This keyboard stopped working in less than 1 month after I received it. I tried to return it or contact the seller but after an hour of going around & around on Amazon's website, I could not make any headway. When I tried to view my recent purchses, the website states that there aren't any since 2008. - ? Then I got an email to rate this product that stated it ws purchased on 10/06/2010. - ? I don't really know if I am more disgusted with a keyboard that quit working in less than a month or with Amazon's confusing website.

This HDTV is amazing. My games and movies look so crisp on it. It's a good television for your room, or even family room. It's not overwhelmingly big, so it's nice for your bedroom. It's got 2 component video hookups in the back. It also has about 3 composite hookups and a DVI hookup as well. Amazing television.

Samsung's sleek, Premiere Series TXN2670WHF offers everything from high-definition resolution (1080i/480p) to a multitude of inputs and picture enhancements for a detailed, high-contrast picture. The set's widescreen display is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies, and front-panel control keys let you access TV menu settings without having to use the supplied remote control. For the screen, Samsung's proprietary DynaFlat technology delivers a perfectly flat viewing surface with none of the curvature, image distortion, or detrimental glare that accompany traditional TV screens. Hook the set up with any DTV set-top box or progressive-scan DVD player to take full advantage of its high resolution and picture-enhancing technologies. This particular 800-line screen brings higher resolution than that achieved by earlier-generation sets because the individual phosphor color spots (or pixels) are smaller and closer together in this configuration. The set's multiple-focus electron gun illuminates finer spots for a more detailed picture, edge-to-edge, and it's assisted in this job by a three-line digital comb filter and velocity-scan modulation circuitry.Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.Another set of image improvements is wrapped into Samsung's Pro Picture three-stage video correction: Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing), Pro Chip Plus (converts all interlaced analog signals to superior, flicker-free progressive scan images), and the above-mentioned three-line digital comb filter (which analyzes multiple lines of picture information to better minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail).A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. The TXN2670WHF performs 3:2 pulldown detection, a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.Connections include a component-video input, an S-video input, a trio of composite-video inputs (with accompanying stereo analog RCA audio inputs), an RF input (for VCR or cable box), and a set of audio/video outputs for feeding a DVR or VCR. Convenient side-panel audio/video inputs foster hookups with camcorders and gaming consoles while preserving the set's uncluttered silver front panel.A zoom screen-filling option lets you customize the view of letter-boxed DVDs from the supplied remote control, while screen-capture picture freezing lets you view still images, even with broadcast television. Convenient side-panel buttons let you configure the set and access its menus without having to use the remote. The TXN2670WHF's 15 watts per channel (x 2) ensures sonic clarity and an ability to play loudly. Several sound modes offer dynamic audio settings for whatever you're watching; choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom. Surround-sound mode simulates an exciting surround effect from any two speakers, and a side-panel headphone jack allows private listening (headphones not included). What's in the Box TV, remote control, remote batteries, and user's manual.

Sharp Aquos LC52D85U 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Review

Sharp Aquos LC52D85U 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

My new Sharp Aquos LC52D85U 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV arrived in 4 days, and 3 days early from the Video & Audio Center, in perfect shape. The courier helped me unpack, set up and place this monster on its stand. Great service does not get any better than that. I first plugged in the HDMI connection to my RR HD-DVR and then the power plug, sat down & and struggled to find the HDMI connection I had used in the onscreen menu - there were so many inputs it was trial and error(didn't read the manual, no time!). Finally I landed on input 4 which was the live HDMI connection - the channel was set to a full HD channel and had a Fleetwood Mac concert recorded in 2004 playing in full glorious 1080i. I could see every strand of fly away hair and split ends on Stevie Nicks. Frankly I almost soiled myself because I was not expecting THAT degree of picture quality. I am still getting goosebumps from this beauty. This HDTV is just magnificent. The picture is bright, crisp and free of any banding issues. I can say without a doubt this TV will please even the most finicky of consumers. Tech types can tweak away at the hue and saturation controls to their hearts contect, color temperature, active contrast, fine motion are all customizable. The set even makes 480i HBO broadcasts look almost like HD quality.
I have been reading online reviews and customer experiences for over 3 months on all brands of HDTV's prior to pulling the trigger, and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with this HDTV. I am reluctant to touch the fine tuning picture controls for fear of messing with the already perfect, gorgeous picture right out of the box! One of the reasons I ruled out other brands such as Samsung was the lack of a matte screen to combat reflective glare, as my living room has two banks of floor to ceiling windows & also with cathedral ceilings, facing south. Thus I was concerned with buying just an expensive mirror. It is so sunny in my viewing area an old CRT set was unwatchable during the brightest morning hours - not so this Sharp HDTV. The anti-reflective surface completely eliminates any bothersome reflections. The viewing angle is just about as advertised, I can stand almost 75 degrees to the side and still can view the screen. Just an amazing set. I liked the way the TV will indicate the screen resolution upon changing to a new channel, I find this to be a nice touch. I really liked that the user can alter the range of the OPC and power saving feature so as to limit the degree that the set will automatically reduce brightness in a dark room.
An aggressive price, & free shipping just clinched it for me; I had already decided on the Sharp. This a just a great HDTV, if you are considering this set at all, just go for it.

Just got this television and for under 1K, it does a bang up job. It has an input for you progressive scan DVD player and an input for your 108i HD reviever, plus two more inputs for you VCR and whatever else you might have. The picutre on this thing is awesome!! Even old tapes look good with the line doubling, which lets you pick progressive or interlaced, I find interlaced helps with analog stuff, it takes the jaggies off. Again, for under 1K, an awesome tv.

The 30PW850H's 30-inch Real Flat, high-definition widescreen picture tube affords today's best home cinema viewing when used with a progressive-scan DVD player or an outboard digital set-top box for DTV reception. Picture enhancements include a sophisticated 3D Y/C digital comb filter, which improves quality of incoming interlaced video signals by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped t-shirt). Eye Fidelity provides the choice between different line doubling and scanning techniques--progressive or interlaced--so you can reduce motion artifacts like jagged edges and stair stepping, viewing material in progressive scan (480p) or a line doubled (1050i) picture. Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. Further, a feature called Active Control continuously analyzes incoming signals and optimizes picture color, sharpness, contrast, and digital noise reduction 60 times per second. The set offers stereo reception with 10 watts power per stereo speaker, and onboard Incredible Surround processing simulates surround sound from any two speakers. Two sets of high-definition component-video inputs (1080i/480p) accommodate a set-top box/HD satellite receiver and a progressive-scan DVD player, while side and rear composite- and S-video inputs accommodate other hardware. Rear-panel audio/video outputs make it a cinch to hook the set up with your home theater surround receiver for a truly immersive AV experience. A 0.125-inch headphone jack lets you listen in private. The set includes an NTSC tuner for standard TV reception and comes with a universal remote control. Average Reviews:

I've owned this 58VT25 for a few weeks now. HDTV broadcasts and Blu-ray video are just amazing, not to mention the very excellent 3D seen from Direct TV broadcasts. And by the way .. There are no grayish backgrounds where one would expect black. On this TV, blacks are BLACK. Also, on mine, there isn't any, "buzz" (someone here reported hearing a buzz) or any sound other than program content regardless of how close I get to the TV. If there was, I would call Panasonic's repair service.
One thing I learned early on is, don't mess with the color adjustments on this TV right off the bat; wait a few days for the TV to stabilize then adjust if you feel the need. The color realism on this TV is extraordinary. Being typically an early adapter, I've owned a few other plasma TVs. My gripe with my earlier Panasonics is .. I could never get the reds quite right (leaned toward crimson), and there always seemed to be just the slightest greenish hew. Yes .. I'm picky .. kind of a perfectionist I guess.
The reason for my having owned several TVs over the recent past is because those before never seemed quite right. This one though is a keeper. If there's any gripe at all it's with watching non-HDTV broadcasts. They look great, but I think they looked even better on the TV I replaced this one with. But broadcasters are all switching over to HD so that little complaint will never cause me to continue in my early adapter ways. This one, I'm sure, will stay in my house until one of us passes away (I'm a few years into retirement).
And by the way, I will edit this review if any negatives become apparent on this TV over time.

I was looking for a bigger TV with great picture without the big price tag. Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi are ok but not that affordable. By comparing the features with those with similar sizes, this 47" Samsung stands out. I own a 27" Samsung and I never had a problem with it so I'm confident about the quality of the brand. After the break in period, I was amazed with the quality of the picture even while watching cable. I purchased a progressive scan DVD and the picture was even better. I can't wait to try out the HD capability. My only problem is not with the unit but with the remote's design. The joystick like up/down/left/right/enter button makes me nuts. So if you have a universal remote, you can just throw this damn thing away and enjoy a stress free TV viewing.

Transform your living room into a luxurious movie theater with Samsung's widescreen, rear-projection HCL4715W. The set's 47-inch viewing area is set in a smart-looking medium-gray cabinet, and the unit is equally compatible with progressive-scan DVD players and DTV set-top boxes. Whether your passion is DVDs, sports, or movies, the HCL4715W delivers outstanding performance and convenience. At the heart of the set, 3 high-resolution 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system. The system includes data-grade lenses for optimum picture detail and a first-surface mirror to ensure high brightness and image clarity. Samsung's PerfectFocus auto-convergence system corrects picture focus at the push of a button (9-point manual adjustment is also an option). Flicker-free progressive-scan picture performance eliminates scan lines visible in analog projection sets. Its 30-watt stereo audio system (15 watts per channel x 2) delivers ample sound for any entertainment venue. The set's widescreen aspect ratio is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players, as well as for the growing availability of broadcast programming from HDTV tuners, cable boxes, and satellite receivers. The HDTV component-video inputs accommodate any add-on HDTV tuners, HD satellite receivers, and HD cable boxes that output 1080i-format component-video (Y, Pb, Pr). NTSC-to-480p line doubling takes interlaced inputs (as those from VCRs and non-progressive-scan DVD players) and converts it to a sharper, clearer progressive-scan.Further, a 3-line digital comb filter improves the picture quality of all analog video sources by reducing "dot crawl" caused by incorrect color processing (most noticeable near borders and the edges of contrasting areas). Picture-format size adjustment compensates for different video formats by digitally expanding the picture to fill the screen. The "aspect" button on the remote toggles through the set's 5 options: zoom 1, zoom 2, stretch, panorama, and native format.Dual-tuner picture-in-picture enables convenient simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. Remote control PIP functions include the mixing a TV source and a video source, and second-screen size and positioning on the TV screen. A universal remote control permits control over the TV, DVD, VCR, and cable box. What's in the Box TV, remote control, remote batteries, 4 casters with accompanying caster trays, a user's manual, and warranty information.

First things first, THEY FIXED THE AUTO-CONTRAST! I have nothing but good things to say about this TV. Do not be fooled by the 1 star ratings. All those 1 star ratings complain about the auto contrast/brightness feature which could not be turned off, but SONY FIXED IT ALREADY in the newer units or a software update via sony.com will add the controls to turn the function off.
With that biggest gripe fixed, this TV has outstanding visual clarity and the color saturation is beautiful. Black levels are excellent on this non glossy screen. You can't go wrong with a Sony and the software update shows they are listening to their customer base. No dead/stuck pixel, great viewing angles, 120hz refresh is great for sports, but in my opinion, not for movies. Excellent TV, I would buy another one of these without hesitation, superior when compared to the other brands that offer the same features. The Bravia V series lives up to the Sony name and quality standards you would expect. Deserves all 5 of the stars it's rated.

First of all, this is my first HD LCD TV. I've done research for the last year trying to find the right TV for the right price.
After looking at Sony, Samsung, Sharp LCD's and the Samsung LED DLP, I stumbled upon the Philips 2PFL7422D on the web. After doing some research on this TV I found that it had all the pro's of the other big name brands but with out any of the con's, such as banding(Sharp) or clouding(Sony)(Note, this information was gathered from other reviews, I had not seen either of these phenomenon's my self).
I'm very happy with this TV. One thing I really like it the screen isn't shiny like Samsung's high end models I was also interested in. My TV is in a very bright location with lot of windows and a shiny screen was a really turn off even though the Samsung's LCD's review very well.
Some things to be aware of is the refresh is 60hMz (120hMz is the current high mark) and the HDMI is 1.0, not 1.3. Also the remote feels cheap but is easy to use.
I'm not a audio/video buff by any means, but I do understand the tech. I have a Xbox 360 and Wii hooked up, both through component cable, and they work great. I played Guitar hero 2 and didn't notice any delay between picture and sound. I also connected it to Comcast Digital and the HD looks great. Watched football this weekend and didn't notice any blur.
If your looking for high quality at a great value, check this TV out.

Samsung LNT2653H 26-Inch LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNT2653H 26-Inch LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've already learned one important lesson in my limited experience with HDTVs - it's not all about the picture. In the case of this unit, the picture quality was very comparable to the 23" Sony Bravia HDTV I had recently bought (slight pluses and minuses for both), but the Samsung is far more well thought-out and user-friendly. I'm really surprised at how big of a difference that makes, but it does.
This TV will change channels fairly quickly (about the speed of a non-HDTV), whereas the Sony Bravias (and I assume others) are painfully S-L-O-W. This was irritating enough when I was just using the relatively small number of over-the-air channels, with cable it can drive you absolutely crazy.
Also, the Samsung will sense what inputs are actually being used, so that it will only go to the ones that are hooked up to a VCR, DVD, etc. and not S-L-O-W-L-Y cycle through them all, as does the Bravia (where it's a real drag if you hit that button by mistake).
Another nice feature is that the LNT2653H has separate coax inputs for antenna and cable. If you, like me, want to use both, this makes life much easier.
There are actually a few other smaller items that are superior on the Samsung as well, but the real epiphany to me was that usability is so significant an issue in these HDTVs. Don't get me wrong, picture quality IS important too and this one looks to me as good as any, but you can't really judge that aspect very well in a showroom anyway. Once you get it home you have to actually use it - and the differences there are striking.
I'll also mention that, at the time of purchase, the price at Amazon was significantly better than at any other reputable dealer I could find. The unit came quickly and in good shape.
I'll give it 4 1/2 stars, because as good as it is, it's still not perfect.

Offering an unparalleled sleek design and one of the best 720p LCD panels available, Samsung's 2007 model LNT2653H 26-inch flat-panel LCD HDTV is an updated successor the super popular 2006 model LNS2651D. Compared to the previous year's model this one offers an updated cosmetic design, a better contrast ratio at 5000:1, hidden speakers, side A/V inputs, and 2 HDMI connections.
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Love the HD picture quality (PQ) of the Samsung 52B750, but don't watch TV in cave and don't want to deal with all those reflections off a glossy screen? Well, the Sony 52Z5100 is the answer. HD PQ with the Z5100 is excellent with great black levels, but without the "shaving mirror" reflectivity of the screen during dark or black scenes. We were looking at the 52B750, based on reviews and seeing it at UE, but after testing our viewing room at various times of day with a glass picture frame and our "bright screen" LCD notebook, it was obvious that the reflections would drive us crazy over the life of the TV. We have two older HDTVs, both with matte screen and we don't miss the reflective glass screens of the old CRT TVs. The 52Z5100's screen is best described as semi-matte. Un-powered, the screen is reflective though dull. Power it up and there are essentially zero reflections, even with very dark scenes. What ever Sony has done to defeat reflectivity and minimize glare, it works very well.
As to performance, PQ with HD sources (OTA DTV and Dish HD) is as good as it gets, absolutely excellent and easily equal to the Samsung B750 (we viewed the Z5100 side-by-side with the B750 and the XBR9 at UE and couldn't discern any difference in HD PQ). Blacks are excellent and shadow detail is the best I've seen on a TV. No flashlights, clouding, or uneven lighting across the screen. Color realism and saturation are excellent. Viewing angle is average or typical of CCFL LCDs, which is about 45 degrees off center. Not bad and much better than the LED LCDs, which could be important if you plan to show off your new HDTV with a Super Bowl party next February (not everyone can sit right in front of the TV to see great PQ, like they have to with the LED LCDs).
We're just thrilled watching Starz and Cinemax HD movies, prime-time HD drama on the major networks, any live HD broadcasts, and especially any live HD sporting even broadcasts. The WOW factor is back! Can't wait for the NFL season to start. We watched the men's and women's French Open finals via live, OTA, HD DTV, with the Scene setting set to "Sports (MotionFlow on High, 240 Hz) and it was like we were standing behind Roger Federer on the court. BTW, the on-board ATSC digital tuner in the Z5100 is excellent. It is obviously of the latest generation as it is the most sensitive and most stable of any of our DTV tuners, including the Zenith CECBs we bought for our old, remaining CRT TVs. If you buy the 52Z5100, try hooking up an antenna to it and see what you can get. The uncompressed live HD from an OTA antenna is something to behold.
PQ from non-BD DVDs is excellent. Upscaled DVD movies on my Sony 1080p upscaling DVD player look as good as many of the HD movies on the pay HD movie channels. I don't have a BD player yet and with the PQ of my upscaled DVDs, I probably won't get one until the price drops substantially.
PQ from SD sources is a mixed bag. It really depends on the source. Decent 480i stuff comes across excellent, but some older video and movies look pretty bad and the MPEG Filter and CineMotion filter don't do much to help regardless of which setting you use. I'd give this set Average to a little above average on SD PQ. Using the MPEG filter set to Medium or Low improves bad SD video over no filter at all.
I'd rate the on-board sound system as above average for flat panel HDTV sound systems, even though I typically us the sound from my DD7.1 sound system. I don't do games, so I can't comment on that.
As for the internet connectivity, I'm not impressed. I've surfed through most of what is offered and it isn't worth much. A nice universal remote comes with the set. On-screen menu is poorly arranged (not intuitive, not logical, redundant in places).
Overall, I can't see anyone being disappointed if they buy this LCD HDTV and your friends will be impressed as well.

I picked up this television almost two weeks ago. After tweaking the color and contrast settings, the picture quality is phenomenal. Fortunately my set does not suffer from the banding issues that its larger brethren (42"/46"/52") suffered. Overall it's a great tv. Now for a few minor negatives. There is only on RF input (coaxial cable) for the ATSC over the air antenna (OTA), QAM, and analog cable. In previous models there were separate inputs for each. Therefore, you could receive OTA programming, analog cable, as well as any unscrambled digital cable channels that your cable company provides. For most this is not a problem, but I like redundancy , and would prefer to be able to receive all three. With this set you can either have an OTA antenna or cable, not both. The other negative would be the lack of digital inputs. This model has only 2 HDMI inputs. Its predecessor, the 37D90U had a DVI input and 2 HDMI inputs. For most this is not an issue, but I have a media center PC that I hook up to the tv as well as other digital devices such as an upconverting DVD player. Aside from these two minor issues, this television really is an excellent buy. I would however recommend that you but it locally (sorry Amazon) and have the store take it out of the box, turn it on, and have them either hook up a dvd player with a color calibration DVD or tune it to a channel with a light colored background to make sure it has neither dead nor stuck pixels nor any visible bands. Believe me, you do not want to suffer through having to return a large tv because there are banding issues. For more on what banding is, google the lc-46d62u model on the AVS forum and read all of the horror stories that many have dealt with. I would highly recommend this television, but everyone has different needs and you should always do a thorough investigation of what set would best suit your situation. The AVS forum is a good place to explore this. Best wishes on your purchases. Larry.

I understand the good reviews for this TV on here now. If I had posted this review a week ago, I would have written good things as well. However, it is currently 8 months after I got this TV, and it started having a burning smell yesterday. Then, while I was watching TV today the Screen went black, and nothing but a high pitched whine came from the speakers.
After trying to find a fix for the problem online, I found that this model is notorious for this problem. It is extremely unreliable, and mine ended up lasting longer than most others have. The problem is costly to fix and will likely recur, so I strongly recommend finding a non-Sylvania brand TV to buy as this one is not only unusable after a short period of time, but a potential fire hazard from what I can tell from the smell it makes.

I was looking for a mount for a 32 inch Westinghouse LCD TV high up on a wall in our bedroom. One main concern I had was I wanted a mount that would allow me to mount directly into a stud for maximum support. Since this unit has just two mounting holes one above the other this worked out great. Other units have four mounting holes and therefore the screws would have been on either side of the stud into the plaster wall or two in the stud and two into the plaster, not quite as ideal. This unit came with easy instructions, large size lag bolts for mounting to the wall and is well constructed, etc. Took only an hour to mount. The unit has one drawback, that is the gimble (rounded mount for tilting) on the back of the mounting plate. It had a difficult time supporting this large of a TV and is pushing the maximum limit on size and weight as the gimble screw had to be tightened very tight to keep the TV from tipping down all the time. I did not plan to move the TV once mounted so I was able to really tighten up this screw but at the time I was affaid I would strip the screw or crack the mount but so far no problem. If you are considering moving the TV once mounted and it is large like the one I mounted then I would suggest a differnt unit as it will keep tipping down. I would recommend buying this mount but watch the TV size and weight.

I'm an early adopter, so pretty much as soon as I saw this monster at the new price point (Mits' first 82" rear projection debuted at $21,000!!!) I knew I was going to have it. I'm about two weeks into ownership, upgraded to BluRay at the same time, and couldn't be happier.
I've read some reviews that complain about the "new improved" control protocol, and it is different from older models, but is still very instinctive and easy to figure out. Now that I have, it IS an improvement.
The mystery to me is how Mitsubishi can maintain such magnificent detail and color intensity on such a massive picture. I upgraded from an early model JVC 61" 720-line, and the picture is not only much richer and more detailed, it's nearly twice as large!
Love it, love it, love it! And by the way, Blu Ray ROCKS and this 82" is the perfect TV to show it off. We "debuted" with "Master and Commander" and even my non-tech-geek wife was blown away!
Update: I'll leave the rating as-is because the TV is everything the reviews says, but the add-on is, Mitsubishi's customer service (using the term loosely) totally sucks. Nothing was wrong with the function of the TV, except that there was transfer of adhesive material from the clear polyvinyl chloride protective tape used for packaging to the surface of the viewing screen which non-abrasive soap and warm water wouldn't remove, plus as I removed the tape it took some of the black paint off the metal frame around the viewing screen.
Getting this evaluated/reviewed and the repair authorized and completed (still not done at three weeks and counting after the one week it was supposed to take) was an absolute nightmare.
Hint to Mits: The early adopters like me who pay the first-on-my-block prices for your latest gizmos are pretty much used to having things our way. Even with our support your products can fail, but without our support it's impossible for your products to succeed. Treat us like crap and you don't get a second chance. The amount of crap I've had to go through for a minor problem that was 100% the result of how you packaged the TV when you shipped it to me is unforgivable, and the attitude of the "regional manager" who basically told me I was SOL on the paint the tape tore off the frame shouldn't be in a customer contact position.

Sony BRAVIA NX 800 Series 52-Inch LCD TV, Black Review

Sony BRAVIA NX 800 Series 52-Inch LCD TV, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ok, I've been through 5 (yes five) TV's in the past 3 weeks since our original Sony rear projection died. We originally purchased a Sony EX700 series TV to replace the dead TV, however due to extremely poor viewing angles we returned it. We then had two Samsungs (UN55C6300) which were both defective so I decided to go back to Sony and get this TV (KDL52NX800). Here's my thoughts:
The Good:
The TV is absolutely beautiful to look at, when it's turned off. The "monolithic" design of the TV is very appealing and looks great. The picture quality is also very good on this set, although you can do better than what this set offers. The screen is fronted with a pane of glass, which adds to it's appearance as well. Internet widgets work great and a recent firmware update (automatic) made Netflix perfect. The menus are intuitive to use as well. The TV offers a vast array of inputs (4xHDMI) along with a blue-backlit remote control to control it all. Colors are awesome on this set and far superior to two Samsungs we've had prior to this set. The great colors are due to Sony's factory settings that are closer to THX than Samsung's.
The Bad:
This is my second Sony in as many weeks. We started off with an EX700 series but with it's rediculously narrow viewing angle we returned it and then went to Samsung. However, after two defective Samsungs we're back at Sony - this NX800 series. While the Samsung has a much wider viewing angle we gave up on the brand after receiving two defective units. The viewing angle on this Sony NX800 is similar to the EX700 - very narrow. At about about ~20 degrees off center things start to wash out. Also, the picture quality is not quite as sharp as the Samsung that we had however, after some adjustments the PQ can be improved. The remote control includes a cool blue backlight, but unfortunately the buttons are black plastic so you cannot read any labels (though you can see button layout). Lastly, the pane of glass on the front of this screen acts more like a mirror sometimes than it does glass. We've become accustomed to closing blinds and dimming lights while watching TV to overcome the reflections.
In general, we're quite happy with this set despite it's major drawback which is narrow viewing angle. You'll see the same complaint on most LCD's today - especially larger ones - however, the Sony seems to be the worst of the bunch. We'll live with it. Out of the box required very little color alteration to get it looking good unlike the Samsung which took me hours due to their "hot" color scheme. We did turn off MotionPlus to get rid of the "soap opera effect" that the new 120hz and 240hz TV's have so that was easy to overcome.
Having spent hours researching TV's I think Sony may be a better choice than other manufacturers despite their narrow angles. So much of this TV "just worked" right out of the box - including getting it working with Media Center (which was a serious PAIN with the Samsung). These sets are discontinued (last years model, replaced with NX810) so they can be had at pretty good pricing on the web and also at your local retailer.

Samsung HLT5687SAX 56-Inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV Review

Samsung HLT5687SAX 56-Inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, here's my list of what's great about this TV:
1.The QAM Cable tuner took my standard cable connection and found about 30 new or so DTV (digital HD) channels to complement my analog cable channels. I can now get all my local channels in HD (720p or 1080i) through my cable connection. Additionally, some other analog channels have a sister DTV channel broadcasting in 480i.
2.I was able to connect my old rabbit air antenna to the TV and lo and behold, I received my local channels in HD. But with the QAM Cable Tuner, I don't really need my rabbit airs.
3.The HD Channels truly look spectacular on this TV.
4.I was surprised how good Standard Definition (analog) channels looked on this TV as well. Because this 56" baby is so big, I can make the SD channels 4:3 (instead of widescreen) and it still looks big. I measured the 4:3 screen and it comes out to about 46".
5.The remote control and menu layout of this TV is very intuitive. Easy to use! The remote has a separate button to change the screen size to 4:3, 16x9, Zoom1, Zoom2, Just Scan. There are other dedicated buttons as well for Picture Mode, Sound Mode, Freeze Picture, SRS Surround Sound, Game Mode, Sleep Mode, Info, Closed Caption, etc. There's also a button to switch easily between cable and an external antenna.
6.After you autoprogram your channels, you can setup a favorite channels list. The remote has a favorite channel button which will only scroll through your favorites.
7.I'm in the process of getting an upconverting 1080p DVD player, but my standard DVD player with S-Video/RCA jack connection looks pretty dang sharp on this TV. The cartoons (Cars, Happy Feet, etc) that my kids watch on DVD almost look HD like.
8.When changing channels, the TV will temporarily display the show's v-chip rating, the picture quality (480i, 720p, or 1080i), and native screen size (4:3, 16x9).
9.Another wonder is that I can set the picture size to 4:3 because most of my cable channels are still analog. However, when a DTV channel comes up, the TV will automatically expand those channels to 16x9 if the DTV channel is supposed to be in widescreen format.
10.Hopefully the LED light engine will last a long time. No more bulbs to replace.
11. Amazon's delivery service was good. I was able to schedule a 8am-11am Saturday delivery. I live on the 2nd floor of a flat and the delivery guys carried it up to my living room. They waited for me to test it out before I signed off as well.
Here's my list of dislikes:
1.When changing channels, there's about a second or two delay before the channel appears. My old CRT shows the next channel immediately. I don't know if all HDTVs do this. I didn't really test other HDTVs at the store by changing the channels.
2.I think all bigger screen TVs have this problem (whether it's Plasma, LCD, or DLP), but the TV isn't really that heavy. So if you live in earthquake country like I do, I can see this TV swaying and falling down on its screen size...OUCH! This flatscreen TV makers ought to attach a strap on the back of the TV that can hook on to the TV stand for more stability.
3.The SRS Surround Sound reads a lot better than it sounds. It's okay though.
4.I wish this TV had PIP...oh well, I didn't want to pay extra for the model that had it.
For the money and screen size, this Samsung is a steal IMO....especially if the LED light engine last as long as Samsung claims. As for the reviewer who wrote that his LED light engine cost him $1200, he must have bought a different Samsung LED model than this one since this model hasn't been around 11 months ago. Date of my review is 5/31/07. Also per my Warranty details, this model is covered for 1 year parts and labor as long as it's not used for commercial use. So the light engine should have been covered.

The energy-efficient 56" screen features a powerful, long-lasting LED light engine that turns on almost instantly. Full HD 1080p resolution and Samsung Cinema Smooth technology deliver a wide range of brilliant colors, with bright images and crisp definition. The HLT generation of Samsung DLP HDTVs are capable of displaying future 3D games, movies, and other programming via 3D compatible glasses and hardware.
LED (Light Emitting Diode) for modern color realization Samsung's new LED light engine replaces the arc lamp & color wheel design of previous DLP HDTVs, and realizes beautiful color. LED will last the life of the TV. Samsung LED DLP TVs eliminate the need to replace the consumable lamps every few years, and thus have less impact on the environment and on one’s wallet. Samsung's LED light engine makes possible an Ultra-Wide Color Gamut that exceeds the NTSC defined color space spec for richer color than you've seen before on TV. Samsung DLP HDTVs with an LED engine are more energy efficient than similar sized flat panel displays, and the lack of a moving color whell in the design means they perform with less noise than any previous DLP HDTV design.
Cinema Smooth Light Engine Samsung is the worldwide leader in creating light engines that harness DLP HDTV technology from Texas Instruments. Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine brings together the right optics, electronic circuitry and replaceable light source to create a brilliant picture that’s more lifelike and much closer to film. Now in its sixth year of evolution, Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine delivers crisp, 1080p High Definition resolution with high contrast and brightness, defined edges and sharp detail.
Next Generation DLP Chips from Texas Instruments Samsung employs a Texas Instruments DLP chip that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors. The DLP chip is faster than any other HDTV technology, with the mirrors switching on & off 15,000 times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast moving images. When combined with Samsung’s new Cinema Smooth light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that’s closer to film.
