeah there's glare, but when the screen is fully lit you don't really see it, plus you know we all were used to CRT glass screens for years. The LG technically had deeper blacks, but in reality the matte refraction light made the screen seem more grayish and the glossy screens appeared to have deeper blacks due to clarity. Also, the clarity of the images in the Samsungs was noticeably better. Just one of those things you just see and say yeah that's better. For a final look, I brought my wife for her opinion and she point right to the Samsung as the better picture.
So as a matte finish fan and all the technical abilities of the LG's I had to go with the Samsung. Beyond the amazing picture the style is so much better. So thin, lighter, and the UN55c6500 has a great thin border, actually charcoal matte, with a nice clear trim. Looks so clean.
I've read where some people have said that the picture is so good that it almost looks 3d. I have to agree, playing some video games and bluray, the picture is so good it does almost look 3d.
I also got the wireless dongle (free with purchase) and it works quite easily. No issue thus far.
There definitely are reflections, but glare isn't really too bad. I also did see the rainbow effect from my ceiling lights, but only if in direct view. The motion plus still makes everything look soap opera, but being able to turn it down helps a lot. Samsung has more settings for this than LG's.
I am very pleased with this buy.
