(More customer reviews)When I bought my plasma TV a year ago, I never imagined that I would want to connect more than one HDMI device. That changed when I bought a DVD player with HDMI and the ability to upconvert DVD's to near HD quality. After first considering spending $400+ on a new receiver with dual HDMI ports, I opted to first try this device for about $65. Money saved. The device automatically switches between the cable and DVD inputs when I turn them on and I now can enjoy the much improved DVD video quality (I had been using composite video on the DVD player) that comes from HDMI. There is no change in the input quality from my cable box HDMI input. There was virutaly no setup involved. I simply unplugged my TV's existing HDMI connection from the cable box and plugged it into the output on the Terk box. Then I ran HDMI cables from the DVD and cable box to two of the three inputs on the Terk box and powered up. That was it. Rather than buy super costly HDMI cables, I purchased two HDMI cables from Abacus 24-7 (an Amazon contractor) at $6.99 each. They work like a charm. Since for audio I use a recevier rather than my TV speakers and my receiver is not HDMI capable, I have connected my receiver to the audio outputs of my cable box and DVD player using digital fiber optical cable and get all the capability of surround sound that I could want. Those optical cables are $5.99 each from Abacus (I found them for $12.99 to $25.99 at Fry's Electronics).
Update as of May 11, 2007. Still working like a charm. I haven't had to do anything to the unit and I basically forget it is there.
Update as of June 13, 2007. I now use my computer as a digital recording device, like a TIVO-type box. I record HDTV over the air using a Terk HDTV antenna and a Hauppauge HDTV capture card. My computer graphics card has a DVI output, so I bought a DVI to HDMI converter cable ($12 at Amazon) which connects my computer to one of the HDMI source inputs on the Terk HDMI-31 Switch. It operates flawlessly. Another reason to have Terk's multiple HDMI connection capability.

(More customer reviews)This is our fourth HD big screen. We have a Panny 37" circa 2005 and two new 2010 Sony 46" Bravia w motion control. We picked up this set for a second home in Florida.
Pros: Excellent picture at 480, 720, 1080 w Comcast. Lots of brightness in a sunny room. Although it has a gloss screen, reflections don't seem to be the problem I was expecting. Very thin profile. Simple menus and sets up easy. Three HDMI inputs are a plus. Swivel is nice. TV allows viewing from very steep side angles, best of all our sets. The blacks are VERY black, also the best of all our sets. The price is AMAZING at Costco! Audio is great for me at 10 feet and I have hearing issues.
Cons: Haven't found any yet although I have not used it for on line games, a game box, bluray or SD card. My standard DVD movie looked great.
I am sitting here watching college football in HD. There are no compression problems. The ball spirals are perfect and the receiver routes in slow mo and full speed are clear wo rasterization problems. My 2005 Panny stinks at this so I do know what really bad technology and pictures are like.
CATS is the auto brightness control that you can set in the picture menu. It works great if you adjust the brightness and color settings in a darker room first. Then during brighter daytime settings the picture will be great. The other way will leave you disappointed or frustrated but there is no need to turn CATS off.
Another nice feature is the auto selection of the picture mode and screen fill. Works great for us. If there was a way to grade this a five star ++, we would. A great value buy!!

(More customer reviews)Installation was easy enough and the lamp seems to work fine. But I have noticed that it takes much longer to warm up to full brightness when compared to the original lamp that came with the TV.
The other thing that really annoys me is that the ad and product description on Amazon site seemed to indicate that the lamp was made by Philips. This is the ONLY reason I bought it. But in fact, the lamp seems to be an aftermarket product from China. There are no markings on it to indicate where it is made or a brand name.I am really concerned that this lamp is going to die just past the warranty period.
Anyway, clearly I need to be far more wary about things I buy from Amazon Marketplace. I am not pleased with this deceptive tactic in the least.
22-Nov-10 Update:
The Lamp BLEW UP!. Glass shattered! Smell of burning capacitor. The whole works. THis thing is a fire hazard. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FROM THIS VENDOR!!

(More customer reviews)This display is excellent! Not only can I hook up my Macbook Pro, but I can also have my 360 plugged in at the same time for 1080p gaming glory! Color and contrast are great in my opinion, and I love the fact that I can adjust it however I need to, so when I slouch I can still see the screen. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the touch controls that everyone else mentions. They are impossible to see without direct light, however, once you get the settings right, it's easy to memorize where the power and volume buttons are. Great display at a great price!
