(More customer reviews)Let me start off by saying that this is my 4th Westinghouse TV(monitor). I've spent this last year replacing all of the CRTs in my house with flat panels (as opposed to "flat screens" which usually indicates bulky CRT/tube TVs). The logic was, I wanted to get rid of the weight and the bulkiness of the CRTs and I definitely wanted to upgrade to the High Definition picture and connections. I researched for about 6 months before deciding on the Westinghouse brand. There are several equal or better brands but some of them are twice the cost of the comparable Westinghouse and I am more of a bargain hunter. Okay, I'm thrifty.
I bought my first 37" Westinghouse (an LVM37w1) in January of 2006. I had heard of the Westinghouse brand, but it was only based on alarm clocks and other appliances that we had around the house as kids. I was spending over a $1,000 on this first purchase, so I crossed my fingers AND purchased the 4-year replacement warranty. Overall, I was ecstatic with the first TV. My only complaint was of a peripheral nature, the LVM37w1 is a monitor, not an actual HDTV(television with tuner) so I had to go out and purchase a separate used HDTV tuner(for ~$75 off Craig's list) in order to watch Hi-definition television.
I was so happy with the first Westinghouse TV, in June 2006, I bought my second one, a 32" HDTV (with an HD tuner built in). Again, I crossed my fingers and paid extra for the 4-year extended warranty.
This October, 2006, very happy with my previous purchases, I went ahead and completed my LCD flat panel for CRT swap around the house by buying one 42" Westinghouse LCD HDTV monitor (the LVM42w2) and one 37" Westinghouse LCD HDTV monitor (the LVM37w3). I didn't buy the 4-year extended warranties this time because I feel like the 1-year factory warranty is good enough. If you're going to have problems with your LCD, like dead pixels, it's invariably right out of the box. Thru my research, I've learned that pixels will rarely, rarely die out two or three years later.
I moved the original 37" LVM37w1 into my home office and hooked it up to my computer. I was able to instantly get the phenomonal 1920x1080 resolution using a cheapo $5.00 VGA/VGA cable. Some of my friends thought the monitor would be too large but trust me, once you work on your computer with a 37" monitor with a crystal clear picture, you will NEVER go back to a little 19" or 20". For example, this review I am writing is overly long but I can see the entire review on my 37" monitor in huge, perfectly defined 1/4" high text. It's wonderful.
So now I have experience with FOUR Westinghouse monitors (from 1-1/2 months up to 11 months) serving as computer monitors, televisions (with separately purchased HDTV tuners) and DVD monitors for movie night ... and I couldn't be happier with my choice of monitors. (NOTE: make sure you use an UP-CONVERSION DVD player as opposed to just a progressive scan. It makes your DVDs look fantastic and converts them to 1080i).
I think the moral of the story is:
- Buy from a reputable source. That way you can return them if necessary.
- I bought local. The stores I bought from gave me a 14-day return policy if I noticed any dead pixels. They claimed that the # of pixels had to be grouped in 10 or more, but their policy allowed a universal return, meaning even if I didn't like the color of the outer bezel, I could return the set. Therefore, if I had even noticed ONE dead pixel, I would have returned the set and stated that I didn't like the color of the bezel!
-NOTE: Out of my four monitors, three are 1080p(meaning 1920x1080 resolution) and one is 720p (meaning 1320x768 resolution). That means that I had over 7 MILLION pixels that could have been "dead" (meaning that the pixel was locked in on one color --- typically blacked out) and yet, after scouring all four sets, I never found a single dead pixel. The easiest way to check for dead pixels is to hook it up to your computer and run it thru its paces as opposed to trying to located them off a paused DVD or TV screen.

(More customer reviews)I purchased a 32" flat panel LCD HDTV for our bedroom and wanted to wall mount it to get it off the floor and take advantage of it's thin profile. The problem was finding decent mounting systems at our local "Big Box" electronic stores. Not to mention the high price. After a lengthy Internet search, I settled on this brand and model. We wanted to be able to move our TV to different positions (while still being fixed mounted on the wall) so we could watch it from various points in our bedroom (from the bed, from a sitting area, from the bathroom, etc). Most of the mounts I found on the Internet cost a fortune and did little more than tilt your TV up and down. This Peerless arm does so much more. It swings, swivels, and tilts to virtually any viewing angle you can imagine or need. Plus the mounting plate will fit virtually any LCD or plasma model. I suggest visiting the Peerless web site for specific information regarding compatibility with your TV brand and model.
Prices for this item were all over the board during my Internet research. I would discourage you from shopping at the lowest price sources listed at Amazon.com. I went through the long ordering process with Beach Audio.com only to find out (at the last ordering screen) that their shipping and handling costs were about twice the cost of the arm! What a deceiving rip-off. Instead, I purchased the arm through [...]. This web site has a bounty of useful information about TV and monitor mounting options. I highly recommend a look here for information, even if you don't buy from them.
I received the mount via UPS in about five days (the $9.99 shipping and handling was much more reasonable than other places). I am a "do it yourselfer" and found the installation to be easy. I think if you are even a bit mechanically inclined and have basic tools you won't have much trouble installing the unit. Find a wall stud, mark the location of the arm on the wall, drill two pilot holes into the stud, screw the arm into the wall stud with two large wood screws and screw the TV into the arm's support plate. Even if you mount the arm a bit crooked, you can still level the TV with one of the arm's adjustment screws. I highly recommend having two or more people available to help hold the TV in place while attaching it to the support arm plate.
I am very, very pleased with this articulating arm. It looks great, only sticks out about 3 inches from the wall, it has a neat system for hiding the power cord and cable wires from view, and it can be adjusted effortlessly to an infinite number of viewing angles. I was a bit leery of placing a $1000+ TV investment on a wall mount, but this unit is surprisingly strong. Even though the TV weighs a lot, the arm moves it around with very little effort.
If you are looking for a wall mounted articulating arm with lots of flexibility for TV viewing angles, this is a great, ingenious product.

(More customer reviews)So I bought this from Circuit City a month ago and I am so plaesed with this TV. It is replacing my old college TV (27" Zenith) and it is a night & day difference. Movies look awesome, it's so cool to watch widescreen movies without any letterbox - just clear picture from corner to corner.
I also have an xbox360 and the games look gorgeous on the screen. It really makes it a more enjoyable experience.
As for the components built in: HDTV tuner, 2 hdmi, 2 component, and analog as well. It comes with a stand which I use since my TV is in the corner of the room. Also comes with a mounting set up.
Cons:
There is a chance for burn-in, so you really have to be careful with turning the TV off when you leave & so on. That said, burn-in seems to go away if you don't leave the TV on for hours. For example, I was watching the Wolrd Cup on HD and for the rest of the day I had a little trace of the ABC logo and the scorecard. Nothing outrageous, but it is something you need to be careful about.Overall, I think this is one of the better entertainment purchases I've made in a while. If you enjoy movies, HBO documentaries, etc you will be thrilled with the quality of this TV.

Sharp Aquos LC37D62U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I picked up this television almost two weeks ago. After tweaking the color and contrast settings, the picture quality is phenomenal. Fortunately my set does not suffer from the banding issues that its larger brethren (42"/46"/52") suffered. Overall it's a great tv. Now for a few minor negatives. There is only on RF input (coaxial cable) for the ATSC over the air antenna (OTA), QAM, and analog cable. In previous models there were separate inputs for each. Therefore, you could receive OTA programming, analog cable, as well as any unscrambled digital cable channels that your cable company provides. For most this is not a problem, but I like redundancy , and would prefer to be able to receive all three. With this set you can either have an OTA antenna or cable, not both. The other negative would be the lack of digital inputs. This model has only 2 HDMI inputs. Its predecessor, the 37D90U had a DVI input and 2 HDMI inputs. For most this is not an issue, but I have a media center PC that I hook up to the tv as well as other digital devices such as an upconverting DVD player. Aside from these two minor issues, this television really is an excellent buy. I would however recommend that you but it locally (sorry Amazon) and have the store take it out of the box, turn it on, and have them either hook up a dvd player with a color calibration DVD or tune it to a channel with a light colored background to make sure it has neither dead nor stuck pixels nor any visible bands. Believe me, you do not want to suffer through having to return a large tv because there are banding issues. For more on what banding is, google the lc-46d62u model on the AVS forum and read all of the horror stories that many have dealt with. I would highly recommend this television, but everyone has different needs and you should always do a thorough investigation of what set would best suit your situation. (More customer reviews)This TV is 120Hz...the info contained in the review about 60Hz is incorrect. I bought this TV elsewhere on Black Friday and cannot be more pleased with the image and overall quality of this LG. This television litterally makes almost everything you watch on it appear to be happening right in front of you. I original bought 4 other televisions on BF (a 26" Vizio LED, a Toshiba 40" LCD and a Samsung 46" LCD) and this had the best picture quality of them all...so much so that I returned the other two larger TVs. The Toshiba had a brighter picture but couldn't match the "right there" look of the LG. The Samsung had a nice picture quality but the backlight couldn't bring up the details as well as the LG in darker scenes, but overall it had an excellent picture. In the end though the LG won based on the eveness of the color. So to summarize...2 of these LGs and a 26" Vizio LED later (ironically the LG remote works for this TV and vice versa - LG probably makes the panel and tuner for Vizio)...I couldn't be happier!

Vizio VO370M 37" LCD TV 1080p HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I'm editing this review on January 12, 2010. I originally gave this TV a 4 star review, although it's very slow on startup. I figured, for the price I could live with that, because the picture quality was good, and I had no other problems with the set.
Well, that's over. I'm glad I haven't discarded the box this TV came in. This morning, it earned itself a return trip to Costco. After a few minutes of use, the picture fades to black! Audio continues, and I've checked that this is not a malfunction of the cable box, but of the TV. The picture returns either (a) on its own after a few minutes, or (b) when I hit the "guide" button on the TV remote. Thank goodness for Costco's reasonable return policies. I certainly got a dud. Slow at startup, I could live with. But not spontaneous "fade to black and then return to life" picture!
I will still consider buying a Vizio, as I've had great performance for more than a year, from another model VIzio LCD HDTV, and it's been a reliable brand for friends of mine for longer than that. But I'm certainly going to continue my habit of not tossing out the box right after buying a big ticket electronic item!

Quick Cons:
LG Customer Service Mediocre at best! Set Up lousy considering NO Printed ManualFirst Off.... OneCall is awesome! Best Price (and I searched all authorized dealers I could find at the time) Most Friendly sales staff. Customer service even responded by email long after hours!!! Please NOTE: OneCall IS LISTED as "more buying choices" on Amazon.
Now on to the TV: Television arrived.
CONS:
Unboxed, hooked up all cables... then with the side button I tried to turn it on.. no such luck... I then tried the remote... no good there either. Figured I had a DOA set.. I searched for a manual... none found.. just a CD of a manual. Problem was:
1. This was a gift...person getting gift has no computer, therefore no way to view CD.
2. I was nearly 56 miles round trip to my house to have access to a computer to print up manual from CD.
3. Quick Start booklet was included with indications of all connections EXCEPT location of the power switch!!! The "standby" switch on the side of the television is NOT the power switch.
I found this switch accidentally after disconnecting all the cables to return the TV set... I reached under the set and felt something "click" What do you know.. a rocker master power switch.... You know.. the one NOT listed in the quick start booklet or indicated by an international symbol or words on the front of the set indicating it's location. (I had two others read through the few pages of the quick start booklet to see if I missed it)
After turning it on... and pressing the "standby" switch.. I was able to start the setup...
4. After driving home.. I brought the CD Manual with me..... and guess what! CD would not read on any of my three computers. Being that this was a Friday night... It was Monday before I could get a hold of LG. They offered to send me a manual... Cool... why didn't they just include one in the tv box??? IT WAS THE END OF THE WEEK BEFORE I GOT IT! AND... It was not bound!!! I had to punch my own holes in a thick manual (it was obviously printed from a laser printer) and buy an empty three ring binder and put it together. I also guess priority mail isn't necessary to fix a screw up on one of their top of the line TV sets. They never did replace the CD. It was another week before I could drive it down to the owner of the TV set. I am sure that the idea behind the CD was to save trees... Well I burned lots of fuel to fix this issue at least 112 miles! GEESH! Remember this... If you don't have a computer, OR a DVD player connected to another TV to review the manual, OR have a printer if you wanted a printed copy... you are &$%#$ out of luck!
5. I left a longer review than this on LG's website and even said I was going to buy more of these TV sets... and they never posted my review!!! I contacted LG THREE TIMES by email and called!!! I NEVER got a response from them that wasn't a CANNED response ....
SO: No Manual Included (except CD which didn't work), Quick Start booklet needs switch placement listed, (including listing it in the troubleshooting guide in the back!!!). NO printed manual on a TV in this price range is not excusable!!! LG customer service and response needs improved, AND LG needs to not cherry pick reviews for their website. A person needs to come to a website like this that usually publishes all reviews.
PRO'S:::
1. Most LCD/Plasma sets for sale have lousy sound... let's face it... no need to subtract stars or ratings for this generally because to make the TV look decent.. you got to use some small speakers... want good sound? .... Then get a home theater speaker system setup... EXCEPT this LG!!! Awesome sound for a modern set..... For something this size... I consider the sound OUTSTANDING compared to its competition, and far beyond my expectations. Biggest surprise I had outside of the printed manual incident.
2. PLENTY of inputs for a 37" TV including VGA hookup for a computer with a mini jack input for the audio ... Although I haven't tried this VGA/Audio input... it's nice to see it included. There isn't a DVI input.. but you can get a HDMI to DVI gender changer for a few bucks if you need to go that route online.
3. The 240hz refresh rate is state of the art! I also noticed no backlight bleed through. Backlight bleed is common on LCD's to some degree.
4. Black level and contrast is best I have seen for a non LED LCD. Black level isn't even close to my plasma's.. but best I have seen in an LCD to date. It's too bad that Plasma's don't exist in sizes below 42".
5. Since this TV set was a gift.. I haven't got to use the remote control much... but seemed pretty intuitive as I was setting up the TV to work for the first time.
6. I am thinking about purchasing more of these TV's... we will see... For a 37" non LED tv.... I really don't think you can do better than this. (At the time of this review)... Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, JVC, Mitsubishi, Magnavox, Visio, nor Toshiba... has a 37" that is this "state of the art" at a bargain price!!! Highly Recommended!
So why not 5 stars??? Because of over 112 miles (or more) of useless driving to solve the manual problem. LG "review shopping" by not posting my review (which was pretty glowing except the manual issue) and not responding adequately to my emails or phone calls. Making a trip to the office supply store to buy a three ring binder for the manual.
When you give a gift at this price... it would be nice to not be slightly embarrassed by stupid issues. The person I got this for has no clue how to even shop for an LCD or the time I put in to find this particular TV. So it kind of leaves the impression that I got a cheapo TV for them.. It just wasn't the case. LG needs a spanking! Now.. go buy the TV! :-)

Crutchfield has been in business since 1974, and I have spent many thousands with them... they are a great crew, not the cheapest price, but the best customer service your going to get at a fair price, and sometimes if you have problems with a product, it then becomes the best money you ever spent.

(More customer reviews)I received my tv with a damaged panel. Thankfully, Samsung provides free in-home repair for their products through their authorized repair agents. It was a good experience, relatively hassle free, and now the TV looks as good as it should have to begin with. It has all of the basic functions that you'd look for, including 2 HDMI and 2 component inputs, and a host of picture settings. The sound is fine but not thrilling, and chances are it's a bedroom tv (my situation) or you have a surround sound hookup through the digital audio out. I am very pleased with the depth of the blacks, as at 8,000:1 the contrast ratio is as high as many plasmas were just a year ago. The color accuracy is quite good (once you do some calibration to your tastes) and the dedicated brightness setting helps you customize it to the brightness of the room you are in. I haven't noticed any false conturing nor any motion blur, as the refresh rate is also good. Though maxing out at 1080i/720p, at this size the extra dollars for 1080p are really wasted. Save your money there and get a 19-in LCD for the kitchen! My simple, yet favorite, feature is the input recognition. No cycling through all possible inputs to get to the one you want; only active inputs come up when cycling through your sources. Nothing really negative to say... other than the lag between turning on the set and getting a picture, but that is a common LCD trait. The TV's design is attractive, has all of the features you really need, and was a really reasonable price (thank you Lightning Deals!). I recommend it.

Samsung LN37A450 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this TV for my bedroom. It is my third Samsung, but my first LCD. The other two that I have are both plasmas, the HPT5064 and FPT5084. I think that this is a great TV if you only care about 720p (which is all you need in a bedroom.) If you are on a $1000 budget or this is a secondary TV, I can't think of why you need more than 720p right now. This will absolutely change in the future, of that I have no doubt.
The TV comes in a great package - very clean lines, not a huge bezel, the Samsung piano-black finish that you either love or hate (I love). This TV doesn't have the flat touch buttons of the 5084, but that is a much higher-end TV I guess. The LCD panel is not as matte as some that I have seen. It outputs a great picture out of the box, with minimal tweaking (though I am sure that you can teak it to your heart's content).
It is a relatively light TV at ~45 pounds, so can easily be carried upstairs by one person. Sound quality is surprisingly good for a flat panel, though that is a relative measurement. The speakers face down on the bottom of the TV. Picture quality is bright, excellent contrast ratio (almost as high as the plasmas). The TV doesn't have the glowing blue lights on the front that the other Samsung's I own have, guess that was just a fad. The design is definitely a cross between the somewhat clunky 5064 and the more elegant 5084.
Standard def output is as good as you can expect, but in 2008 you can really spend 80% of your time watching HD content unless you have a few offbeat or retro shows that you like. I have this TV hooked up to a DirecTV H20 DVR and it works like a charm. I output the native mode signal and the TV handles 720p or 1080i in very well. I don't have an Xbox or PS3 on this TV, but I can guess that they would look great based on the overall performance I have seen so far.
I have ordered a Peerless wall mount for the TV, apparently it is in the gray area between 32 and 40" TV's and it falls into the higher side of that range as far as what size mounting bracket you need. In other words, look in the manual of the TV and look at the detailed specs of the mounting bracket before you pull the trigger to make sure that they adhere to the same standard mounting bracket size.
This is a great TV at a great price and I highly recommend it for those in the market for great mid-size HDTV who don't feel a compelling urge to get 1080p. If I have problems I will update them here.

I comparison shopped for several months, and found that the Samsung is on equal footing as the Sony Bravia XBR-Series KDL-37XBR6 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV and Sharp Aquos LC37D64U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV models in performance, but (at the time) was more affordable than either. Here's an in-depth run-down of the top-of-the line models from each of those three brands using MY comparison criteria. Hopefully it helps you.
Price
These are prices from Amazon.com (not their "marketplace partners" or whatever they're called). I'd recommend purchasing from Amazon itself, as they offer the free "white-glove" delivery, which means that the delivery company will bring the TV into your house, unpack it, and haul away the packing materials. My TV was delivered 3 days after I ordered it, and many others who reviewed on this site have had the same experience.
Also, keep in mind Amazon's financing offers if you open an Amazon.com credit account - see below for more details.
Samsung LN37A550: Retail is $1200. I've watched Amazon's price fluctuate between $1040 and $1200. Today the price is $1064, which is as good as I've seen. In addition, Samsung TVs often have financing deals - mine was 1-year, no payments and no-interest financing, and I've also seen 18-month specials.
Sharp LC37D64U: Retail is $1400, and the fact that it was selling for about $1350 a month ago strongly influenced my decision. Today the price is $1016, which may have changed my purchase based solely on the size (Sharp is slightly narrower - see below - and the Samsung is a REALLY tight squeeze in my space). I have not seen ANY financing deals on Sharp TVs through Amazon - pay it all up front.
Sony KDL-37XBR6: Retail is $1500. Today's price on Amazon is $1400 - a major consideration (about $350 price difference), but there's also a 36 (read it again, 36) month no interest offer on this TV right now. Minimum monthly payments are required.
Contrast Ratio, Response Time, and Frame Refresh Rate
Keep in mind that different manufacturers use different methods to measure these specifications, so they can not be simply compared using numbers. All I can say is that I viewed them in a couple of different retail locations, and there is little difference in picture brightness / blurring between these models. All are capable of 1080p picture.
Samsung: 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 5 ms response time. 60 hZ refresh rate.
Sharp: 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 6 ms response time. 60 hZ refresh rate.
Sony: 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and unpublished response time. 120 hZ refresh rate. The refresh rate is where the Sony has an advantage over the others. I'm not going to get into it here, but here's a great article from CircuitCity.com explaining refresh rate in clear, simple terms (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/cat/-12869/edOid/208448/rpem/ccd/lookLearn.do). All I'll say is that, in-store with a BluRay disc, the 120 hZ setting on a 46" screen looked AWESOME. Some have complained that it produces a "soap-opera" effect. Not being a big fan of soap-operas, I have no idea what they are referring to. Personally, I don't think it's enough of a reason to spend the extra $300+, because of screen size. With a bigger 50"+ screen, your eye will catch blurring across the screen, but on a screen of this size I have never noticed any blurring with my 60 hZ model.
High-Def Inputs
These all have the HD connections below, along with Digital Audio outputs, and other (S-video and composite video, and stereo audio) inputs.
Samsung: 3 version 1.3 (latest) HDMI Inputs (2 in rear, 1 on side), 1 USB input (for viewing JPGs and listening to MP3s), 1 PC input, and 2 component video inputs.
Sharp: 2 HDMI Inputs (Amazon and Sharp's website don't say they are version 1.3, which is supposedly faster and therefore better quality), 1 PC input, and 2 component video inputs. Also has side inputs.
Sony: 4 HDMI Inputs (3 in rear, 1 on side; again, Amazon and Sony don't say version 1.3, but I would think it's GOT to be..... don't know why they wouldn't publish this, though), 1 PC input, and 2 component video inputs.
Sound
Most reviews I have read complain about the Samsung's sound quality (most common in complaint is that the speakers sound "tinny"). I turned off the speakers before I ever hooked the TV up to an input (I've got a surround sound system), so I can't speak to this. I bought the TV for the picture, not the sound, but if that's important to you, read other reviews. I've read a couple of complaints about the Sharp model, but they didn't seem quite so angry as the complaints regarding Samsung, so I'm guessing it's acceptable sound.
Size
Size can be a consideration for many in purchasing a TV of this size. I was space constrained only in width. If you've got space constraints and 37" in width, you might also consider the Toshiba REGZA 40RF350U Super Narrow 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Super Narrow Bezel, which measures just 36.77" wide. I have not seen it in action, so I can't speak to it's performance, but other Toshiba LCDs that I HAVE seen did not compare to these 3 TVs in picture quality.
Samsung: 36.1 inches wide and 40 pounds with stand (32 pounds without)
Sharp: 35 and 23/64" wide (yes, some people really squeeze that tight) and 45 pounds with stand (39 without)
Sony: 36.3 inches wide and 47 pounds with stand (40 without)
Warranty
All of these TVs have 1 year parts / 1 year labor manufacturer warranties.
Additional features:
Each brand offers their own graphics processing engine that claims to be the greatest thing ever, as well as other features. One interesting feature which is really more of a marketing ploy is connecting other devices made by the same brand to this TV and just being able to use the TV's remote to control that device. For example, buy a Sony TV and a Sony Blu-Ray player, and you can control the Blu-Ray player without reprogramming your remote. Good if you don't want to buy a Universal Remote, but I see it more as a way to get you to buy more components from that brand. Your choice!
So there you have it. I can say with a lot of certainty that you will be pleased with any of these three models, and it's more a matter of preference for a certain brand, pricing sensitivity, and the sound issue that you have to make up your mind. As for me, I couldn't be happier with my Samsung purchase.

We have basic cable with what we thought were only a few channels available but, when we plugged the Vizio in, it automatically scanned for veiwable channels and now we have about 10 more channels than we had before. If your looking for a good looking, affordable, easy to use TV, this is it! The menus are pretty easy to use and actually make sense. Also, in most menus there is a reset option in case you get lost and can't remember what you changed. We also have the Bose 321 system with HDMI (wich looks amazing) and Roku (netflix) with HDMI and pretty soon the PS3 with HDMI. It just so happens there are 3 conveniantly placed HDMI inputs on the TV. Hands down, one of the best decisions I've made in a while

(More customer reviews)Owned for three months now and I have no complaints...well it does get very dusty!
1st off - there is no buzz on my TV at all. When the set is mute or low I hear nothing at all. People say the sound sucks and even though it's not mind blowing I use the set speaker more than the surround sound system. To me the TV sound is quite fine and no worst or better than any old school TV we use to own. Why do I use the TV speaker so much? Simple. When people are trying to talk in the room, the phone rings, the kids are playing in the room or in bed, etc. the surround sound is often too much. Simply put the TV speakers are quite fine and should satisfy anyone but a audio snob. The TV is very loud once you pass 1/4 of the sound range (#25)...so you will always be able to hear it.
Playstation 3 and BlueRay looks amazing on this TV. With the Playstation 3 the wireless internet was simple to hook up and works without a glitch. It was easier to get running than the Wii internet.
We have comcast cable and the remote controls the TV, cable box and Surround Sound easily. With a standard Comcast remote I can do just about everything you need to do like switch from TV to the Playstation 3, control the Surround Sound, etc. Just push the "TV" button on the Comcast remote and hit the "Info", "Menu" or "TV/VCR" buttons to see what you can do. There are others too, just experiment. This makes switching any setting on the TV simple and with one remote.
As far as glare goes I have the same amount on this TV as my old CRT TV. I do close the shades or curtains at times and it's no big deal.
Ok so I found one thing to complain about - when you hit mute a little icon appears on the TV screen to let you know and it doesn't go away. To solve this I usually just lower the sound to zero. Problem solved.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit because I have a space in a cabinet that's less than 36" wide and this is one of the few 37" TVs that will fit. There are some problems which I find annoying but some people may not notice or care about. Sometimes there the audio and video are not in sync. The audio leads the video by a fraction of a second. It happens about 20% of the time. Sometimes the set reboots itself, going black and then displaying the VISIO logo before restoring the picture. This is very infrequent, but it does happen occasionally. The response to the remote in some cases is slow. For example, unmuting takes a significant fraction of a second. There are other less bothersome issues too. I called VISIO tech support and they said they weren't familiar with these problems and had me do a full reset which had no effect. I exchanged the unit I bought for a second and it had the same problems. Then I read a review by someone else complaining about the same problems (and others). The set has great specs and the picture seems to be just fine and that's most important. I would really prefer to replace this unit with another brand, but there are no reasonably priced 37" sets on the market at this time that will fit.
Update (1/18/11): I ended up getting the Samsung LN37C530 (one of the few others that fits in my cabinet). I ended up spending about $600 for a TV that's only 60Hz and would not have done that if I didn't have to. The Samsung has none of the sync or volume issues that the VISIO did with the exact same inputs.
Some other observations: one gripe I had with the VISIO was slow tuning on broadcast signals. The Samsung tunes much faster, but the VISIO was able to do a better job of locking on to weak signals. I surf a lot, so prefer faster tuning. I had to tweak the Samsung picture to get it to my liking and I don't think it's as good as the VISIO (not a refresh issue; I can't say I notice that). One big advantage of the Samsung is that it creates a program guide from the broadcast signals that's very handy. In sum, I could not live with the VISIO issues and am definitely happier with the Samsung despite its higher cost, lower specs, and its own quirks.

(More customer reviews)I had VERY high hopes for this TV...i bought it from Amazon and the first TV was shipped with prime (UPS delivered) and the box top was opened when I received the unit. It appeared it had been a return, as the inside styrofoam was somewhat broken up...but this review is about the TV, not the delivery service. Picture Quality was not good, and I realized I had a received non-IPS panel (check the AVS forum on it or google "le5300 panel lottery")...it turns out that LG uses both IPS and non-IPS panels in their models below 42". Now I've seen people on here get the IPS panel in this 37LE5300...but I wasn't so lucky. The large, white sticker on the box read 37LE5300-ASUDxxx...which means the unit was a non-IPS model. Had the sticker read ASUWxxx...it would have been an IPS panel...which is a top of the line screen. I returned the TV (amazon customer service was top-notch) and they overnighted me a replacement unit.
Turns out the replacement unit was another AUSDxxx model and we refused the delivery...I don't want a crappy version of an amazing TV, that's not what I paid my money for. I'm very pleased with Amazon's amazing customer service though, but I'm extremely disappointed with LG and the way they conduct business. It's a crapshoot if you order online, I realize that now, but you couldn't beat the price at $699.00 with free two day shipping. Now the TV is at $[...] but it doesn't make sense for me to buy it, knowing I've already lost the panel lottery TWICE. I'm really disappointed with my experience, but I know Amazon is not to blame here, just the TV and their company. I'm happy for those customers who received the IPS panel, because they actually got what they were supposed to be paying for.

- Touch of color really is only a "touch". Without light shining directly on it the frame looks completely black
- Sound quality is poor. The right speaker has a tendency to ring at certain frequency even at low volume.
Picture quality is excellent; the TV set is not too heavy and looks good.
Please note that amazon ships this product via "Pilot" freight services. They will call you 24 hours before delivery is due to set up a time window for delivery. Shipping time was significantly faster than quoted during checkout.

(More customer reviews)When I read some of the other reviews here and elsewhere, I see that their expectations for this TV were a little unrealistic when it comes to using it as a computer screen. Before I bought it through Sam's for $698 (deal is off now, but probably will be back for Christmas), I researched it completely. The Internet Apps right now are OK, but more will come that will be exciting in the future through automatically downloaded firmware updates. I was told by Vizio that eventually, it probably will have the capability to Wi-Fi what is on your computer screen to this TV. But, as for now, I'm very happy with the picture quality and size of this TV, as I watch it from a 10 to 15 foot distance away. Like someone else said, it is not too big, and not too small. When I watch HD Theatre channel's travel/nature shows, the picture quality is close to a Blue Ray's quality, IMO.
Oh, the lower amount of heat that comes off, and the less electricity use than my 2 1/2 year old Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S3000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV that went bad, are great buyer benefits! Sony wanted me to take that tv to an authorized Sony repair shop and pay $50 to find out why the picture went out with no guarantees that they would pay for parts and/or labor to fix it. I thought it was throwing good money after the bad $900 that I had paid for the TV. So, on my new 37 inch Vizio, I bought Sam's 3 extra year extended warranty for $79.96 after reading the "fine print". No extended warranty is perfect, but Sam's was the least offensive, IMO.
